This instantly reminded me of the horror game "Uninvited" I played back in the day. Looking forward to this.
Uninvited on the 512K Mac is one of my favorite games of all time! Through making these adventure games, I've actually become friends and hung out with the designer of Uninvited and Shadowgate. Meeting childhood heroes was an unexpected side benefit of this career!
Just started playing the game (got promo from the Dev) and it's pretty cool! A bit oldstyle, but in a good way, in spirit of old pc quests.
@aeschylus72 - yeah, Grisly Manor is on the shorter side for sure. It was designed to run on the original iPhone - the iPhone 2G. That thing had no RAM whatsoever and the processor was pitiful. It was all I could do to have a game that long without crashing due to lack of memory. Also, there was an over-the-air limit back then of 20MB. Wi-Fi wasn't as common as it is now, and we didn't want to go over the limit. It took 8 months to create the game and we were concerned that people wouldn't be able to play it! The new game has a proper length, I assure you! It should take a few hours to complete if you don't use a walkthrough or the hint system. I hope you give Return to Grisly Manor a try! Also, updates are going out tomorrow that fix an interface issue on the iPhone 6 Plus for our older games. Sorry for the inconvenience if anyone ran into that. Warmregards, Joe
Hmmm... When I play the game at "hare" speed, the ticking off the timer persists incessantly no matter where I go in the game. Please fix! It's driving me batty!
Hey Cole Daddy! Sorry about that! I mistyped a number in the latest update! :-( A fix has already been submitted. Hopefully will be live tomorrow, I'm guessing. In the meantime, just exit the app and open it again to get rid of the ticking. So sorry about that!! One of these years one of my game launches will go smoothly!
Just to be sure, the original's update dated 8/4 isn't the 6+ fix, is it? Text is still cut off and buttons still overlap the inventory in that build.
@geoelectric No, the iPhone 6+ is in the queue at Apple. Hopefully should be live tonight or tomorrow. And all of the old games, The Secret of Grisly Manor, The Lost City, The Hidden World, and The Fire Maple Games Ultimate Adventure Collection are all getting the iPhone 6+ interface update. They are all currently "In Review" at Apple. Sorry for the delay! And the new game has an update pending as well, which fixes a new bug that I created when fixing a different bug. I believe all the fires are now out, everything in at Apple waiting for review, and I can relax for a bit
Just a quick note that the updates to all of our previous games are now live, with the iPhone 6 Plus interface fix. Sorry to anyone this affected! Joe
Thanks geoelectric! The latest update is live, which fixed the ticking sound effect bug. Now, making the Mac App Store version!
Not really the site for it, but the Mac App Store version is live if interested: http://apple.co/2aKwRp9 Joe
Just finished and I must say....WOW. Very, very polished. An absolute joy to play. Always been a fan but you have surpassed all expectations with your latest release Keep up the good work
Recently got a promo code for this game and even though I have not finished it yet so I can't give a full review I wanted to post some impressions: The game looks fine, though at times I wish that it looked more retina. It seems to look a little bit "low resolution" or just not as sharp, as I would like on my air 2. It runs totally fine, no crashes and nothing so that's always a big plus. The only game in this genre I have ever finished was Agent A and I feel this game does not reach the level of polish and satisfaction (yet?). I also got overwhelmed with stuff to do (bunch of items and locations) so I had to use some tips here and there to get by and for a supposed premium experience the 7 minute timer was a big bummer. I am not that great at those games yet but I like them so when I am stuck I want to be able to use hints and not have a 7 minute cooldown. I can see that this should increase exploration but for me it is just annoying. Overall I am still enjoying my time with the game and if you like those the overall very positive feedback in this thread should convince you to buy it
