Well I for one really like the look of this game. I'm huge fan of the FPS genre and in my opinion, the App Store has been crying out for a Western style shooter for ages. The graphics look stunning and the price is extremely generous. I must say though, that like so many others, I've never been much of a fan of on-rails games of any description. HOWEVER, I've always tried to keep an open mind with all games and the arrival of Rage HD to the platform kinda converted me to the notion that Rail shooters can be just as easily be as fun as their free-roaming counterparts. So I will have no pre-conceived ideas and fully intend to give Red Gun a very fair crack of the whip. Yee-ha!

Finally, the previous posts in this thread would indicate that you may perhaps be open to suggestions as to what gamers would like to see in Red Gun. With this in mind, I wrote a fairly detailed Touch Arcade review for John Carmacks 'how can we improve Rage' thread a little while back and as the mechanic of your games are pretty similar, I figured you could possibly find my suggestions useful? Of course, please feel free to overlook these entirely if you so wish. Here goes anyway:

    • GAME CENTRE integration. When all is said and done, Rage is a high-score arcade shoot-em-up and GC is a must for ultimate top-score comparison (and bragging)

    • Introduction of GYROSCOPE into tilt control option for 4th gen devices. This would be very welcome and will provide much needed additional precision for those mutant head shots!

    • MORE LEVELS! Re-running the existing three levels in reverse would be a great way to double the playable levels to a fairly respectable six. Three just doesn't quite cut it. Sorry

    • NEW WEAPONS. After a few back-to-back games, the existing three firearms can quickly become a little same-old, same-old. Personally, I'd love to see dual-wealding sub-machine guns and a proper old skool bank robbers sawn-off shotgun

    • I'd love some kind of MELEE weapon(s) too. This would be great for close mutant encounters, particularly when reloading your firearm. I reckon something corse like a hammer or perhaps a butchers clever would do the job very nicely too!

    • How about the opportunity to PAUSE FORWARD MOTION so we can give our intrepid contestant the chance to take a closer look-see at the various nooks & crannies and grab more booty?

    • Now this may come across a tad excessive, but a little MORE GORE wouldn't go a miss either. Something like App Store favourite Call of Duty: Zombies, where headshots can actually decapitate their victims and having the chance to relieve our mutant buddies of a limb or two with a choice shot to the knee caps or shoulder would also be a great addition

    • Finally, I'd ask JC if some kind of MULTIPLAYER mode is a possibility for the future? If so, imagine how great it'd be to go head-to-head or even co-op with a fellow Mutant Bash TV contestant

I hope this post was of some use to you and I very much look forward to the release of Red Gun. Thanks again and best of luck on the game!

    Simon

I agree with all of that, especially the parts relating to weapons and levels. You can never have enough levels or weapons. It really adds to the fun, especially with levels in many different environments.

Thank you Simon for the suggestions. Here comes our comments:

    • GAME CENTRE integration. You will find that in Red Gun.

    • Introduction of GYROSCOPE into tilt control option for 4th gen devices. Interesting. In Red Gun tilting is an option, for advanced players (you enable it from options). Red Gun aims to provide a fixed point of view, so tilting to change the player view is just a matter of likes. Gyroscope is something we can add in a near future, for sure.

    • MORE LEVELS! We aim to keep updating the game with new levels and keep improing it for months. You won't be disappointed.

    • NEW WEAPONS. Same as previous point

    • I'd love some kind of MELEE weapon(s) too. This may not fit in Red Gun gameplay.

    • How about the opportunity to PAUSE FORWARD MOTION. Red Gun is more Time Crisis like gameplay than Rage like.

    • Now this may come across a tad excessive, but a little MORE GORE... well, as Red Gun theme is more "western film like" decapitations may not fit. But we would like to hear your suggestions once the game is avaiable :)

    • Finally, I'd ask JC if some kind of MULTIPLAYER mode... multiplayer is something we would like to add in future updates.

I have seen some videos of this game, let me tell you that it doesn't seems boring at all...

Sure ATM you only have the pictures, it's not a trash-game that has been done in 3 month the get some money...The gfx are neat, the game is really smooth, there's a scenario...Well I think there's really a 'soul' in this game and you'll love and won't forget Red Stanton...

For those who are going to ask why/where I have seen the game, it's just because I did the music :D

Damatha Studios has began Red Gun betatesting. This means, the game is nearly ready. We may be sending it to Apple for reviewing on 28th December.
The betatest began today, with half a docen internal betatesters. We may considere getting some more betatesters from forums or twitter. Just follow damathastudios on twitter to be updated. Once released, we will use twitter for the promo code giveaways as well.

    Video beta gameplay. :)

Here you can see player taps to shoot and slides to crouch and reload, then slides to line out.

Just 1st level, we hope you like it. Sorry for the camera autofocus :(

Havign just watched the thing 2x I think that you should add some animations to the enemies hands so that they (the hands) face you rather than facing away and having the bullets shoot at super awkward angles. It looks poorly like that, and would deter me from purchasing it. Just some constructive criticism.
