I don't think anyone is questioning that it was worth the original amount. More about the fact that it's a slap in the face to drop it so quickly. The game has only been out three days. It can take time to make money and good word of mouth helps sales.

Dev even said it was doing well. All the more reason to wait to drop it further to not make people upset. There are some that probably will ask for a refund because of it. It's just bad business practice IMO.

I feel consumers supporting specific developers and developer pricing strategies are a 2 way street. Regardless of a value assessment, pricing strategy can affect developer / manufacturer 'loyalty' or desire for repeat purchases. This seems a fairly natural emotion, I want to support devs, but as I can't support all devs, choices will be made and factors will include, the game, current price, developer history (including pricing strategy and update frequency) etc. and a number of internal considerations (not in that order or anything).

I'm coming to this from the other side, not having picked up the game yet, but looking now. I have, however, had this a couple of times in the last 6 months and to say it had zero impact on my future purchasing considerations would be a lie.

This talk about the pricing which I did too is ruining the thread of this beautifull game so if TA could set them apart into a complain thread that would be nice, if that is okay with everybody.

Guys, look at the big picture: we are talking about 3 bucks. Relax.

You should be glad because Surely more people will buy now. I just did.

There's a reason a lot of brick & mortar stores allow price adjustments if a product goes on sale shortly after you buy it. It gives people more confidence to buy. Most don't like discovering that if they waited just one more day they would have saved 50%.

We're talking a luxury items here, not some emergency purchase. A lot of people would wait one day if they knew they can save without any other strings attached. That's just how it works when you have limited funds.

Take me for example. I spend thousands on thousands of dollars on ios games sometimes i did not even play them cause i did not like the games themselves but i admired the devs's behaviour and wanted to support to keep the premium model running. I did not mind the 4,99 hell i would even buy it even if it was 15 or 20€. Yes that is how good it is. Now? Well i asked for a refund deleted my facebook posts where i was calling my friends to buy it and will be sure to leave a negative 1 star review on the app store not about the game itself but about the devs's behaviour towards me who literally think i am an idiot. Was i the only one? Well i can promise you not!!! 4 of my friends did exactly the same. Nice business model they got there these devs.

Sigh. So you spend thousands on thousands of dollars on games, but you're having a hissy fit because a game you liked so much that you were telling all your friends to buy it then dropped its price by $3?

Sheesh. Just enjoy the game, and blame the system, not the devs. They have just released this game, must be delighted to get a feature on the App Store, but know they have only got a limited time before they become invisible. This price drop might be their last chance to get some more sales and get those crucial reviews before they sink beneath the surface of the App Store. Don't blame the honest devs who have maybe ONE chance to make the most of this; blame an App Store where premium games vanish from sight unless you churn out loads of updates or are so successful you manage to get a foothold in the charts.

Go read the Warbits guys' blog, and you'll see they pretty much got all their sales in the first two weeks - and that's mainly because they were featured for two weeks.

If you like the game, don't begrudge them the price. And if you like the game, don't begrudge them the price drop - I'm sure they'd rather be selling it for twice the price anyway.

iOS sales - you win some and you lose some unfortunately.
Blade of conquest went on sale for free this week less than 48 hours after it launched so a 60% price drop 4 days later doesn't seem too bad in comparison.

I'm fairly lucky in that I have enough disposable income to take it on the chin when it happens and not worry too much about it but if I was in a less fortunate position and had a strictly regulated amount to spend a week then I'd never buy a game on release, which is a real shame and can't be good for the industry long term.

Unfortunately there's bugger all we can do about it and I can only hold that the Devs in 90% of cases are doing it to further the cause of their game and not to shaft us gamers and early adopters.

First of all they did not drop it's price to 3 but to 2€. It dropped it's price twice in 3 days. But really how can the devs say if it is a bad or good decision they made just judging the sales they got in 3 days? Also the system you reffer to is made by the devs the gamers and of course the App store. It is everybody's fault when the "system" goes wrong. As i said i am not moaning about the game not at all i was from the first people in here that praised it. I am complaining about the behaviour. They could have waited a week or so drop the price once or twice. It is like buying something in a store then the time you paid and prepare to leave you see someone else buying it cheeper. Would that be nice? If you feel ok with that then that's allright with me. But i am not. I already know 4 people who are not happy with that either. So in MY opinion this behaviour is not acceptable for my beliefs. Sorry if i got off topic i will stop here. Anyone who likes the game for as far as i played it was great.

When the game came out at 4.99 I said to myself, this will be 99cents in about 2 weeks. Little did I know it would only be 3 days #

Anyway, I bought it at 1.99. Worth every cent

I get that people are upset about the game going on sale, but if that's all you got to talk about then please play the game and add something more interesting to the thread...maybe there is another forum where people want to hash out the App Store problems with pricing and devs etc.? I doubt I'm the only person who would appreciate it. thanks.

If we was being 'Grown up' about it, the recognition that many people live on diffrences pay scale and have different levels of outgoing.

Personally a good looking game comes out every week. now if I spent £4 on every good looking game that's 50 good looking games on iOS alone excluding ps4 or steam game expense so in a year I've just spent a 'meaningless' £200 on ios game granted that might be meaningless to yourself but not to others, it's more than a year of Spotify. You also need to recognise that probably more than 50 good looking games come out a year.

so please let's actually be grown up about it.

I've got to say that I'm disappointed in the early buyers who I believe have driven this game's average AppStore rating down in response to the pricing snafu. At least, I don't consider it a coincidence that Red's rating has dropped directly after the pricing changes. If you are reading this and fall into this group, do the developer a favor and just ask for a refund and clear out your review if getting a refund doesn't do that automatically. Yeah, you could have saved two or three bucks and it sucks that you didn't, but you don't need to undermine a business and a longterm project that probably took years of effort and talent to create.

This game is fantastic btw. It "feels" sort of like it's got some Zelda, some Metroid, some Toki Tori, some Lemmings, and some Lost Vikings infused into it. The massive number of positive associations tells me that this game had a lot of love and thought put into it.

I will say on the pricing front, since this whole thing has been handled kind of amateurishly from a business management perspective, I've been finding myself very responsive to the strategy of having the game debut at a one-time sale price for a week or a month and then that's it - it's the regular price forever, or at least for a year or two.

This approach has gotten me to jump on Neon Chrome, Retsnom, Guild of Dungeoneering, and Vulture Island. Before that, it pushed me towards buying Wayward Souls. I'm sure there are a few others that I've bought in order to get the "deal" while it's hot that I'm failing to recall right now. Plus I've always felt a need to show appreciation by leaving a rating and engaging the developer on the Internet because I feel invested in these titles and want to get as much bang for my buck as I can from them.

    Just some food for thought.

EDIT: Maybe do an IAP expansion or something and give it away to the faithful who bought early and didn't complain/request a refund. Can you designate purchases based on price and give those buyers an IAP for free automatically? You could at least solicit people on forums like these to show you their AppStore receipt as redemption for a code to unlock such an IAP for free.

Well said, I said also something about it but I didn't mind paying 5 Euro for this great game, I would even pay 20 Euro or more because it's a triple A game so to speak, it is just clumsy from the Developer point of view that's all.

Buying this game now. Sorry to everyone who didn't get it for $1.99. Piece of advice. WAIT! Add it to your watch list then buy it when the inevitable price drop happens. There are so many good iOS games out there do you really have to buy something day one?
