Question: For us earlier device owners, like the 2G iPod Touch, do you expect that you'll keep the same price even after the first update to fix some of the lag issues? Or will it go up then?

Played it a bit during my workday, and it's great! Good job, from one indie dev to another. :)

Probably keep the intro price for about 2 weeks, and hopefully we can get the 1.1 update out and through approval by then. I guess updates are supposed to go faster than initial submissions.

Will Nighttime Mode make it in this first patch or is that for a later patch?

'it seems like we're just overloading the GPU with the explosion effects. As particles give overdraw (pixels drawn multiple times) we easily exceed the crappy fill-rate of the iPhone. As the higher res iPad and 4G have relatively lower fill rates (increase not in par with increase in real estate) they seem to suffer more of it than say the 3GS. I continue looking into it, but commenting out die effect seems to kill the lag.'

Well, looks like I've got some work to do. Explosion lag, you are soon to meet your match. :)

Even though it lags like hell on my first generation touch, I still love this game. That's how you know you've created a hit.

    ;)

I suggest everyone go for hard difficulty in survival and story modes. So much more fun!

A good way to get the fillrate back is to use OpenGLES 2.0 and play around with the precision inside the shaders - I presume you are using GL 1.1 for the 3GS and above? This is more work but the payoff is very good for fillrate.

Hey GraphicalGeek, Are you able to explain some of the GameCenter parts? Thats what has me coming back. Some of the things seem to confuse me. when it says to shoot 100 projectiles, whats that mean? because I've shot more then 100 shots? also, how does the all-time scoreboard work? it says im like #30 or whatever, but does it go by the story mode score or your highest survival mode score on what difficulty? Also, Say I beat the game on Normal, does that also unlock the achievement for Easy?

This is a very cool dual shooter ... love the lighting effects, and also the action, but graphics are a bit blocky .. but i guess its the style

Finally gave in and bought it despite having a iPod Touch 2G. Have to say that I love it so far. Played the tutorial and the first two levels with not nearly as bad of a framerate as I feared.

However, I then decided to give Survival a go. The first round was fine. But then it really hit the fan on the next level.

Surprisingly, it wasn't the number of enemies or explosions that seemed to be causing the slowdown, it seemed to be the level itself. The first one that gave me trouble was an arena with a lot of flashing lights. I thought that was the issue, but the next arena did not have the flashing lights and appeared to be similar to others but still with a lot of slowdown.

Also wanted to mention that I'm not sure I like the way grenades are handled. Would prefer to be able to just face the direction you want to throw and tap the button.

At least as far as story mode goes so far, I'll continue to play it. This has the potential to be the best dual stick shooter in the App Store.

BTW, doesn't OpenGLES 2.0 require 3G or higher? Just don't want to see an update that ends up killing off older devices completely.

I'll throw my post into the mix and say its been a pretty good game so far. Yea, some lags and a little grinding if I get lost or lose my bearing.
Not sure if mentioned but I'm not sure if the levels ended till I walk down that dark corridor.
I just jumped right into the game so maybe I should search around for more info if available. I still don't know what some of those little icons are at the top.:)

For the record: I'm not having any framerate issues, just the explosions create a short lag. I don't want to see the graphics and lighting killed in an update.

Also, some Game Center enabled games show progress of achievements. Hint, hint.

  18. Maybe add an option to turn off those graphics effects?

    Cool new idea

@Graphicalgeek hey I have this game and it is awsome!!! So worth the 1.99 and I have new ideas for new weapons. One new weapon you can add is a FLAMETHROWER it would feel so satisfying burning down a group of robots like in age of zombies. Also some mines would be nice and some CLUSTER GRANADES you know the ones that are one granade then explode and turns into four and pop again and some sort of laser would be awsome. And for multiplayer please add some co-op where you and a buddy can shoot down waves of robots and even play one on one against each other or team deathmatch of some capture the flag. O yeah and one thing would be cool to add is some melee attack like a punch or a knife to stab some robots. And a totally awsome idea is once you add this and fix the lag is to add DLC!!!! You can add a expansion pack with a different story but instead of robots you can add ZOMBIES!!!! these are my ideas for this game and I know I am aware that there is just a three man development team but these ideas are awsome and you guys can win some money with dlc like characters clothes and stuff. I hope you guys consider my ideas for this awsome game.
