Ok, I will give it a shot... once somebody tries to join my game. No one yet. One related suggestion, though it might not be possible: is there any way for you to filter the OF friends list to only include people who have Ra? I mean I can create a game with an OF friend, but it lists all my OF friends and I have no idea which ones actually have Ra.
I think I see now that just pressing start right away actually may be working, but it confusingly just says "Ready for Setup" again (or whatever that message is) and dumps you back to the previous screen, even though I just did my setup. I guess it's now waiting for the other player to "setup". It would seem they have no idea that they need to do anything, because again the game has never started. I would suggest that you change the way this works completely and make it like Carcassonne or Samurai. I'm not even sure why the other player has to do anything other then join the game. Just distribute the players randomly around the board and start it.
Have tried 4 times now without success. This is just soooo NOT intuitive. Please fix ASAP. crunc, I'm going to invite you. I will either be amn24, amn624 or pistachioko.
Holy crap, this is virtually unplayable. Seven attempts at an online game. I could post pics but this is ridiculous. What typically happens is that I'm eventually notified it's my turn. I enter game to find no one there. I press the icon to present the next tile and the round is over and the score shows, everyone has zero. THE END. Wtf? C'mon Sage. Please.
please add me. I'm not quite sure how this openfeint stuff works. Is it like wii we need to add every friend we have? ok I think my username is mrbass not sure how to check though. I'll try playing but would prefer just being able to join any open game as it's be 100% easier to find an active game.
Hey folks, Just a quick update to say that we are aware of the issues with online multiplayer and we're working on fixing bugs and streamlining the process and we will get a patch release out as soon as possible. We apologize for the inconvenience. GameCenter will be coming after that patch release, but it's a very different beast when it comes to online multiplayer. As far as we can tell, it doesn't support asynchronous play which is probably okay for "quick" games like Medici and Ra, but even for quick games, synchronous play can be extremely frustrating if somebody loses their connection or drops out for some reason. Anyway, the point for now is that we're working on it and we'll continue to do everything we can to meet all your requests and incorporate all your feedback! Codito Development PS You can join a random game by clicking "Find"
Absolutely terrible and non intuitive. Spent 15 minutes going through all the open feint options and could not connect to or find anyone. Im amazed this was released in this state, with an open feint icon superimposed on the ra icon, as if to say 'look how great this feature is! So great we need to ruin the original icon." it's not great at all. If i could go back to previous version i would. Really regret upgrading.
Finally, finally, finally got a game going with someone and I'm afraid it is now hung up before the first era has ended. Exasperating.....
I also got a game started, amazingly, sp it says it's my turn, I tap the play button and a tile appears and moves half over the resign button and that's it. The play button is still there but tapping it does nothing. After killing the app and relaunching it a few times (the first two attempts did the same), now it says it's their turn. The online is not only incredibly confusing, it's utterly broken. I wonder if this has to do with OpenFeint?
While I enjoy the game so I'm hoping the issue is resolved and I still look forward to the Game Center update.
Hi again folks, After a weekend push, we've got an update in final testing today that we believe will not only fix the bugs with online multiplayer, but also streamline the process. We thought it would be a nice feature to allow the joining player to select their avatar, and using the usual setup screen seemed like the right way to do that. Obviously it wasn't as intuitive as we thought! The new process only requires the host to setup and start the game once the two devices are connected, and we've even automated the setup to make it possible to start a basic two player game with minimal clicks. The bugs with completing games are largely due to a misunderstanding of how OpenFeint maintains their game state. It worked sometimes (enough that we thought things were working) but not consistently. Again, we apologize for the inconvenience and frustration here. Plain and simple, we pulled the trigger too early and we'll be careful not to do that again! Stay tuned for an announcement when the update is in Apple's queue. Codito Development
That's good news. i look forward to the update. FYI, one thing I find really confusing, and I hope this has been addressed, is that I don't have any idea what "player" is what. Who's the human and who's the computer? The other players name appears on every player, whether human or AI. Has that been improved, such that the other player is clearly marked, and that yourself is also clearly marked?
Nice call. It doesn't matter when you're playing face-to-face but we grok what you're saying... in an online game, you won't know who is human and who is the AI unless the names are changed. We've addressed that to some degree, but it would be simple enough to add an icon to the game screen showing who is human, who is AI, and who is local vs remote. Thanks for the feedback!
Ok, not only is online not working, but local pass-and-play is now broken. Any time I have another human in the game I get a blank area with a non-working checkmark button, covering the playing area. Anyone else seeing this??
And we're glad you FINALLY bought the game. We were going to announce the sale when the online multiplayer patch came out, but our accounting cycle is cleaner if price changes happen on a Monday so we dropped it today. Tell all your friends!
Thanks. As a possible work-around, can you try turning off the status messages from the Options menu on the main screen?
Ah, yes, that works! No status messages, but at least it's playable. EDIT: and I found that if you turn it off, set up and start the game, and then turn it back on within the in-game options menu, then it works, with the status messages.
