It feels amazing to finally start talking about this. We have been working on a hoverboard game that we hope captures the spirit of a skateboarding game with a little flare. 720° (an old arcade game) was a huge inspiration. Still have my hands full with Grand Mountain Adventure but this one looks fantastic! I guess it's going to be all about controls which is hard to figure out from the trailer. Can you elaborate on control scheme a little? I love the visual style, overall look of it so I'll probably be pre-ordering anyway, but if you could shed some light on controls, I'd be grateful.
Not a problem! It's physics based, and the controls are simply left thumb moves, right thumb charges a jump. It will take a bit of practice, like any skateboarding game. We hope we nailed down a flying feeling. Yeah it is!
I need this in my life right now. Also it looks like you can play in landscape or portrait? If true, what are the portrait controls?
You absolutely can play in portrait or landscape! No on screen controls, and you can switch to left handed. It's left thumb moves, right thumb charges a jumps. It's just where your hands sit naturally on the screen. It's the same control scheme for both orientations.
I was a high schooler when 720 was at the arcade... never had enough quarters to get good at it. I'm am so stoked to try this out...!!! Looks freaking stellar dude.
Are there tricks? Because so far it sounds like all there is is just a simple jump and that’s it. And I hope I’m wrong on this because how could such simple mechanic drag someone’s attention throughout the whole game?
Looks Amazing..., i remember the old 720 arcade game,, we had a machine in our old works reception area was set to 'free play' lol.. Anyway i remember the whole premise of the game being able to do tricks. the prime being quickly rotating the joystick full circle 2 times.. or 720 degrees whilst in a jump was the key to scoring big.. So question is will Repulsive also support physical game controllers.? Thnx.
Some people might know us for our weird soundtracks. And we're happy to be able to have Repulsive's OST available for pre-order on Bandcamp with a couple songs to stream for a little taste. It sure will! Menus will still require tapping the screen, but the game play will have gamepad support.
