Someone should make a little chart or something with pictures of each of the units with their name, description, and what exactly they do. Theres still one or two I'm not sure exactly what they do. lol Or if there's something like this already a link would be nice.
Probably a base If you can get to the build screen (tapping it, then hitting the hammer in the top right of the circle that appears) and it's able to build a foundry, then it's definitely a base. On the other hand, if it can build a Battleship, it's a foundry Haha, I was thinking that. Kooistra explained it an earlier thread, this one (http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=33330&page=2), but there should probably be some type of in-game way of figuring out what the units are and what they do
I don't know if more units would make it confusing, or even better. It's pretty well done as it is right now. Maybe different attack units. I'm enjoying it as it is.
Game Impressions Whew. Finished the Campaign finally. I didn't have a lot of time to sit down in one setting and play, so it took me a while to get acclimated to the controls. At this point, I still do not have a good handle on the multisquad options, nor can I coherently move multiple units as a group. However, that wasn't necessary to complete the campaign. Someone earlier mentioned that the red player can spam battleships and win, and they were not kidding. Its a beautiful game, and I really enjoyed the campaign. I'm looking forward to playing the multiplayer next, as the blue units were very pleasing to the eye and seemed to have a good deal of character in their design and function. I consider this another success from the designer of Blue Defense! and Blue Attack!. The only weaknesses right now are with the multisquad options, especially multisquad movement. That needs some sort of streamlining and simplifying. There might be some balance issues to look at with the Battleships, as for less upkeep and cost, they appear to be a stronger option to the Carriers. It seems to defy common sense that a Carrier that can carrier 6 fighters and build fighters on the fly played second fiddle the whole game to the Battleships, but there it is. It would have also been nice to play at least one mission with the Blue Fleet in the initial campaign release as a way of getting an introduction to what they're capable of. I definitely think an in game ship guide should be included. If I hadn't followed the pre-release and release threads I'd have been confused when I came under sudden assault from the Blue Monitor ships. All in all though, a highly enjoyable game and one I'd highly recommend.
I just beat the campaign. I didn't expect it to be THAT short, but I really enjoyed it nevertheless. This is my first exposure to this style of games, and I'm very impressed. However, I did feel like I wish I was forced to rely on a smaller pools of units instead of having to create as many fighter units as possible. I suppose that's how you get an S rating in resources though Anyway, the game makes me very happy, and episode 1 was pretty cool. The cutscenes are quite bizarre, and I kinda like that. I really like that the units all look like little microbes. It's pretty cute.
Awesome, John! Great job!!! I want those green units that you show at the end of the campaign... What's the eta?
It gets easier, haha, don't worry. I had to play it a couple of times to get through the first level. Where are you having trouble?
Meh...If this gets online multiplayer I'll pay anything for it, but it seems lame to spend time crushing an AI that doesn't care about the outcome of the battle one way or the other. It's like....wow. Why did I just waste all that time?
Hey all, this is Henry from Cat-in-a-Box, music/sound guy for Red Conquest. I'm glad you've taken an interest in the music. =) But in addition to what John said, part of the issue is that technically, Red Conquest's soundtrack is still incomplete! Each new episode will bring a few more tracks into the game, and some haven't been written yet, so this all jumbles up the question of soundtrack distribution even further. But we will definitely keep you posted when we make a decision, via our website or Facebook or Twitter ( @catinaboxgames ) or right here.
could anyone describe the game more for me? i'm still on the fence about it. i'm thinking either this or labyrinth 2.
Hi everyone! I'm Victor, one of the members of John's team. I'm not sure how to describe my involvement in Red Conquest, except possibly to make an analogy with Austin Powers: if John is Dr. Evil, you can call me Number Two. I like playing as the Red faction because I have a hard time playing multiplayer against John, so the less I have to think about the build tree, the better. By request, here's a link to a picture that describes all of the units currently available in Red Conquest and their build order. Making this information easily attainable in-game is on the to-do list for the next update, but for now here's a tip: you can press down on the unit descriptions in the build menu to read a more detailed description. Red Conquest Unit Types (1920x1200)
In short, the best RTS game for the iPhone/iPod Touch that you'll ever get. I see from your other thread that you're planning on getting both, good job . I'd go with Red Conquest first. SWEET ! Thanks Victor.
Finally bought it and managed to play it. I absolutely love the gameplay and graphics. Its nice to see the team on here, and I look forward to all the updates.
There's not too many units; they're just scattered around I think. By the time you get about four BS', send 'em over to the second resource deposit diagonally away from your base. Have about four more on the way. The first four will probably get destroyed, but the last four should be able to clean them up. Hang in there! Try watching the videos I posted earlier in the thread, some where on the first or second page, the walk-through might help. Is there anything specific you're having trouble with? I think this is going to get online multiplayer, no? I don't think Warfare Incorporated had online multiplayer when it first came out, give it some time, hehe. It's between getting it now with no multiplayer, or in six months with multiplayer.
