for the exact reason i really cant say. what is important to us is that the game is out now any everyone can enjoy it ^_^
I wish I wasn't so broke this week. This would be an awesome investment. Edit: couldn't resist. Bought.
LOL. I tend to think that myself sometimes. However Android apps / gaming is so fragmented, I'm not sure how much help that would be.
Still think £10 for a mobile game is too much. I know you guys will say that buying it for a console would cost you much more, but at least on the console it will work forever. Where as on a mobile give it 2 years or so and it will be a broken app cause the developer probably won't update it for iOS 9 for example or even if they do at some point they will stop supporting the game for the lastest OS and I know there are people who will want to play this again in the future and can't
I don't think this game will take you 2 years to finish. Seriously, I don't think that devs will abandon this game.
I know that but maybe in 2 or 3 years time you might want to play this again and can't because the dev might stop supporting the game like many games on the AppStore at the moment. If you still have the consoles people go back and play loads of old games, Mario, Sonic, final fantasy, etc... Because those games still work and will continue to work for many many years to come. But as a mobile game I think it's too much. £5.99 might consider buying but for £10.49 it's too much.
How does RoAW (nice abbreviation, by the way) compare to Final Fantasy Tactics in terms of complexity and tactical depth? I am a big fan of complex TBS games, preferably with a combination of many different relevant character abilities, free movement, and tactical considerations (terrain, elevation, positioning, etc). Also, any opinions on the narrative of RoAW? The only thing better than a complex TBS is a complex TBS with a fleshed out world and immersive, engaging storytelling.
Very good point made. But there's the same problem with consoles if you get a new one because of lack of backward compatibility. To play the new games you often need the new console and to play the older ones you would have to get out your older one. Either way they make it a pain to play everything we want without upgrading hardware or having to own 3 different consoles.
Is there a word for "instabuy after immediately deleting everything else on my ipod"? I agree this might be the most important iOS release this year.
I'd say they're mixed and overall I'd say they're positive. If you check through different reviews like amazon, etc, the ratings are generally average or above. If you look at the content, it looks pretty damn good. But I guess for veteran RPG players they might want something more. One unique aspect is the generations storyline and minor dating sim part (which actually got my interest in the first place). Those themes are pretty rare in English RPGs. I hear ya! I just spent the last hour+ cleaning up my ipod. Driving me crazy but I MUST have this game. This is the RPG on mobile I've wanted and never knew I wanted.
I HOPE the game is good. I was merely pointing out the professional reviews aren't great. Guess I'll wait for some feedback here before commiting to buy.
I am always a firm believer of review parity with regards to the platform. I think that for a console game this game perhaps didn't meet many peoples standards and expectations. For a mobile game however, this IS a good if not great game considering what is comparably on the market beside it. There are very few games that offer as much content and depth on the AppStore currently, which puts this in the upper echelon of those premium top tier games, IMO.
XCOM: Enemy Unknown... Not trying to argue, but that too was a Xbox/PS3/PC game and it probably holds the title of first...
I have this on PC, and have put in about 5 or so hours before I frankly got a little bored of it. There is definitely a decent game here, but Final Fantasy Tactics it ain't. For example, the complete lack of terrain and a combat system that's more finicky than deep. For one thing, it feels pretty grindy, which I would be more tolerant of on iOS since you can pull it out and throw in a battle or two here and there. The good news is that if the built-in DLC is the same as on PC, it's basically a cheat to ease the grind a bit. Don't go overboard though, as equipping late-game gear immediately will remove any challenge. So like the mixed reviews online, my recommendation is a bit mixed as well. Get it, if you're starved for a tactical RPG, since few on iOS that do it better.
