iPad Red Conquest - (by Cat in a Box Games)

    Not sure if anyone have any ideas for more people to buy/join but here are some ideas of mine:

    1. Make a lite version with first two missions from episode one and include one skirmish map.

    2. Same as one but includes online multiplayer with only one faction can be used. Red. And red would only have carriers, harvesters, and scouts.

    3. Release online version (only red faction can be played but with limited units like idea 2) with DLC, $0.99 for full red and blue, and $0.99 for green factions. $1.99 for the full version.

    4. Contest for people to get the game. Promo Codes, John?

    5. Get new screenshots on itunes. Show green faction and other units. A zoomed out one with lots of units :D

    6. Achievements. We need that. Go for OpenFeint, people love OF achievements.
    - For completing tutorial
    - Finish Episode One
    - Finish Episode Two
    - Built all different units (any faction)
    - Build units to the limit
    - Collect 50,000 resources
    - Win one online game
    - Win five in a row
    - Lose one online game
    - Lose ten in a row

    7. Any more ideas for John?



    I'd prefer option three.



    Fixes:

    1. A bug where some units are moving themselves. Had this problem one every ten or so games.

    2. Kicking someone out of the group should not have him join in again. Ability to block the person from joining the online group. Happened yesterday with this guy name Jhen..

    @duc: don't like the ideas, don't think its that simple :/ And NO OpenFeint! :p Achievements will come with iphone OS 4.0 ? but there should really be a light version! or a free app containing cool and nice recordings/videos of the game, so you can see it in action without having to go to catinaboxgames.com. But I don't think its a good idea to split the game up in multiple parts, that will just confuse.

    I think that people thinks the game is to hard in the beginning, and that that scares people of :/ (I love that you actually need some skill though). but what do i know.

    And maybe the icon should change, but I don't really see how, and removing the blue planet wont do it :/

    I think the game just needs to reach out to the people who would like it.

    maybe 6-12.. only remember one of the games though. but it was fairly early in the game.

    They're only suggestions. It would be nice to see a lite version.

    In all seriousness, I would to see achievements added. Open Feint or AGON, or Plus+.

    About the icon:
    Remove the blue Planet and make the area of the icon that's brighter back to normal (I hope you understand what I mean. I mean this shiny area that's in the upper side of many app icons. Removing it will not only make the Red Battleship look better, but the icon itself will already stand out from the croud :p)

    No. Limiting the gameplay in terms of usable colors or units is not a good idea in my opinion. Maybe add a nice trailer video in the lite version you mentioned in 1.

    Please, Please don't split up the game like that. If you want, split the story into it's 4 chapters (when it's done), but don't limit the use of the units.

    Might help, but really make it a big contest like the PocketGod Twitter Yer Picture Contest. Don't just make a promo code giveaway which is over as soon as 10 lurkers grabbed the codes without leaving any comments or reviews on iTunes.

    Agreed.

    Please, no OpenFeint. If you want Achievements, make an own system or wait for Apple's Gamecenter.

    Change the app icon as mentioned before.

    As far as I know, John is already informed about 1. and is trying to fix it.
    2. is a good idea.

    If John does that, he should remove the brighter part from Blue Attack and Blue Defend icons too, as they would not fit with eachother and my slight OCDlike qualities would kick in. xP

    I don't get it? :confused: Why do you guys hate Open Feint?

    I think it's nice to have achievements now rather than later. It would also appeal to fans who love achievements and real time strategies. I don't get it :( If not OF, then try Plus+ or Agon..

    EDIT: And with any kind of achievements network, you guys don't even have to sign in at all.

    openfeint sucks balls, surely it cannot have escaped everyones attention that it ruins nice looking icons, pops up in game, right in your face and adds a significant load time on my 3G with anything that uses it. i hate it very very much. as for the stability issue, when the quest decided to intergrate it the entire update went to pot. its terrible. :p

    anyway, John's got a lot to do with red conquest (and other games? :O ) already, so lets just wait for iphone OS 4.0, and then we will have achievements, and al will be super (for everyone :p).

    EDIT: I will probobly stop playing red conquest if it gets OF, Plus+ or Agon. sorry John, but I just hate theme more then I love your game :p ;)

    it might be a good idea to wait for achievements, but if you think about it, you already "achievements" by the grade, though I'd really like to see how i stack with other players.

    I agree with the icon thogh i like the blue planet. It totally screams...red conquest at me...like how red is conquering the blue planet. i agree with removing that white overlay.

    OMG. This will look perfect as an icon!!! I think John should use this.

    Just saw it in gameplay with Shell, Foe, Ace, Swift, Capt...

    Thanks yellow carrier and cruiser spam.



    -Top right corner, but instead use red faction carrier and red cruiser.

    For those of you that didn't already know, that's called stacking. :) I think it's a cheap tactic, but I have to admit, it's kind of funny. :p

    I 100% agree with both of these suggestions.

    The little shine apple gives the apps completely ruins the look of it.

    Triple post, but this is important.

    There's a bug where something or someone controls our units in multiplayer. I'd be moving my harvester towards resources and build cruisers, when they'd suddenly change directions based on what was happening. I had to keep moving them back
    over and over, but eventually won the game not moving at all, and just building units.

    Also, apparently we were in the same lobby but seeing different games. Nobody saw my huge mass of cruisers and saw no enemies on the screen while I did.

    Also, there's been cases when only 4 people started in a match, and people who were defeated saw 6 colors on the map :p

    Mr. Kooistra, you know when a unit is destroyed and leaves debris behind? Do you think you could change the debris to match the color of the unit destroyed? Often when stuff blows up in a fight I don't know if it was mine or theirs. Plus, it'd be cool.

    That is a pretty cool idea. :) I'll add it to th list.


    Also, I'm getting closer to figuring out that unit-controlling bug, I think that sometimes the host and clients get confused over which players are AI, and sometimes even add players as AI accidentally, so the host machine sends out AI instructions when it shouldn't.

    Still haven't fixed it, but I thought i'd give an update.
