I am excited but it's tempered by having to wait till they process however many backers ahead of me to gift me a copy. Assuming they have setup an account for each AppStore.
It's funny how prescient the game concept was, isn't it? Hardly a better time to release a game about a dystopian surveillance state. Probably making use of features in Unity that require iOS 7. Maybe even new OpenGL features.
I kickstarted this game also. Been a long time coming but totally worth the wait. Awesome cast, console graphics. So much detail and care has gone into this game in development. So happy to help fund it. Love it!!!
Ok so it's 15 bucks for the entire game, which doesn't seem bad at all to me. What I'd like to know from the devs before purchasing it tho is about how long timeframe we are looking at to get all episodes?
Right. You are responsible for telling Hope where she should go/hide, and what action she should take in a certain situation, but you are really in control of the camera system, manipulating the world to help her avoid detection. In some cases, if you tell Hope to go somewhere, and then she spots a guard, she'll often back down and hide. It's not all the time, but she has a reasonable amount of AI. And in case anyone is still confused (maybe this info should be tacked onto the OP), there are 5 episodes total, with each one expected to come out every 2-3 months. Episodes are $5 each, or you can buy a season pass. The season pass includes episodes 2-5, early access to the episodes (they don't say how much earlier), and developer commentary extras. As someone mentioned before, there are green "Camoflaj" icons you can find while in the camera's OMNI View mode. Tapping those will show whatever commentary track they go along with. I'd recommend playing with those off (change it in the settings) at first, and just enjoy the story as is.
Hm. So could be another year before we see the end of this thing? Season pass is tempting, and I wanna support the devs on this ambitious project. But damn..a year is a long time, and a lot can happen between now and then. Did the Kickstarter funds bring in enough cash to complete this whole project?
Maybe it is more about time than money. I guess this was a way to release the game one year earlier. I think this is good, this way things can be changed depending on the reception of the released episodes.
It actually sounded like they put a lot of their own money into the development too, so I doubt the KS money is going to cover the entire game. However, since they have the world designed and built, the engine running well, and the story itself all written, it's not like each episode would cost another $500k. That said, I do think that buying the season pass is a good way to support the dev, and it probably will help the episodes come out in a more timely manor. I'd say play the first episode first to see how you feel. If you're thinking you'll get episode 2, you'd be better off getting the season pass and then be done with it. Plus, with the extras you get, it kind of makes the discount a little deeper.
I was excited about this when I first heard about it. It reminded me of an old PC game called Experience 112. The gameplay vid isn't very inspiring. Granted, I skipped through it so as not to spoil things but when I heard Stephen Hawking voice acting halfway through the gig was up The iOS 7 thing kills it for me on iOS but it's also coming to PC iirc.
Well if you're gonna buy all the episodes why not just get them for cheaper now? You'll get episode 2 early
This is going to be my only buy tonight só far. I hope this episode is not as short as The Wolf Among Us.
It took me roughly 2.5 hours to complete the episode, but there are a lot of collectibles throughout the facility that I think warrant a replay. And it's not like they are just some number of random items to find, they all seem to add to the story or are otherwise interesting. Spoiler For example, you find game cartridges of some cool iOS titles that belong to someone in the building. They also give shout outs to some other KickStarted projects like Double Fine Adventure. The test-to-speech thing in the game makes sense, and it's explained early on. It also provides some humor. However, I wouldn't recommend watching the preview video because it's probably better to go in fresh. While I'm sure it'll be fine on PC, and I certainly can't fault you for waiting for the port, I do feel like the controls are basically designed for touch devices. For example, I found some puzzles in Sword & Sworcery lost their magic in the PC version, whereas they felt perfect on iOS.
This may be a stupid question but can someone tell me how exactly you get all the episodes for 15$? Do you first have to buy this episode for $5 and then what?
So does the gameplay consist completely of just guiding her stealthily through this facility while completely avoiding guards? I LOVE stealth games (huge Tenchu fan) but when I sneak up on an enemy I need to be able to ram a blade through his back or silently break his neck and watch as his lifeless eyes roll into the back of his head savoring that last silent gasp of air as his life leaves his body. But that's just me...
I may get this just because Dwight Schulz does one of the voices - Murdock from the original 80's series of The A Team. Lol
