I'm lucky, I have old reviews & fan mail to look back at to remind me why this is all worth doing, but this must be soul-crushing for those starting out for real in 2018 with no idea if more than half a dozen people will ever like their game. For those looking for the hunter2 experience, you want Sandbox on the right of the big slider. There's 6 different starts, for each team on each main map (South City, North City & Airstrip - change maps in the options menu). Gwarmaxx likes this. Retro Flight Active Member Oct 3, 2018 25 8 3 Male #12 Retro Flight, Nov 5, 2018 Last edited: Nov 5, 2018 A couple of notes about the planes in sandbox: if it has biplanes or propeller monoplanes & you want jets (or vice-versa) just restart the sandbox game. Also, the bomber & striker are meant to be easy to fly but the fighter & baron are made to be realistic (with the help of a fan with a pilot's license) so you may not want to start with those unless you really want to do loops/rolls & don't mind crashing every ten seconds! More sandbox hints: tanks take more damage at the back, you can climb flat-roofed buildings, and if you see any grey saucer-shaped things lying around they may be worth investigating. You should also start in the city you want to explore (see post above) or there won't be as much happening when you get there. If anything cool or funny happens please post it so we can all enjoy! gjestland Well-Known Member Jan 15, 2013 857 5 18 #13 gjestland, Nov 9, 2018 Hey! I loved the original retro flight, it was running so smooth! Remineded me of the old A-10 games om Mac. I downloaded the update, but is there any way to skip the tutorial. I want to see the "new york" map! Great to see you back! Retro Flight likes this. Retro Flight Active Member Oct 3, 2018 25 8 3 Male #14 Retro Flight, Nov 9, 2018 I love that the creator of Fugl is an old Retro Flight fan! Your game is awesome. I started writing something for iPhone with kinda similar 3D procedurally generated terrain with weird rock formations, cave complexes & things but dropped it to revive Retro Flight, I feel less bad about that knowing your game exists! To get out of the tutorial (or any game) while playing, tap the little door in the top right then press "EJECT" in the main menu. From there, to change to a deathmatch game (the first one is New Blood) drag the slider under where it says Flight School. To explore "New York" from ground level, move that slider to Sandbox, then go to the options menu and change the map slider from "Airstrip Zero" to "South City". You'll start on foot or in a tank depending on which side you play. Hope you'll come back and share your adventures! Thought i had to complete tutorial (which is a bit long). In general the ui is an eye sore and you use a lot of non standard ui elements (like the slider for level select). Maybe divide it up in more screens with fewer options on each? What I like about the game is the crisp retro 60fps graphics, but control scheme is a bit mechanical imo. I would love something a bit more fluid and physics-y. You could have rotor control on tilt and a joystick for collective / rudder. It would be fun to try. Or two joysticks if you dont want to do tilt controls. Also the joysticks should be floating like i do in Fugl, where it creates a new null zone for each finger (and drag out from there to steer). I'm talking about what I like to see, not what is best for the game obviously, that you must decide.... Retro Flight likes this. [Edit: latest release has better joystick & a message clarifying how to change level, & I'm working now on a more exciting tutorial so it's more fun to complete.] Is it because the slider is below rather than next to the thing it changes, or that it's a slider at all? I agree about the menu UI in general & plan on redoing it, and definitely replacing that level slider with nice buttons. There's a tilt control you can switch on in the options - are you just asking for the up/down/left/right keypad on the right to be turned into a joystick? A floating joystick would mean you could no longer adjust the camera by swiping the screen, and also people will sometimes hit the orange camera buttons or other screen controls by mistake, causing frustration. It might be possible to make it work, I'll have a look if more ask for it. A lot of feedback I get on the controls is minority opinion and even contradictory to each-other, and people get annoyed when the controls they're used to changes so I don't adjust them lightly. But if (as has happened a few times) I keep hearing the same thing then even if I wouldn't necessarily prefer that myself I'll just shut up and fix it because The Audience Has Spoken!
