I believe that this song is way overplayed. I mean, it's a catchy song and all, but it's so annoying, especially when it's being played a hundred times a day (literally)! When I'm in my car everyday on my way to school, I hear the song at least 3 times, and it's only a thirty-minute trip. Then when I arrive at school, during my exam, all I can think of is "Shawty's like a melody in my head that I can't keep out, got me singin' like na na na na everyday, it's like my iPod's stuck on replay, replay-ay-ay", and the whiny, corny, tune that goes with it. I mean, seriously, play something else on the radio! For those who have been living under a rock and haven't heard the song yet, here's the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZoG5jJ3E8rg This version is even more annoying: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YbG3B2rzyAg
I actually like this song (I bought it), but I can only recall one instance of hearing this song on the radio. I don't regularly listen to r'n'b/hip-hop stations regularly, but the one time I decided to listen to that station recently, they played this song. IYAZ needs a new single, fast. On another hand, I feel that Fireflies by Owl City is much too overplayed. My roommate played that song on his computer over and over again, nonstop, for two weeks straight. Then I started to hear it everywhere I heard a radio. Like a firefly, the song just wouldn't go away. I'll admit to liking the song when I first downloaded it for free last July, but it's not really one of my favorites, and it's a bit overrated to me now.
Music is subjective. Unless you listen to music in the genre, you can't really say anything about it. We listen to rock, right? We have the right to say Nickleback sucks, or Fallout Boy sucks, or if we just want to get past the obvious, we can say that The Killers are lacking in the lyrics or The Offspring is starting to sound repetitive. These are just examples, btw. Creed, they just blow chunks. It's the language of rock. We aficionados know what's good and bad. I can't go up to a techno fan and say Fat Boy Slim is garbage, though. I honestly wouldn't know what I'm talking about. The two pop songs I can stand are Empire State of Mind, and Hot and Cold, which is rarely played anymore.
Nickelback isn't amazing, but I really don't understand exactly why people hate on them sooo much. Sure, they only have three different song formulas (fast and dirty, slow and romantic, and slow and philosophical), but they execute them decently enough in my opinion. There's certainly worse out there.
ok i think we can make it through....if we cant make it through this, how did we went through soulja boy?!?!? p.s. owl city dont suck to you it does....lol
Nickelback is the musical equivalent of fast food: It's not gourmet, but it's upfront about that and it's tasty enough to fill your gut every time. Nickelback don't pretend to be anything more than what they are. Plus, you'll always know how it will taste, depending on what you order. But they're not fly-infested garbage like people make them out to be.
Never heard of the song the OP mentions about so I guess I'm succeeding in my neverending quest to totally ignore bad music. I wouldn't call it living under a rock, more... intentionally avoiding the scum.
I'm not saying that I don't like it. In fact, I think that it's a good and catchy song. However, it gets annoying when it is overplayed on every radio station.
