We are looking for beta testers and would love ANY feedback! <3
iOS: Private message me your e-mail for a Testflight invitation
    Android: Download RETROSHIFTER (BETA)

Hi everyone! My name is Lina. I am the artist/composer of the two-man game development team Murdercloud Studios. This is the first project we have worked on together as Murdercloud Studios and finally after 8 months we are able to set a preliminary release date (May 28th).

    GAMEPLAY:

Your goal as the RETROSHIFTER is to escape the laser security system. You do this by timing your jumps, dives and rolls through the lasers, the catch being that you have to synchronize your RETROSHIFTERS color to that of the laser. Multitasking is the key.

The speed keeps increasing as you progress, intensifying and intensifying until you maybe decide to catch your breath using the Focus Ability:

A few of the character customizations available:

    FEATURES:

    * Challenge your friends
    * Test your reflexes with intuitive controls
    * Slowdown time for the extra tricky situations
    * Get PUMPED up with the dynamic retro soundtrack that intensifies with the gameplay
    * Complete hundreds of daring missions to rise to the top
    * Customize your look with unlockable outfits
    * Upgrade your RETROSHIFTER to unlock his ultimate potential
    * Earn achievements and challenge your friends
    * Unlock game-modes for bigger challenges

    A LITTLE BACKGROUND:

RETROSHIFTER is a brand new endless runner game. A life-long passion with all things 80’s and videos games led me to attempt to create an experience that captured the essence of the 80’s Cyberpunk era. This through a pulsating 80’s retro inspired soundtrack and distinct visuals focusing on the contrast between the dark dystopian world and the bright fluorescent neon lights. All this brought together with the nostalgia of pixelated retro graphics.

hello again. this game is amazing. becomes hard really fast, controls are perfect and gameplay is smooth. music and visual components are very stylish.
all i want from you devs is just to make this game premium. that's all. superb runner.

also, the smaller file size will be awesome.

Playing the beta. Really feels polished. Love the retro graphics. Poeruos. Ranking up abilities. Different outfits. Gets fast and really tests your reflexes.

    Hey!
Thanks a lot! Lovely to hear that you like it.
Ah the freemium/premium dilemma. Nothing would make us happier than to only stick to premium but it's unfortunately easier said than done :(

Smaller file size? Hm we will look into see if there's any possibilities to make it smaller!
    Thanks :)

Description caught me... Sending PM in 3...2...

Wow. I just read the description and thought of a specific game I loved back then when it was still available on the AppStore: Polara.

I'd love to give this game a try and give give as much feedback as possible.

I'm enjoying the beta. Are there plans to optimize this for the iPad? It works well on my 6S+. The color changes hits the same notes as another great game previously mentioned, Polara. It took some time getting used to the distance one has to press to make it through a gate. You have to get right up to the gate before pressing jump/dive/roll. That's a smaller window than other games of this ilk, and takes some getting used to at the start.

Tested on the iPhone 6S+. 1-2 hours into the game. Love the game art style. The pixelated city background really reminds me of Canabalt, but, visually, there is a lot more going on in this game. The soundtrack goes well with the game as well, but a bit tedious after a while. The controls are unique. Makes you stay active with both of your hands since it requires you to color colors with your left hand and movement with your right.

Other than the changing colors/moving through the barriers, there really isn't much of an obstacle. Like Canabalt for example, there is gaps to jump across and different building levels (height). It's (Canabalt) not a really a linear game where the platform stays flat.

In the future, would there be different levels (with different soundtracks)?

Downloaded the android beta, game looks nice at first, but it gets old really fast. And it is very frustrating to play it because of the controls, missing the swipes all the time. There is like a delay in every swipe I made which is what makes me missing the lasers, is it my phone or is the game lagging? I played it on my Samsung Galaxy S5 by the way. The color swap is working fine though.

Love the look. Gameplay is solid. Only thing I would change is making the controls feel more responsive. Maybe by speeding up the animation for dive, slide etc. Overall fun experience.

I'm glad you are enjoying the beta! I've never tried Polara, I'll have to look into it :) We have gotten some requests for iPad so yes we are going to try to get it working properly for iPad!
