Hi everyone, Im finishing up my first iOS game and getting ready to submit to Apple for approval. I did release a simple app a little over a year ago and I remember at that time having to set the availability date for the app back to the date Apple approved it in order to ensure showing up in the New Releases section. All the threads I've been able to find on this topic seem to be at least a year old so I'm just wondering if this is still the case. Ideally Id like to set the availability date later than when the game is approved so I can try to coordinate PR efforts for the release, but not at the expense of missing out on being in New Releases. Is this possible or is my best bet to just set availability date to the current date as soon as the game is approved? Thanks for any help on this.
It makes no difference. Apple will not show all games under new releases due to well...too many so they have to pick and choose. Not sure how they do it but it certainly does not involve the release/availability dates...at least from our experience. Both of our games had a two week off set between approve date and availability date and both times we were under "new releases."
I started a thread where this was answered definitively with concrete examples: http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=101476 I know how tough this question is, there's so much contrary info out there I think that thread may be sticky-worthy if any mods are listening.
Thanks for definitively answering this! Let's hope they stick with this policy going forward and don't change it again...
Thanks guys, this completely answers my concerns! Can't believe I didn't find that other thread when I was searching...my bad on the repost. Thanks for the help!
