This game has been on my watch list for a while, but this thread and the new update have pushed me over the edge. Curse you all.

Keep ranking up, after the 10th rank every rank will add 10 toolkits to your capacity.

When you hit rank 20 you get the new hovercraft

One question before buying: Are toolkits consumable or do they stay forever?

Agree that this is pure class now!! The way the updates were done has been fantastic and something a bunch of devs could look to. Thanks for the great work guys:)

First comments for Phase 3: you are restricted to only 21 toolkits, but most if the cars require 25 toolkits to upgrade your car with a gun. Currently there is no "free" way to grind for the necessary toolkits, which means everyone is obligated to spend an extra dollar per two cars if the want to upgrade their cars for combat (unless you want to stick with the Power Rip skill, which carries through and you can progress through the stages just fine without any upgrades.

But there is a TON of IAP in the new update, so beware. And all of it is for currency, nothing you can unlock on your own without spending extra money.

    Is completely untrue...

Right now I can hold 40 toolkits... Haven't spent anything but the original price for the game.

Haven't played much yet, but the update is pretty freakin' awesome. I'm currently having a bit of trouble getting toolkits as well, but don't think IAPs are required. Just some grinding.

I added a plasma gun to my first car just to try out the weapons (since it only required 5 toolkits for it.

The game is too much fun to complain, but it would have been nice just to have some little weapon like a machine gun to start with and use toolkits to upgrade and/or get new weapons.

Regardless, I know people weren't happy when this game first came out and there were some, like myself, who wished there was opponents and combat. And many stuck up for the game not trying to be a Wipeout clone. And I got it and have been blown away with it even prior to this update so I was a convert. BUT I have to say that I'm am truly appreciative that the devs added this mode.

With all the modes, this is by far the best futuristic racer on the iOS. Period.

since i'm starting from scracth with this again

right now i can only hold 20 toolkits but it clearly says that you can upgrade the number of toolkits by leveling up your rank or by purchasing it on the store

So no worries there is no force to purchase that iap, actually looks like all the things in the store you can ge it by playing unless the doble exp iap

    Bought it.
    Played it.
Realised how good and polished Wipeout 2097 was.
Realised pseudo clning rarely ever works.
    Deleted it.
    Sorry.

The higher your level the more toolkits you can hold, but nice try.

edit: I have 71/90 toolkits right now.

yeah I thought that I might need to buy some IAP at first to get more toolkit capacity, then realized that each level gets you +10 capacity, and +20 for later levels. I thought about purchasing a gold skin to level faster and get the new hovercraft... then I realized that this game is way too much fun to cut out the grinding-ish segments, because I just lost 2 hours playing the same few levels grinding for toolkits and XP, when I meant to play for 10 minutes. It's just a joy to watch enemies after enemy pass you only to be obliterated by a rocket while you just laugh with 3 bars of boost. And I love how it forces you to choose between speeding away from your enemies or blowing them up.

TL;DR this update is amazing. no IAP necessary. Buy it right meow!

    Yeah...

And grinding isn't even really grinding... Considering the time trial aspect, if you're not going to play a level more than twice, you're not really 'getting the game'

I don't think Mikey Shorts was made for one playthrough... Neither was Repulze...
