So taking that away makes the $7.99 unlock a bit more unappealing. But I’ll still give it a shot when it comes out at 11 pm EST. psj3809 Moderator Jan 13, 2011 12,966 718 113 England #4 psj3809, Sep 23, 2024 Nah i'm happy its landscape. Most games are, find portrait quite strange. Loved the first game, sure this will be superb. Roll on release time ! anthony78 Well-Known Member Nov 13, 2015 3,127 703 113 #5 anthony78, Sep 23, 2024 Let me clarify that I have plenty of other top down racing games in landscape so what made the first game different from the others was portrait. There aren’t many racing games that can be played that way so that’s why I liked the change of pace! psj3809 Moderator Jan 13, 2011 12,966 718 113 England #6 psj3809, Sep 23, 2024 Yeah i do like the top down racing games, remember back in the arcades the classic game Super Sprint. so looking forward to seeing this and what new features there are. I would also like to see this for Retro Racing 2. Another small thing: When the vehicle gets repaired, the bar decreases. As far as I understand, this process was implemented more sensibly for example in F-Zero; in other words, the bar filled up during the repair. When the car is 100% repaired, the bar is 100% filled. And maybe when something is picked up, the bar (ACCELERATION, TIRES, SPEED UP,..) could be shown a bit (300-500ms) longer? Greetz Chris Mr Qwak Well-Known Member May 23, 2010 204 25 28 #12 Mr Qwak, Sep 25, 2024 Some interesting ideas there! Making the damage bar indicator more of a health indicator; that didn't occur to me. I played F-zero a couple of times way back when, but not a lot. I'm curious, is that the normal way these kind of damage / health bars are implemented? Chq Well-Known Member Jul 20, 2013 442 60 28 #13 Chq, Sep 25, 2024 I would say yes, but maybe other people seeing it different. Greetz Chris Mr Qwak likes this. I was really struggling to get much interest (from the US) with the original Retro Racing game, which had more downloads in Europe, and esp. the UK. Still very early days, but feeling I may have messed up a bit. The original game was a premium (paid) app, but I wanted to make RR2, free to download and try, and with a single IAP to unlock the full game. I personally, really like that model. Sadly I had a few bad early reviews on the US AppStore, all from people unhappy at this model (presumably they want the whole game free). To be fair to them, a lot of games are free these days, and only monetised via Ads and optional IAP's. I obviously feel the game is really good quality, and I know what's gone in to making it, and competitively play it myself. I'm curious what other peoples' perceptions are though (esp. if you're from the US). What you feel is a good business model for this kind of game? Any thoughts? A regular premium (paid) game? A free to try with a single IAP to unlock? If so, what do you feel would be a fair price? I’ll pay for the premium but in a few days. djstout Well-Known Member Jul 21, 2011 2,685 105 63 Sportscaster & football (soccer) coach Taiwan & Japan #17 djstout, Sep 25, 2024 Otherwise what a great game, reminds me a lot of the game on Amiga called Nitro which was one of the best top down racing games before. djstout Well-Known Member Jul 21, 2011 2,685 105 63 Sportscaster & football (soccer) coach Taiwan & Japan #18 djstout, Sep 25, 2024 What Id love to see in this game is more variety like night race, maybe different seasons like autumn (red leaves etc) spring (maybe sakura trees), urban race (like Monaco in between buildings or Singapore), maybe water (lake or sea). But since I didn’t unlock this game, maybe the dev added those things. And what could be fun is a special mode for when you finished the game, remember when fifa or winning eleven (can’t remember which one) had a mode with animals, or when nhl had a mode with mascots, it’s stupid but when you finish the game, it’s kind of fun and rewarding to get such small extra (same game but new skin).
