I loves the characters and story in this game, but hated the battle system and synthesis elements when I played it through on the PS3. I still played 2 and 0 as well for their stories but do consider the meat of the game (battle, synth, repeat) to be very weak indeed - I will wait for a considerable price cut before buying it again.
I notice that the game only requires iOS 5. Can anyone confirm if it's playable on an original iPad 1?
That was for the original xbox, not 360. I think the OP said this is the first 360 game ported, which the other guy stated xcom.
I picked this up awhile back on steam and was quite disappointed, mostly on interface issues: the battles seemed to take forever (even the easy grindy ones) because of what felt like unresponsive square selection and awkward attack menus. Does any of this change in this version?
This or spectral souls So while deciding if I wanted this i dl'd spectral souls to see what it was like and liked the story so far, budget wise I can only afford this or spectral souls so which should I get
@Bool Zero You are correct. we will update our documentation. We were completely unaware of XCOM. Thank you for correcting us. @Contrabandit only device requirements are 512MB RAM.
@everyone We very much value your opinion on the forums. For those that end up purchasing the game if you could leave your opinion on the app store as well we would very much appreciate it.
Ahh I struggled like you for a bit. Easy solution. (should've been explained) Basically you have to SELECT the ENEMY when you hit skill (or right before, I keep forgetting). But intuition has you selecting your character. Imagine that when you select your character, you're attempting to attack yourself (or heal, which you don't have). Then when you've selected the combos you want to use (if you're linked to another character - based on where you're standing - you can attack multiple times in a row) and are finished, hit START to initiate your attack. Don't fret, I was the same way
I'm glad some of you got past the negative reviews because I officially bought it, installed it (wow that took a while), played about an hours worth (will play more right now), and I LOVE it. The only game with lots a voice acting on an RPG I know is Chaos Rings, which I love, but CR is a very traditional RPG so it plays a lot more simply. What you'll find here is something I think is easier to learn that SS. The great thing about this over SS is it's way more forgiving (plus you can select difficulties). There's also a learning element of mixing different attacks to make a special attack while lining up your troops in certain formations(the strategic element). That's my favorite part of learning new moves by trying out different combos. You even get a cool book in battle to look up your combos and re-used combos will flash so you know what they are. Plus you get cool battle animations Graphics are also sharp and gorgeous. I recommend people a bit confused to stay in the first 30 minutes of the game and fight slowly, learn how the combat works. I picked it up quicker than SS in which I got stuck about an hour in because it was super strategic (more so than FF Tactics). If you love interesting fun stories, flashy combo-making battles, an RPG that isn't the same as all the others on the app store, something with lots of Japanese voices, and a lengthy game - this is for you. Bonuses are a bunch of free IAP, Gallery to collect photos, Voice gallery + profiles and more. Fyi, Conception is out by the amazing company Atlus and it's super hot at the moment. And what that's about.. dating, fighting, and making babies. Only Japan will bring us fun RPGs like this. If I suddenly hate it I'll let you guys know but that's the best $15 I've spent this month. Feels like I got a big game ahead of me. My collector's edition I bought many years ago when the game released and I never played it. Now I can on mobile! -- My only random gripe is that as amazing as the different control options are, I wish there was a stick option. It feels awkward using directional pads when the battle field is usually angled. I think a virtual stick may fix this. Oh and that's another tip for anyone reading this, try out the different control methods for your favorite, there's a lot. I personally prefer #6 with the L shape because all your buttons are in easy reach. I also wish there was an "ACTION" button so I don't have to reach over and hit start every time I want to initiate an attack.
Wow... Agarest War is one polished product. There are 9 different options for control modes (2 touch style, 7 v-stick style) plus apparent external controller support, controls (in touch stlye 1, too many to test all) feel reasonable but obviously a port in their menu based style. There's some redundancy in having to select an action then confirm it, but given the turn based nature of the game not too bad. There's an easily accessible 30 page manual in the main menu. The iOS edition appears to have some sleek mobile optimizations such as airplay compatibility and Game Center integration. I was surprised to see not just Achievements but 54 of them. Multiple leaderboards for highest statistics - STR, AGI, VIT, INT, Luck, Damage, and Max Hits I haven't had much time with the game itself... so... back to it... but so far having fun... "It was a time without light or darkness, day or night..." Edit: Wow... that "Extra Naughty Edition" contained a mouse pad with fake breasts?!? Maybe it was never played, but that sort of novelty seems timeless. I can't help but feel HyperDevBox let us down by not spicing up the mobile edition now.
AWESOME!! GLAD I didn't listen to some negative reviews and paid more attention to the 4.5 android score. I LOVE IT. Its worth much much more than the $19 Australian I paid. Very, very happy with this. All QUALITY. All CLASS. Really cool game. This is a polished 1st class JRPG the best I've ever come across. This KILLS FFT. The work put into this is phenomenol. Love the voice overs. Love the story. Love the battles. Love the special effects. Love the artwork. Love the depth. Best game I've bought this year and in a long, long time.
Guys is this like Lionheart on iPad? Its one of my fav games for IOS but sometimes the freemium part sucks.
