Hello everyone, i'm a software developer with a huge passion for retro gaming, especially the NES era. After months of work, I've just released my own NES emulator for iOS called Retroman. Loading games is straightforward: simply save legal NES ROM files (.nes) to your device using the iOS Files app, then open Retroman and select the game you want to play. Retroman also supports loading ROMs directly from other iOS apps using the 'Open In' feature. As a dev and a gamer, my goal was to create something that really captures the essence of playing on the original hardware. Some key features I focused on: Smooth gameplay with minimal lag Gamepad support for that authentic feel iCloud sync for saved states Options to tweak video & audio settings I'm really proud of how it turned out, especially the performance and the privacy aspects (no data tracking, everything stays on your device). You can download Retroman from the App Store: App Store link I'd love to hear your feedback, thoughts and suggestions about Retroman and how it compares to other NES emulators you've used. Your feedback on its performance, features, and overall experience will be crucial in guiding future updates and improvement. Appreciate what the guy has done but might be late to the party when you have Delta which is free for example should try and release an emulator which isn’t available. elcrazy likes this. elcrazy Well-Known Member Sep 19, 2017 707 562 93 #4 elcrazy, Jun 27, 2024 lol. I felt bad saying it. But I was thinking the same thing too. If you’re gonna release one now it’s gotta be something new or really spectacular to make me want to start transferring again. Delta is perfect for my liking. What we are missing is a good Sega one from Master System to Genesis to CD. And if you really want some downloads, figure out a way to get us MAME!! kotsoum Well-Known Member Feb 1, 2015 66 7 8 #5 kotsoum, Jun 27, 2024 Retroman specializes in NES emulation because I wanted to create a dedicated, high-quality experience for NES games specifically. By focusing on a single console, I've been able to optimize performance, accuracy, and features tailored to NES gameplay. One key aspect I've particularly focused on is the virtual controls - I've worked hard to make them the best in the market, offering a responsive and comfortable playing experience that closely mimics the feel of the original NES controller. While multi-console emulators offer variety, there's value in a specialized approach that can offer a more authentic and refined experience for NES enthusiasts. Fair play to the guy. I may get this psj3809 Moderator Jan 13, 2011 12,971 721 113 England #8 psj3809, Jun 27, 2024 Well I bought it. It’s a very nice emulator a few questions for the dev though. How do I see the list of games I’ve downloaded as it keeps going straight to my shared folder. Thought I saw a screenshot of games within the emulator you’ve downloaded please please change the control so I can slide from say left to right or up or down. As at the moment that doesn’t work and that’s a key issue for emulator controls. I have to take my finger off to do another direction but an impresssive app with some nice features Lull4by Well-Known Member Aug 21, 2014 767 313 63 #9 Lull4by, Jun 27, 2024 Actually I think it is good for new emulators keep coming, so we can get a better one eventually. elcrazy and Torrente like this. kotsoum Well-Known Member Feb 1, 2015 66 7 8 #10 kotsoum, Jun 27, 2024 Thank you, i really appreciate your support and feedback. Regarding your questions: 1. Game list: When you open Retroman, you can access your downloaded ROMs through the built-in Files app explorer. This view has three tabs: "Recents," "Shared," and "Browse." You can select any of these options to locate your downloaded files. The "Shared" folder is just one option - feel free to use whichever tab works best for organizing your ROMs. 2. Controls: Thank you for the feedback on the directional controls. You've raised a good point about sliding from one direction to another. I agree this would enhance the playing experience, especially for games that require quick directional changes. I've added this feature to my todo list and plan to implement it in the next update. I'm glad you're finding Retroman impressive overall. I'm committed to continually improving the app, and feedback like yours is invaluable in that process. If you have any more suggestions or encounter any issues, please don't hesitate to let me know. adin and psj3809 like this. kotsoum Well-Known Member Feb 1, 2015 66 7 8 #11 kotsoum, Jun 28, 2024 The sliding directional control feature has been added in our latest update (v1.2).
