IMO it needs to show the players on the field during defense, instead of just showing text blocks. Are kicks always returned to the 50, or was that just the bad teams in the first game? How do you call a pass play? Capronissimo71 Well-Known Member Sep 5, 2011 1,305 137 63 Male Italy #4 Capronissimo71, Jan 17, 2020 From what I’ve seen so far you can’t call specific plays. Suggestion for the devs: could you add crowd noise during the entire match and not only in a touchdown? bruab Well-Known Member Mar 12, 2010 179 1 18 #5 bruab, Jan 17, 2020 OK, I played one game and it was all running plays. Most of my runs went for 30 yards or more. I lost though, because I missed my last extra point. Since you don't play defense, I just had to watch the text blocks as my opponent drove down the field and scored a touchdown to tie the game, then won on the extra point. Ouch. I actually kind of like the sudden crowd noise on a score. Very retro. Royce Well-Known Member Mar 22, 2011 4,240 180 63 #6 Royce, Jan 18, 2020 All of the plays can be a pass or run. If you tap the running back, it’s a run. If you drag back, it’s a pass and you drag back to aim and release to throw. I wish you could chose plays but I still find this hard to put down. sugimulm Well-Known Member Aug 28, 2010 2,457 46 48 The last time zone for iOS game releases :( #7 sugimulm, Jan 19, 2020 Anyone getting a fatal error upon boot up? Latest iPad, latest OS Royce Well-Known Member Mar 22, 2011 4,240 180 63 #8 Royce, Jan 19, 2020 No, but you can report bugs via the email on this page: http://www.newstargames.com/en/text/contact/Contact The game is a fun mix of light team a management and fairly simple arcade action. I definitely wish it had more depth, but it’s great for what it is, especially at 99 cents (the other IAP are completely unnecessary and in fact would probably ruin the game since it’s already on the easy side). There is some buggy behavior with 2 point conversion like if the ball is tipped by the defense and then you catch it, it’s 6 points, or if it’s intercepted, the opposing team takes over there instead of receiving a kickoff, but otherwise everything is pretty solid. I do wish there was more challenge, just a couple seasons in I can’t see myself losing without suffering multiple simultaneous injuries. You really just need top quality receivers. A 2 star quarterback with a strong arm is plenty. A decent running back and/or tight end helps, but mostly just spend on receivers and defense, and replace everyone but your receivers with draft picks when they hit free agency and sign free agents or use a first round pick if your receivers retire. Still it’s not so easy that it isn’t still fun, and I can’t seem to stop playing. sugimulm likes this. psj3809 Moderator Jan 13, 2011 12,972 722 113 England #9 psj3809, Jan 19, 2020 I’m loving this. Just the right mix of fun and not too advanced in the game. And, yeah, would be good to add defense. Offense gameplay is fun though! bruab Well-Known Member Mar 12, 2010 179 1 18 #12 bruab, Jan 22, 2020 Even if you can't play defense, you should at least be able to see the plays. Maybe add an option to summarize via text (like now). So, I picked this up even though I’m not a huge American Football fan. I’m only a few games in and don’t feel the F2P squeeze yet. For those who’ve played longer, does it feel like you need to pay to keep doing well? Also, what is the $0.99 Unlimited Version IAP give us? There’s no explanation that I can find. psj3809 Moderator Jan 13, 2011 12,972 722 113 England #15 psj3809, Jan 24, 2020 There’s a bit of that. Can allocate coins to train the players better or for the stadium. Can sign some expensive free agents. Do the draft etc. the main game is where you play Offense. I’m really used to it I now but took a while as you direct an arrow to pass or tal the RB to run and then control him with swipes. Computer runs through the defense quickly. Think it’s just about right as games can be quick. Really addicted to it In season 6 now curtisrshideler Well-Known Member Patreon Bronze Jul 30, 2011 3,097 25 48 Male Video Producer/Editor Texas http://twitter.com/curtneedsaride #16 curtisrshideler, Jan 24, 2020 I agree it would be fun to have some sort of defensive moments to play. I’m not sure how you’d implement that in a turn-based not too action kind of way. But It would be nice to see some of those plays if you wanted. Their other games (New Star Soccer and Manager) only really focus on the offensive side of soccer. If you’d like to watch and/or manage full football games, I’d suggest checking out Pro Strategy Football 20 on the App Store. It’s the best NFL management sim I’ve ever played. Won the superbowl 3 times in a row now. Its tough when the salary cap goes up but you still can’t resign your players and you have to cut or trade some. Zhang Doe Well-Known Member Mar 9, 2013 159 1 18 #20 Zhang Doe, Jan 29, 2020 I must be doing something wrong. My runs range from -2 yards to 7 yards. But then, I put my investment into fast wide receivers and only pick up a running back if the coach identified him mid-season. Otherwise, just a run of the mill back for screen passes.
