I thought they didn't use cloud saves, but my saves transferred back and forth between my iPad and iPhone.

I locked in a licence for both the app and the current reduced IAP pass. I wouldn't normally pick this game up, and i still probably won't play the game.. :) I installed it... grabbed the IAP license... and just deleted the app, but i backed up the game with iTunes beforehand.

I did take advantage of the sale. I do feel a tad guilty although I'm sure the devs anticipated that significant numbers of non-backers would get this too.

I guess this turned out to be an expensive lesson for the devs in doing due diligence and researching limitations before promising things?

Also... is there really no better way to do this? It strikes me as a really inefficient way to handle this. Backers all end up paying more, not all the backers will get their season pass before the sale ends, they have to deal with refunds, etc. Is there some reason they can't, for example, offer some kind of one-time use verified passwords to each of the backers which can be used to unlock the season pass?

If something is $14.99 on the App Store there's no way of giving to anybody without somebody actually spending $14.99 (excluding promo codes, which don't work for iAP anyway).

So...technically Camouflaj could pay on the backers' behalf, which would work out fine because they'd basically be paying themselves EXCEPT Apple will take 30% so they'll only get $10.50 back.

I'm not going to lie, while I loved a lot of things about the game, I didn't buy the season pass at full price because I couldn't stand the controls. Well, I saw this and thought "Why not" since it was only a dollar and aside from the controls, the game was really good. Well, once I downloaded the game and bought the season pass, I started playing again. (since it had thankfully saved all my progress) Well, I seem to know be able to handle the controls better, and having finished the whole game, I could now go and explore and find everything I had missed, and wow. I've been finding all this awesome stuff I had missed before, listening to Zager's great cassettes and the dev commentary bits. This game has become ten times more awesome in my eyes now. Please, do the right thing (which I didn't do) buy the game, play it. And wait for the Season pass to go up in price. It's worth every penny.

Not to be offensive but you did the exact opposit don't you think!
Anyway I just saw a restore purchases button in the setting. Can't it restore my season pass purchase if I delete and reinstall it!?
    Thanks!

Yes, the restore option should get anything non consumable back. Also, I did do the opposite of what I said, but my meaning was that now that I realize that I should have waited, I hope others will wait and buy it at full price.

So watching some of the first "Making of" video, I still feel a bit guilty of taking advantage of this "sale" that really was meant for the kick started backers.
If the game devs choose to add a "donation" optional IAP like I mentioned in a prior post here, I would gladly pay it forwards and make up for some of the savings I was not intentionally supposed to have. This game seems to ooze with enthusiasm and enjoyment of crafting excellent video game entertainment.

I totally agree. After seeing the video, I immediately bought second part.

Putting "restore purchases" in the settings menu, instead of in the store menu, was a dumb idea imho. I ended up "buying" the IAP twice (second time for zero, of course) because I had no idea there was a restore purchases setting hidden elsewhere. FYI, buying the IAP again produces a seasons pass stuck at 0%. I needed to actually go hit restore purchases to get that counter moving.

I think it's because they couldn't fit it into the UI. Still stupid.

I don't think you paid twice for it. If the first was successful and you try to buy it again, it will tell you that you already bought it and ask if you want to download it again for free.

Yes, as I said, the second time was definitely for $0, so I didn't pay for it twice. The reason I was "buying" it again was that I wanted to put this on both of my iPads (mini and not-mini). However, when it returned to the Republique in-game store on the second device, the percent-loaded indicator on the Season's Pass stayed firmly at zero. It wasn't until I poked around the other menus and found the restore purchases option that it moved off zero. Once I did a restore purchases on that second device, the the season's pass started to load. Just thought I'd post this in case anyone else runs into this glitch or wonders why their season's pass says 0% forever. Give the restore purchases option under settings a try.

Just started playing it. Looks interesting though I don't think its my kind of game at least the 1st episode but having got the season pass maybe I'll like later episodes or it will basically be a loss for me as I bought it and so far haven't liked it.

So the devs stand to make a lot more money from the actual app by putting the season pass up for sale because I think a lot of people like me didn't like the game and only bought it in the hope that future episodes maybe include taking out targets with guns or straggling them etc.

Just running and hiding isn't really my idea of a game. So far don't like it but will play more to try and see if its worth keeping or deleting.

So far I liked the videos much more than the game. Bought the 1st video also.

Bought. I have sympathy for the developer, but the fact is I haven't and wouldn't have bought this game if not for the discount so they've made $6 off me.

Right, I understand this part. I'm also not sure there's a way to gift IAP to another person.

But is there really no other way?

For example, hosting the content on a non-Apple server and downloading it only for people who have a verified unique, one-time serial key (sent to the backers). Or have the IAP only be a key to enable downloading which is equivalent to unlocking it via a backer serial?

There's absolutely no reason to feel guilty. Like many stated, people who were on the fence gave in and bought the game+season pass.
Sure, I don't know the sales numbers, but I'm pretty sure that they considered this when they dropped down the price. If they didn't consider, than it's an issue for them. By any mean one should "feel guilty". You have done nothing wrong...

Can anyone clarify how the save system works in game?
I don't see an option to save when quitting. Does it save automatically? Only at certain points? And if at certain points, what points and how do I know?
