Sorry for the delay! Hey guys, I'm sorry I haven't been responding here lately! I just got back from a 2-week vacation with my lovely wife out in the Atlantic provinces up here in Canada. I'd like to let you guys all know what's been going on, and why you don't yet have your hot little hands on Red Conquest episode 3 - I believe in transparency, if not completely showing our hand of what's going on at Cat in a Box games! 1) Work on Red Conquest has been sort of off and on, this is in part because it didn't make enough money, and in part because we've got a multi-project pipeline going on here at Cat-in-a-Box! 2) Red Conquest Episodes 3 and 4 are still coming out in their original timeframe - Episode 3 is coming out this summer (and it is getting pretty hot up here!), and we've slotted Episode 4 into our schedule, though the specific timeframe will only be announced after Episode 3 is out. 3) I've personally been splitting my time between two projects *other* than Red Conquest, but it's coming around into scope now, so I'll be asking for your input again soon! I've got my notes, and my TODO list (already partly completed from before), and I'll be re-reading this thread from about page 114 or so for all the suggestions you've posted. Feel free to re-post anything you think is important, and I'll monitor this thread for new suggestions. A re-balance of green and red are definitely in the works, with some minor and some major changes planned. 4) so (3), saying that my focus is *almost* back on Red Conquest means that other projects might be finishing!!! Keep your eyes peeled, ladies and gents, we'll be making some announcements soon. that's about it for now, I'm exhausted after our 5,500km trip around Atlantic Canada. I think I'll go zonk out on my bed now... zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Same... but I have always viewed this as, well as I would Family Guy when it first aired and then didn't get appreciated till several years later because it was ahead of its time. Love this game.
+1, after finally taking the dive to attempt playing this again, it's become my favorite rts on the idevice. there's just so much unit micromanagement possible, and that's my favorite part of a rts.
The only other one I have played extensively is LASW. While it is good... RC is the only one that has actually pushed the boundary for me and opened up the genre a bit. Its the only one I keep coming back to.
Meant on the idevice I have a handful on the app store, but those are the only ones I have really touched. But as for PC I have whole 2 shelves on my bookcase ;p
I played robocalypse, warfare Inc, quantum collapse etc. But this game has just everything that's good about all those games and then some. Sorry to hear it didn't sell well. I've been doing my share of recommending this game as much as I can. It's a true gem. My fVorite game on the idevice. It's been in my number one spot since it came out I know I'm being greedy John but any chance of updated retina display for this? Maybe at least the icon? . I'm so happy to hear this game hasn't een abandoned.
i have another suggestion regarding the multiplayer. Now that in-app push notifications are intact. It would be really cool to schedule a tournament for a certain date and then send it out to people. Then after that when it's like...say 10 min before the match, the app will push notify you that it's coming up and then finally a final notification to let you know tourney is starting. This comes after realizing that push notifications alone simply will not work due to busy schedules. Planning a big party would be more fun. Regarding advertising. Maybe you can say something like...."Red Conquest! is to the iDevice as Starcraft is to the PC" The different factions and the micro management really make this RTS stand out above the rest (amongst other things)
Which of the Red/Blue games do I start with? What's the difference? (sorry if this has been asked a dozen times.)
Gotcha. I was under the misunderstanding that this and Blue Defense and Blue Attack were all the same developer. They're not. My bad. Thanks!
They are... but I think Red Conquest tells the same story. Those are just different styles of games. http://w2.catinaboxgames.com/#games/
I assure you we've developed them all. Red Conquest is the only one that really tells you anything explicit about the world it's in, Blue Defense and Blue Attack are actually events inside the Red Conquest storyline. Literally, the red story arc encompasses most of the events in Blue Attack and Blue Defense - it's an epic story.
John this is my wish list for RC episode 3, I hope the "summer-Santa" (you) is being nice this summer. ^^ Extended field of vision for Reds Cruisers. not at all as long as a scout. just a little longer then blue and greens cruisers. planets for the lonely man, on the map "one vs many" and planets for team maps hay.. this gave me an idea. How about a new kind of gameplay. to win you just need to take over your enemy's planets? could work!
