Hey, we are looking at replacing an old Dell PC that is really slow now and I am looking at options. I would like to get a Mac so I can possibly pursue creating apps, and it has better design and graphic capabilities than my old PC. I have heard that macs cant get viruses. is that true?

Anyway I more want to know what the best bang for the buck mac computer or laptop is. Like what model, price, should i get it used or new etc.

One more question: I own adobe CS4 for one of our computers, and would I need to buy a separtate mac-specific copy to mget it on there?

    Thanks.

Macs are pretty much virus-free, just make sure you have the latest updates and you'll be OK. :)

Get any kind of Mac. They're all great.

Also, If you have CS4, you can either:

-Take your copy of Windows, then buy VMWare Fusion and dual-run Windows AND Mac.

-Use Boot Camp to install Windows

-Buy CrossOver to not have to even exit the Mac (doesn't work with all programs though, IDK about CS4)

-Buy a new copy of CS4

BOTTOM LINE: GET A MAC GET A MAC GET A MAC GET A MAC.

Yes, I definitely want a mac, but I will not have the funds to purchase anything to port the CS4 over. What is this boot camp thing like/

Boot Camp? Basically, you can install Windows on your Mac machine.

    Here's how it goes.

Upon startup of your Mac, you can hold down the Apple key to choose which systems you will boot from (You can use OS X (duh), Windows, Linux, etc.)

Then you pick on and use it the whole time.

If you want to switch, just shut down, boot up with the Apple key held again and pick one.

Also, if you're wondering, all the files from other OSes are viewable on the others (e.g. a Word doc on your Mac is also viewable on your Windows section)

Unless it's an OS-specific program or something. Then it won't work. But that can easily be remedied by switching to the OS that allows you to run the program.

If I were to buy a new mac, I'd buy the new 15" MBP.

Mac's are overpriced for the components they have.

    This is common knowledge.

Windows 7 is very good. I like it much better than Snow Leopard. I think you pay too much for a Mac. Flash doesn't very well. I don't care if it Adobe's or Apple problem, but there are many macs that don't work very well with flash. Snow Leopard has many more bugs than W7. I like the Apple computers and I know how to handle very well a computer, but I cannot justify the price of a mac.

Get a 15" MacBook Pro. You will have no regrets. Flash is fine, Snow Leopard isn't glitchy, everything about it is great.

That's beside the point, owning a stealth bomber would be awesome, that doesn't necessarily mean it was worth dishing out $2 billion for it.
