It is confirmed!!!!! It will be released sometime after this very moment that I am typing this post. That is a fact!!!
I think what they meant was that they were very certain that it will come out in April. The 'I will buy a copy myself' is implied as a quite an unimaginable thing (even though it isn't) and suggests that he would have to put effort in buying one himself which he doesn't want to do. I don't think it was meant to be taken literally and evaluated like you have done. I believe they may have hit some hitches like bugs that they weren't expecting or aiming at a later April date. Either way I believe they were pretty sure that it was going to be out in April. That's the impression I got anyway.
I personally think they were planning to release in April as well - thus the . BUT, I still won't be 'counting any chickens . . ." I would also hate to think that a developer would feel so bound, by a forum comment, that the quality of their final product would suffer (and in my humble opinion this would NEVER happen.) SO - to the developer, "If Deliverace isn't ready . . . buy that guy a copy, and release it when it is." Looks like its gonna be great, and judging by the continued interest, your gonna have a pretty good start on your fanbase.
Another thing to think about is this- in this thread there were a TON of user suggestions after the comment about "buying you a copy" was stated, think about the time to implement some of the things. Regardless, the longer it takes the better the game will be so I think that people should just try to wait patiently.

I've heard that Apple has speed up it's review proccess lately . . . "May" still be a chance? Maybe the developers could chime in with updated info? Not trying to rush them, but this one is high on the Must Buy list, and new info is always appreciated!!
i think the game is finished and ready to be released on the app store, except id say there finalising things with their new publisher they talked about a few pages bak, so i dont reckon this game will be out by the end of april - which is a shame. I would luv sum more info from the devs tho
They NEVR mentioned tht they are in talks with Publishers at all...Ze TAers have jumpd ze fcuking gun & threw names like GameLoft & EA... also chillingo, which they may hav been doing (needless to say, or may not) All I'll be doing now is wait for this game to appear in the App Store, however long it takes. Period!
