yap go on multiplayer => host game=> and make all the slots AI i really like the game so far but the cut scenes should have a text
yes, there definitely is skirmish mode. . You can include AI players in a multiplayer game with human opponents, too. I feel like starting a thread titled "Red Conquest has skirmish mode", and not putting anything in the thread at all. And maybe just locking the thread from the start. Blue is the same, yeah. It's still a bit brighter than before because of the nebula graphics in the background, but the output for blue is the same color.
lol. John I think maybe you should add in a Skirmish mode menu/button where it'll basically do the same as a multiplayer match with AI but only have the option for AI and just let you choose how many opponents and the map and such. It might help keep down some of the confusion.
How does the campaign length compare to that of GD or GDS (ignoring the easy levels)? I ask because someone left a 5 star app store review mentioning that the campaign is tiny but brilliant. RC does look fun. Are multiplayer and/or or online scoring planned for the near future?
How deep is this game (micro) management/strategy-wise? When I see people saying that all you have to do is poop out as many units as you can straight from the start, I get afraid that this is one of those games where you just keep on trying until you get that "perfect formula", that wins every time. This is what makes most RTS's die for me.
Red Conquest is not really about making as many Units as possible, but if you have more units than the enemy, you have better chances to win THe main aspect of Red Conquest is the micromanaging of the units. You can control every single unit precisely in a battle or you can send your whole army from one place to another. You can tell them to build formations (lines, turtle formation to protect the important units etc), which is very helpful. If you know how to control your units better than the enemy does (for example, try to split their army into smaller parts, then let your whole army get rid of one part after the other), you have a huge advantage, even if he has got some more units than you have got. The Challenge missions are interesting, too. In one of them you just have got two units (Red Carrier and Red Battleship. No money so you cant build more escorts) and need to fight against 8 or more enemies (they are coming in groups of 2, but you dont have enough time to regain full health). If you are at least a bit interested in RTS games, get this one. It's worth the money.
I just bought this game based on the positive impressions here, and I've never heard of these games or the dev. Thanks for the helpful impressions. I'm excited to launch this app in a min.
If you are looking for a quick pick-up-and-play-for-5-minutes game, get Blue Defense, too. And dont forget about Blue Attack, it rules! @jakooistra: Can you publish the music for us? (if you dont want to publish the music files just say "no", but not getting an answer makes me nervous )
Oh, and btw, if you put only AI players in a skirmish match, could you please allow the non-multiplayer menu functions? (the two I sometimes miss are changable gameplay speed and the fact that the game simply pauses when the menu is opened... when in a match vs only AI players and then for example my mum comes in and says "Come and help me with this or that" I can't stop the game... sad )
I'm definitely thinking about this one - I'm currently discussing with my team about whether we want to release everything for free, or sell it for cheap on itunes/amazon, and how we want to brand it (albums per game, all singles, one album for all current games, etc), and so forth. So it's in the works. I'll keep you posted for sure. Keep in mind it's the weekend, and we're all out doing various things... being with family, relaxing, etc. Sorry it's not our top priority on a Sunday! We'll get on it soon though. Aha! That use case fell through my testing, I didn't even think of that.. there should totally be save state for an AI-only multiplayer match. I guess adding a "skirmish" local mode would solve that particular UI problem. I've added it to my list.
Never heard of red conquest untill i read this. Just bought it now and am suprised, what a awsome game. The graphics are unique and billiant. Top purchase.
You tipped the balance for me with that one; thanks alot! (I just purchased it! Such a sinner I am! ^^)
Hey guys. Jakooistra gave me some really cool pointers on youtube. Thought I would put them up here because they really helped me out . Don't thank me. Thank him!
This game is definately not for beginners, I had to start the first real mission three times before defeating the AI. Granted that was because I still wasn´t really good with the controls of the units and I couldn´t really tell the ships apart. Still having some minor problems with selecting units and moving them, but I am getting there. My advice for beginners is to do the tutorials first and then before beginning the first mission, go to multiplayer and make a match against 1 AI opponent. In the multiplayer the AI hasn´t got the advantage over the player that it has in the campaign and therefore it´s better to getting used to the game.
Yeah that's what I'm going to do right now, I've only just started the campaign, and it's getting some getting used to to the controls (I replayed one mission a couple times so I'm getting there). The controls are genius, but they mess with my preset RTS controls in my head. Also, thanks for the tips, that should help me out a lot!
