Played that game yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeears ago on my old Mac, and more recently even on the Sony PSP and Nintendo DS, but lost it's shine due to the fact that game mechanics progress and in that way this game is nowadays too dull....but that's just my opinion. squarezero Moderator Staff Member Patreon Silver Dec 10, 2008 13,714 1,240 113 Male Chief Strategy Officer Salem, Massachusetts, USA #4 squarezero, Jun 14, 2012 realMyst has never been out on the PSP or DS, so, no, you haven't played this version before. Whether free-roam movement and real-time graphics and effects really add anything to the gameplay is debatable (the original creators didn't think so), but it certainly feels like a more contemporary and immersive experience than the original HyperCard deck. RealMyst is ever so much more polished and beautiful, with little improvements everywhere. And there's a new Age that you haven't seen even if you've played the original. penguinspl Well-Known Member May 19, 2012 63 0 0 #7 penguinspl, Jun 14, 2012 This game is gorgeous on new iPad they push hardware to limits I think.Great game guys. Thanks Candykiller Well-Known Member Patreon Bronze Dec 15, 2010 1,418 0 36 Illustrator/Designer United Kingdom http://www.candykiller.com #8 Candykiller, Jun 14, 2012 Having played around with it a bit, I'm quite impressed in general, but it is kinda let down by some seriously low-res textures in places. 856MB (uncompressed) seems really small for a game of this scale. I would have been happy if it was double this size with higher quality textures. pka4916 Well-Known Member Jun 6, 2009 2,584 0 36 Male Wisconsin #9 pka4916, Jun 14, 2012 On the The Ipad2, bringing up the menu is choppy. That figures.. have no internet, from where I am at.. why not integrate it in the game.. geezz... btw. it does not work for Ipad1 only Ipad2 and the new Ipad. volcanopele Well-Known Member Patreon Bronze Mar 27, 2011 303 0 16 Planetary Geologist AZ, US #13 volcanopele, Jun 14, 2012 So far I am playing through the intro to the game. I am fairly impressed, though I wished they used higher resolution textures for certain elements, books and pages particularly. The game can feel a bit laggy at times, but on a game like this, it isn't a problem. I first played the original on the Mac almost 20 years ago, and haven't tried any of the other versions over the years. It still holds up pretty well to this day. It's a real shame that some of the textures are so poor though. As someone new to the series, and due to the lack of any type of mention of what the overall gameplay etc. entails, can someone please shed light as to what the point of this game is? Can you try to relate it to any other game on the appstore please? This is essentially the granddaddy of all those point-and-click puzzle games that you can find throughout the App Store. The basic object is to collect colored pages, solving puzzles to access additional islands and to leave those islands, etc. (You must log in or sign up to post here.)
