Watching the videos these guys have a head on their shoulders and would definitely have seen this as a 'second launch' of their product as it made headlines and I believe that was what they intended. It sent the main message that to get the discount you have to first buy the game. I bought the game and the video so $6 and a bit. And many others have done so and this has lifted sales. The jury's still out. I've played a bit but I would like some more action such as in Deus Ex where you can stalk and take out guards. The way this is its just too passive. There's not enough to do to fight off boredom. So I took a risk too buying it hopeful the season pass makes up for it. But the setting and controls are brilliant. Just so far not enough to keep me immersed.
This type of GAME 'EPISODIC' like Telltale WALKING DEAD need ICLOUD,i mean savegame storage on ICLOUD,more than any other think,i don't know why they don't support ICLOUD in such GAMES! EDIT: i find that REPUBLIQUE use and support ICLOUD!
I have been tempted with this for a while now but the IAP reduction has finally persuaded me. Looking forward to playing but may have to wait as I have a few to get through.
Well,in my country Are pass 24hour,Are Now 27hour and still 0,89,i think that in this 24hour window the devs have so many downloads,and,6 bucks for every users, that they don't do it many money from day lunch until yesterday, and in One day, they have obteined lot of profit,in term of downloads and total amount of money, lucky you that buy The season pass for a buck,i buy at launch day..
I don't think the "I never would've bought it anyway!" argument holds much weight to be honest. Hypothetically speaking, let's say a year down the line all the episodes are out and TA hails it as one of the greatest iOS games of all time..you're still not going to spend more than a dollar on it? If not $15, maybe you would've dropped $10 or even $5 on it. Instead you've taken advantage of something and claimed "it's better than nothing". I don't think that's very fair.
Its subtle but when you clear an area you'll see 'SAVING' in the bottom right corner before it fades to black. Easy to miss though! Playing on my big iPad helped me see it more clearly Awesome game this, its hard to judge from watching videos alone and can seem quite boring but once you're playing its an engaging experience - I'm always trying to hunt for all the collectibles! Glad I waited for the season pass sale too though I felt a bit guilty since its aimed at the Kickstarter ppl but I doubt I would've spent $15 on top of $5.49 for an iOS game
It's not a dollar. It's currently $4.99 + $0.99 IAP, making it more expensive than most iOS games. I'll let you know when I've finished it (the first "episode") if it was worth it. It seems good so far, but I've only played it for a few minutes. There is no way I'd spend $14.99 on something that doesn't exist yet, and I suspect a lot of people feel the same way. I'm sure the devs would rather people buy the season pass for $0.99 than don't buy it at all.
It holds a lot of weight. I had not bought the game before and had no intention to. Now I did. Doesn't get much plainer than that.
You can also save by hitting the power button in the lower right corner. That saves, then takes you back to the main screen. Cheers.
I'm not suggesting you spend 14.99 on something that doesn't exist. I'm suggesting that you spend nothing now, wait until the full game is released, then maybe you would have spent more money on it.
The game is good. But these guys loyally f-ed up their commerce side of business. They completely pissed off the kickstarter backers by failing to distribute the game to some of the backers and now the episodic contents are only .99 for everyone else, instead of backers only. This is why I never back games with episodic contents on kickstarter, other than Broken Sword 5.
Isn't this the same problem that other Kickstarter iOS games have had, where apple refused to give them more codes so they had ANY way to fulfill promises to backers? Huh, that's not like apple to pull something like that... iOS gaming is a flighty mistress, we forget about games very quickly when we are constantly barraged with novelty. $14.99 is still considered outrageous for a game no matter how much content, I have a feeling the initial sales were kinda 'meager' and the producers went into panic mode. It may seem good for us, but this could just end all development too. They would have been better off going with a more balanced payment scheme from the beginning, the tortoise wins the race every time.
On the plus side, the season pass sale allows more people to witness how good the game is and spread the word & boost up the charts - thus increasing sales, a bit like how Dark Souls/Valkyria Chronicles started booming which both had a slow start till word spreaded
The App Store rules are very clear regarding promo codes. At the time the Kickstarter running Apple were still only allowing 50 codes and nothing for iAP. I have no idea Why Camouflaj decided to ignore this, and offer free downloads to a potentially unlimited number of backers, but I suppose the half million dollars they raised had something to do with it. It certainly isn't Apple's fault.
That's fine and all in their business side point of view, but they have already garnered large number of angry people who backed their game with their own money before the game even came out. The whole point of kickstarter is to give rewards to the financial backers as they promised to do otherwise it's a breach of trust, which is a complete PR disaster for the company's side of view. You can bet your ass the original backers who never received the game will never back this company in future projects and these kinds of bad word tends to get spread way quicker than you can imagine. I feel sorry for Ryan Payton and his company since they are already getting backlashes, since I do know that they are genuinely sorry for this disaster, but this is completely on them and no one is at fault but them.
it's probably too late but I want a f***ing refund so bad... I did not consider it a ripoff when I bought the season pass, and now it's 0.99 for anyone. I tought it was part generous, part supportive to buy that sh*t but now it's a disaster. almost like 15 was the price for the first people dumb enough to enjoy the game and wanting more. what can I do
Yup, this kind of thing has happened several times before but this one is a doozy and they don't have much to offer you guys besides straight up cash and I doubt they can afford to do that. That's why I sit back and wait before buying games more than a buck or two, for example I still haven't bought this game even though I intend to. If anything space is as much a premium as cash in our modern iOS gaming era. It was 'Shadowrun Returns' that had this same problem, where they were unable to give the backers their deal because they simply had no way to. Apple increased the number of tokens available since then but it is still not enough for this style of release. I also doubt apple would allow a 'dual release' with passwords from a site to enable the clone version for backers. Honestly apple has made it so whipping up an iOS game on kickstarter is impossible to fulfill. There is no excuse for this, just heavy handed blind control by apple as usual.
