I'm atheist, and I celebrate all holidays.. Though I absolutely hate people that study there religion in Australia. Muslims for example. If there gonna come over here, they should belive in our religion, not that hindu stuff. I think its rude. Got back to your country if you wanna do that.
Christian by choice? Or were you born into a strict Christian family? which is to say did you willingly accepted JC and believe in that of your own free will or were you encouraged/pressured into it by your family? If you were born into it and believe in a god/JC shouldn't you shop around do some research into all of the options that are avaialbe to you and choose one that you feel is right for you? I mean this is heaven and hell your eternal after life your gambling with here... you only have one shot @ Salvation you can only die once so if I was you I would make sure i practiced the *right* faith I mean they can't all be right can they? Funny how the source material itself is so ambiguous and open for interpretation yet preached as the absolute truth. if I was an all knowing god I would have designed clearer guidelines that were more you know user friendly wouldn't want anyone making some semantical mistake and ending up in hell that would be just ungodly of me
I was born into a Christian/Buddhist family (albeit not particularly strict), and raised as a Christian, but soon turned atheist. I have no problems against Christians or whatever sort of religion, but I do have a problem with preaching in public. It happens all the time, especially when I'm on the bus to school, sometimes they even do it on my doorstep. I wouldn't go around telling people that God doesn't exist, or going to the Middle East and start shouting about how Allah doesn't exist, so I expect people to show the same respect to me.
It's not rude. How is does it harm you or your way of life? It's just what people believe, so let them be. You can't force them out of an area due to the things they believe. EDIT: Also, my Dad is Christian and my Mum is a Hindu. I follow Hinduism more closely but am thinking about turning atheist. I can't get my head around one being. Eh, that's just my view.
I found this quote so funny... What happened to tolerance and the rest of the stuff that's supposed to make you Christian? Besides, Christmas was originally a pagan holiday celebrated in Europe before JC was born. It was renamed and its meaning changed when christianity took over. So there you go.
Whoever the **** decided to start this thread, made a bad decision. Starting a thread about Religion is never a good thing. It's a bad idea because - People have different views on Religion and may not agree with one and other. - We have people of other Religions on the forums, and thus no one is going to agree with everyone. - It's going to be a "This is why {insert your religion here} is more {believable, popular, correct}". It's a bad idea. I really hope that this thread gets closed. Last time I checked in Australia you were allowed to practice whatever religion you chose. Please get your ****ing head out of your ass. Douche. I'm not Atheist but seriously good job ****ing everyone over who is on the forum. Your first question was fine, but then you had to go and bash Atheists. Good job Jackass. --- In case any of you have had your head in the sand for the last decade or so, people are very sensitive when it comes to their or others religions. Take that into consideration before you go and start flaming others just because they believe in some(thing/one) completely different from what you do.
Are you sure you want to bring a sensitive topic like religion here?... It's good if everyone just simply say if they're atheist or religious, but the moment a discussion stirs up the outcome is disastrous. Edit: wow the beginning of a discussion has already started.
Let's keep the religion bashing to a minimum, huh? People are brought up to believe in whatever it is they believe. Call it indoctrination if you will (it kind of is -- any organized concept you're brought up to believe is so) but it is what it is. I'm an atheist and feel that belief in a religion is self-delusion, but that's because I wasn't brought up in a household with any degree of religion. I'm certain religious folk think I'm just as self-deluded, and you know what? That's fine. Believe as you will and enjoy the solace your beliefs bring, just so long as you allow me the courtesy not to. And yes, I celebrate Christmas. No, I don't think it's a contradiction. Christmas can mean different things to different people. For me it is not about Jesus -- or not directly, anyway, more like about the sort of things he thought were pretty good ideas. For me it's a time of shrugging off the cloaks of self-absorption for a time and thinking of others in our lives who matter to us, and buying them tokens of our appreciation that they are in our lives to show them that they still matter to us. It's a time to be just a little nicer to everyone if we aren't so much so the rest of the year. And it's a time for some musical classics, great movies, and beautiful decorations, too. Easter, not so much. I did when I was a kid. It was just the usual egg hunt but had no more religious significance for me than any other statutory holiday. We celebrate it now simply by visiting relatives for an Easter Feaster. Nothing wrong with that as far as I'm concerned. Sure, they are intended to be religious holidays but that doesn't mean the non-religious can't derive some enjoyment of their own out of them.
Christmas for me is just a time to be happy, forget your problems and for a few days just have lots of fun, eat too much, spend too much, drink too much etc.
i am a firm believer in a fairly new religion called apptism. against popular believe, we do not believe in good or evil but in "polished" and "unpolished". while there have been signs of the arrival of our messiah on this world (we use the term "appstore"), there have not been any documented cases of his true arrival yet. even though our religion is not government-sanctioned yet, we do believe that we will be acknowledged in the near future. we call on our members for regular donations but only a small number of true believers do actually donate on a daily basis. the highest form of donating (which we call "toffting") is well perceived within our circle. those few individuals will hold up well when the day of his final arrival is upon us. generally we see ourselves as kind people but there is one group of heathens that we do frown upon. people who do exploit the generous system of sharing free codes (what we call "leeching"). that said, it is imperative for us to rely on an ever growing base of sincere members. looking at other beliefs in this thread it is needles to say that we encourage our followers to accept all other religions without any excuses as long as their believes are not harmful to other human beings. we are united under one appstore so let us be united against narrow-mindednes and hate. i hope, i could bring you closer to our simple but honest believes. if you are interested in joining our cause you might want to contact one of our high priests at one of our most famous temples that we call toucharcade.com. just look for what we call "accomplished senior members, mods or admins". thank you.
The world would be a better place if personal religion was kept personal and organized religion was treated like anything else man made - tax the shit out of it. I have my own beliefs that I feel don't require sharing although I am not at all a follower of any organized faith.
