I don't see the point in trying to convince this person. This is an epic RTS worth way more than the lousy $4 I spent... $2 is amazing and he should be so lucky to spend so little on it.
As a developer, I *always* see the point in trying to convince people. My tagline right about now is "twice the game, half the price". Honestly, the blue campaign is longer than the red campaign, so the campaign is more than twice as long - then you have the ship glossary, so you can compare stats (graphically) of all the ships in the game, and the extra faction with a totally new playstyle, and the extra challenge missions... a lot of people assumed a while ago that I'd release a separate app for this, but I'm not - it's not even DLC! it's a free update, and so will the next two episodes. For anyone not in the know, there will be 4 episodes by the time this game is done, and this is just the second! planned update path, woo!
yeah, now that I look at it, I'm surprised I'm not charging DLC for it or something. maybe I could go for the Hook Champ route, and give all the ships different hats?
actuality, sense I love Red Conquest id really like to pay for episode 2, it would be great to be able to chose to pay or get it for free. Or mabey a donate link on your website.
Wait for the sale, then buy it for a friend or two. I'd be doing that for a few coworkers, but I already convinced them to buy it in the past so we could play...
Only know one person with an iphone, and I think hi already owns it :/ So still, id really like to be able to donate money. And don't forget ep 3,4, sooner or later your iphone friends would al own the game, and then there would be no one left to pay for ^^
Then you start gifting it to people you know who have a device, but are gonna go WTF when they plug the code into iTunes... On the other hand, maybe not - the game might get some bad reviews from that. Just gift it and redeem all the codes yourself.
...or John could make it possible to donate money on his website! ^_^ No but seriously thou, I will probably do like you said and redeem the codes myself

He promised to make all three upcoming episodes for free. Adding DLC to your app wouldn't be good, many people would give the app a bad rating. You could add some kind of "Donate!" In-App Purchase that doesn't unlock any content but gives you money (this might even work xD). But adding DLC to a 4.99 $ app (is it? It's 3.99 I think xD) makes it feel like a ripoff (I hate FAST for that. I payd the full start prize and then they only added DLC content -.-). That's the problem (I can't really explain it xD). I feel like when I pay 4 (5$) for an app (which is a lot compared to other apps) I should have access to all of the content. It sounds bad, but that's how I feel. (personally, I would buy every single DLC for Red Conquest anyway, but I guess many others won't :-/ )
