Exactly... I own a business that I have worked so hard to build by my self and I just wouldn't want someone else to possibly take credit for it. That may just be me though.

Have you seen the thread count. This game would have done great regardless. Us TAers would have drove this game to top grossing and #1 in days;) I just personally feel a game that is geting buzz like this was, would have done great regardless. Now this company is giving what 30-50% to EA. 30% to Apple. Sheesh. I hope it works out for them but in my eyes I would have flew solo on this one. They have a gem on their hands

Finally we get that Hi from PB games after the EA announcement :)
I think them going with EA is a Good move, the higher price will help them give EA their cut, the EA tagging will make the NON-TAers aware of this awesome title!
There are many more ppl who own an iDevice, Proof?
    Here!
Now that was before the iPhone 4 was sold out!
Add another 1.7 million for the 1st 3 days

No offence TAers, this is my primary source for iDevice gaming, however lets not be a frog in a well, the world is much bigger than TA

Let's hope it's not like premiership footballers - the big teams pay a fortune for great players but they have so many that a lot of the "greats" don't even get to play...

Could that be a reason for the delay in launch? Just too much other EA stuff going on?

I wish they could have put it out themselves and let the quality and high reviews do all the hard marketing work for them. It's a very different situation to physically duplicating a game and getting the shops to buy it in - that really does need extra help (e.g. from a publisher). But I don't know their circumstances nor the details of the deal (maybe they got a much needed financial boost up-front).

WAIT WAIT WAIT! Are you telling me there is life outside of TouchArcade?

lol...I don't care who they partner with or what they do, I just want the game on my device...plain and simple. :D What they decide to do with their masterpiece is their decision and they have their reasons for teaming up with EA.

I am not the only one but a lot of people believe EA is just a greedy company that abuses developers, take over series to ruin them and throws out shovelware promoting it as the next best thing and plasters their name over everything and fills the game with their shitty EA Trax with lame music that does not even fit the games.

Since EA got this one late in development then I will buy it. Just like the last good game by Westwood was C&C Generals and the last good game by Criterion Games was Burnout 2 and 3ish.

EA leaves a bad taste in my mouth and always have. I will never buy a EA game directly without playing it first. Then I will buy it used just so they do not get any of my money. They ruin anything they touch for me.

It seems oh so harsh what you're saying, but I concur. All biggish mainstreamed companies developing for the iPhone leave a bad taste in my mouth. It's the indie developers that put true effort and passion into their games. This is why I was utterly disappointed when I found out Deliverace was going over to EA, but I guess we're lucky to see its release at all. Either way, I have a feeling "Reckless Racing" will become a favorite racer.

    When is it coming out?

They mentioned a few threads back that the release date is now controlled by EA. It is because of the EA thing that all communications were stopped to begin with.

I am also saddened to know that the developer will have to give up a bigger amount of the profits to a larger publisher(assumption on my part) which will likely increase the price(another assumption on my part). I usually don't buy the more expensive games ($10) and I have a feeling that is where EA will price it. I bought Geometry Wars for ipad for $10. I also bought AbstractWar 2.0 for $1 by an indie developer (a 15 year old develops it). AbstractWar has more replay value, better gameplay, multiplayer, and better controls. I play Abstract War all the time where as Geometry Wars very rarely gets played.

Regardless I know this game will do well based on the preview videos. It surely will make the charts regardless of EA. I personally do not have anything against EA and I do hope that things work out well for the developer.

I am also saddened by EA's involvement in the game. I feel Pixelbite games will get less publicity and acknowledgement for the amazing game they have developed, instead EA will suck up all the glory.

Even though I know that Pixelbite will subsequently gain more of a profit and chart ratings, it is a shame they had to do it.

I don't really think that it is a shameful situation

When movies are made, do the directors get famous? apart from a few like Michael bay & James Cameron?

My only issue with the whole EA thing is that Pixelbite "might" not get the recognition they deserve. Aside from us here on the TA forums, most people will tell their friends "Oh man, have you played that Reckless Racing game by EA...".

Like I just said above, we here at the TA forums will definitely know who's responsible and who to thank for such an awesome game. But for the rest of the world, there is a possibility they will overlook Pixelbite's name and only notice EA.

Do, I don't mean it is a shameful decision. If I were in the developers shoes I would have done the same thing. Of course, at the end of the day, the game is the same and EA will hopefully provide wide distribution and make more money in the long run.

I just hope it hasn't lost that unique indie feel that I love.

+1 I hope Pixelbite still reap the rewards they deserve and not have that taken off them as well. This will then allow them to make more games :D

Depending on whether this game will be crash-free at launch (no community beta test) and it's online components dutifully administrated, it could turn out to be either solid $10 game or a $5 one that you regret the next day. I own only two ipad games that cost $10 or more, and one of them, Geometry wars, is the only ipad native game that hasn't crashed my device a single time, nor cheated me out of a highscore posting as long as wifi was on. My point is that a well engineered product is far more worth one's time than one with buggy servers or bad framerate. In short, the game looks amazing, but Pixelbite should take their time to get it just right and not let EA rush them. A premium app never gets a second chance to make a first impression. First impressions are first reviews, and so on.

Agreed. If the game is polished and bug-free it just may be worth the $10 price tag.
That's why people are a bit suspicious of EA - their support for games is terrible. I know that they are only publishing the game, not developing it, but any updates would have to go through their QA department. If there is a game-breaking bug discovered, god knows how long it would take to reach us. Regardless of the price, I would wait for reviews from early adopters before diving in.

Every series I have seen taken over by EA has been altered to fit what EA wanted. It never fails and usually by the end of the day they ruin the series after they have taken it over.
