I am looking for a good e-book reader that is likely going to be available for the iPad. I have tried and failed using the iPhone, it is just too small for me to concentrage, but I think that the iPad should be good. I would love a good one free, but paying for something special is also fine. Thanks for your help. I know that there are lots and lots - that is why I am asking for personal recommendations - I don't trust a lot of iTunes comments.
There is a native "iBooks" app in the iPad. It's free, although you will have to buy your own books of course. And you can download many books through the "book store".
Not true - you can import all of your existing epub files. Other than that, I believe Stanza is planning an iPad version at some point.
You buy books from the book store. I never said you couldn't import your old "epub" files. What the hell is an "epub" file anyway?
Sorry, your post just made it sound as if he wouldn't be able to read the ebooks he'd already bought, and would have to buy them again from Apple's store. Which isn't the case. Epub is the ebook format used by ibooks. It's pretty much a standard now.
I have not bought any books, just tried some free ones, but could not deal with the small pages. I'll try out the one inlcuded and hopefully that one will be a good one. Apple generally does a pretty good job with hardware, but a lot of time their apps just don't measure up to others. If I could I would get rid of 2/3 of the included apps on the iPhone...
I have a lot of books that I downloaded to Stanza, so I am hoping that Stanza will come up with an iPad app soon. I don't have any idea how to get the books that are currently in my Stanza into the native iPad ebook reader. (They aren't on my computer anywhere--I downloaded directly to Stanza from the drinkmalk site.) Any suggestions??
You can download the desktop version of Stanza and import your books on the iPhone to your computer through the "Computers Sharing Books" section in the "Get Books" tab. Stanza + Drinkmalk = Plain awesome. As regards to the OP, the Amazon iPad app looks cool;
Thanks. I'll give it a try once I get my iPad. I am really hoping to be able to transfer the drinkmalk books to my iPad, since the reading experience would be so much better.
