Another concern against the upgrade units: It will slow down gameplay way to much. Have you ever played DoTA? The whole game consists of sitting just outside of the range of units, slowly gaining experience until the max level, then you finally make your final assault.

I REALLY don't want Red Conquest to become like that.

just remember. These devs will playtest anything they add first to give us a great gaming experience. Trust them :)

doesnt mean they'll actually do it, people are just throwing suggestions

How much depth is there really to this game? I haven't played any RTS before (although I knew the concept) so I have nothing to compare this to, whether on the iPod or soe other platform.
I guess there's more to it in the challenge missions, all I've been doing in multiplayer and campaign is build a fleet of battleships/carriers and launch all my ships at the enemies and they dies.

well, trying to get S's in every challenge certainly brings out the depth. Especially when you have to limit the amount of resources you use.

for every mission you get a grade depending on how efficient you use your resources/time taken to complete/kill ratio. If you do really good on all, you get an S grade which is the highest you can get. It takes thinking to reach it though.

Yeah I'll go back and redo all the missions again once I beat the campaign.

Do you guys slow down the game-speed at all when you get those S's and A's?

Slowing down the game speed affects your completion time, I must point out. :p

I will be on vacation until the New Year, but I'll hang around the forum whenever I have time, so advanced apologies if I don't answer questions in a timely manner.

actually, putting game speed at 50% also slows down the game clock by %50, so completing a level in 10 minutes at 50% will get you a record score of 5 minutes. :)

you must be tired, because we made that decision a while ago as a means to not punish players who simply can't micro fast enough... Their punishment is having to spend twice as long on the level! :p

also, I should note for people out there - the game speed also affects the AI's ability to make decisions. Adaptive AI (most campaign missions, and the conquest challenge mode) will make more tactical decisions if given more real time (I.e. Slow game speed).

So there's a slight difference in tactical ability for the AI as well, which adds a little bit of balance to slowing down or speeding up the game speed.

I think I'm getting my play value out of the Acceptance Level. So far all I have been doing is making boat loads of Battleships and going over to the Planet area destroying a whole bunch of Blue till all my Bships are obliterated. I usually take over the Planet but the mass of ships waiting there destroy it. Rinse and repeat and they seem to be able to build more than I can combat. My new strat. is trying to take out the Laser ships (monitors) first with fast small fighters... but that overall plan still does not seem to work.... Loving every battle but a few well placed space mines would help me even the odds.

Does slowing the game down make the AI better or worse?

Slowing down the game makes the AI a little bit better! :p

However, having more time to make decisions is way better for you than it is for the AI. A lot of times, unless there's a giant battle happening, the AI will just make the same decision over and over when it has more time to make more decisions.

Like, if you have one attack group coming, the AI will want to attack it. If the AI gets enough time to make more decisions, it will likely still want to attack your group. :p

It does not, however, give the AI better tactics. The AI will just have better management of units, but overall, slowing down the game makes it easier for you, the human. :)

    Whoa now hold the phone!

I've never been a fan of campaign games in most RTS games as it means fighting in a series of scripted little pitches where half the challenge is finding the one ultimate strategy on that map for victory but what are these Challenges?

Are these Challenges at least semi-randomized with highscores and the like for replay like your first two game he asks wishfully!?

    Multiplayer demo video posted to

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PYi1JXuCntI

I will also soon (in 1-2 days) post a more elaborate post on the game to the multiplayer update / news catch-up thread ( http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?p=419463 ) and, finally, may also update the main multiplayer article here at the User Reviews forum (see http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=34037 ). The latter will only be done later (if the quality of the title warrants it, that is).

NOTE: the usual remarks explained at the bottom of http://forums.toucharcade.com/showpost.php?p=660985&postcount=10 (see section “4. The videos”) apply – that is, 3G vs. 3G S speed comparison; only one player etc.
