I just had to restore my 3G S because the 4.0.1 update had an unknown error. It's no longer an issue, but now I have nothing on my phone. I know how to replace my music, videos, etc. by selecting them, but I want to use a backup point to restore everything to the way it was without having to go check thousands upon thousands of little individual boxes. I also want to restore my phone contacts, which are not saved in my iTunes library like music and apps are. How do I go about re-installing a back-up from a previous date?
Also, I purchased apps while on another computer about a month ago while on vacation (probably 50+), now how do I get those on my iTunes now that I'm home and have a restored iPhone?
    Please help!!! :(

What you have to do is resotre it as a backup of your old backup. This option should be shown after you restore your phone. It will ask you to set up phone as a new phone or backup of old phone. If you didn't get this option, you probably don't have a backup saved on ur iphone. Second, since you don't have the apps on your computer, you are unfortunately going to have to do it the hard way....go to your account in the apple store and look at your purchases. You have to go through each one and redownload it. You won't be charged again, but it will be a pain to navigate through the list to redownload all the ones you purchased. Hope i helped!
