In a year's time with that kind of hype of course people are going to be willing to fork out much more but under the current circumstances when only one episode is released that may not appeal to many they would consider buying it in the hope that the next 4 episodes turn out to be epic but that's a chance they take. To me Episode 1 is not a game but a tech demo and I never intended to buy it. But I'm 'hoping' that subsequent episodes WILL be epic and not just be running, hiding and collecting stuff which is so boring. If it doesn't turn out to be epic I wasted about $7. So far I found the videos more entertaining than the game. They still got my money though and I still have not got my enjoyment yet. So far unfair to me not them.
Because Apple is responsible for devs using Kickstarter for seed money to begin with? And then responsible for making sure those devs can fulfill their promises? Mm.
I hope so too, I hate to say this but I can't see this exact same gameplay lasting for another 4 episodes. While there is a bit of variety it isn't story driven enough to overlook its faults I am enjoying it but when you compare it to the original Kickstarter statement they sound like 2 completely different games whereas FTL achieved what they wanted
For those who paid $14.99 you should seek a full refund through the devs via PayPal. There are those who've paid about $20 and others about $7 season pass included. I paid $6 and so far for me its simply not worth it because all it is is a game of hide and seek. Not even a game really episode 1 more a tech demo. If the next few episodes are nothing more than hide and seek then even for $7 it's not worth it for me. A nice looking environment is a good start but this needs a Hitman style injection to make it enjoyable otherwise just dousing guards with pepper spray just doesn't cut it for me. More tools, guns with silencers, knives, trip wires, tying up guards and locking them in rooms etc.
Because the FTL guys asked for $10,000. They were clearly very focused in what they wanted to do. Camouflaj asked for $500,000. I'm sure that's not a whole lot of money for games development these days - especially one with high production values, but when I first saw that figure I did raise my eyebrow a bit. Finding your bank account suddenly loaded with that amount of other people's money, a web page full of hype you used to get it, and a looming deadline by which to get your crap together and deliver on it must be quite the challenge.
I would have liked to see more tools, gadgets & weapons as well as the ability to gag and lock up guards in rooms and lockers. The ability to create diversions by throwing a glass or some object. The ability to turn lights out or shoot them out. The ability to climb. Hope should be able to kick and punch the guard when she gets caught. Everytime Hope gets caught but she can escape again the same way. This needs to be fixed. It should be harder each time she gets caught. The hype created a game that never was. A tech demo not worth $7 let alone $20 for those who got stung at launch.
I didn't mind paying the premium price. And personally, I am glad Hope didn't have to kill anyone. I have way too many games where protagonists kill enemies. And it's refreshing being able to play a stealth game without killing with no remorse. FPS's just get me tired of killing people.
It's a strictly stealth game. Not Metal Gear which you can choose if you want to shoot the crap out of the enemies or hide. What you are looking for already exists. You just need a PS3 or a PS Vita and a buy the Metal Gears. Keep in mind that they cost more than 7 USD.
Feel like an idiot but am stuck in the grand dining room. Spoiler I've already turned the pictures including the main one over the fireplace. Even got a congratulations for leveling up my access with the narrator telling me he was setting a waypoint for the library that I could now get into. But I still can't get out of the dining room! Door is level 2 (only have level one) and even though I can point to the painting above the fireplace and it shows an open door symbol, Hope doesn't do anything Any hints?
I notice the price appears to have gone back to the 14.99 price it was before. At least the sale was really a sale as it seems some were doubting that.
I was slightly worried yesterday that during the incredibly slow iTunes dl the price would revert back before I could sync my device and install it Could've been a frustrating purchase! Anyway I finished the game today, amazingly that last 38% progress took bugger all time - maybe because I took a shortcut at the end? Was caught 0 times! And pickpocketed a few, I missed that grate between the restrooms though despite having a screwdriver (didn't have one at the time when I saw it & couldn't figure out how to get back!) - dunno exactly what was in there I don't really think the story is progressing as well as it should & why I should care about the characters, there's just so little insight which will hopefully be rectified in ep2
Spoiler Behind the quote on the wall there is a switch, when you activate it, the headmaster's portrait will appear. Make sure everyone is looking at him. You should escape by the fireplace.
So, I'm really enjoying this. Probably about halfway through the episode. Got level 1 access and made it to the library. The only thing is, I feel a bit detached from the story. It's as if a "state of the game world" intro was skipped. I don't know who I am, what makes this girl special, why I'm helping her. Am I not supposed to have these answers yet, it am I missing something? I'm ok with not knowing if that's the design. Thanks!
Even when you reach the end of the 1st ep you still basically know nothing, after watching the ep2 preview it sounds like their main focus was on that before they began ep1
Yeah, it's a problem. Developers of episodic games need to take a leaf out of Telltale's book and realize there's a difference between making five episodes and simply cutting a story into five chunks because it's easier to develop that way. The pacing needs to be adjusted so the first couple of hours are a real "hook" for the rest of the story. A 20 hour game that doesn't really get going until the third or fourth hour isn't too much of a problem, but that changes if those are the only hours you've currently sold me. It's just like a TV show. You want that season premiere to be brilliant. That's why most shows end up with a slow middle rather than a slow start.
(I am down to the last game cartridge and I guess I must have missed a pizrak or so, but nevermind...) I see the game leaves a lot of rooms for expansion but I am not holding my breath till I get my hands on it (I have bought the pass when the game came out). I would not speculate and I am not saying the game is bad. I find it very much enjoyable until I find there is actually no "game over"...
I liked it while it lasted. Wasn't very long and if I had only bought the first episode I think I would have been disappointed. I got the season pass, so I hope things pick up later. One tho that bugs me is the lack of impact getting caught poses. Lost all tension when I realized there was no significant negatives to getting caught.
Guys I deleted the game! Would I be able to retrieve the Season Pass as I bought it? I asked the question before but I don't know the answer!
Yes, the season pass is just like any non-consumable IAP. Just hit the restore button or try to purchase again (with the same Apple ID - obviously). It's impossible to be charged twice for the same product.
