So far so good. The presentation of the game is slick, for the outset it looks pretty damn polished. Graphics are similar to that of NFS: Undercover. As Hodapp had stated in his impressions, this can play out like an Arcade or a racing sim. With the default controls, I felt that I was allowed to drift too much without braking at all and still win the race. I decided to change to the Fastlane control scheme (right thumb for gas, left for brake) and it worked well. I also fiddled around with the steering sensitivity and disabled the brake assist. It made it a whole lot better, meaning it doesn't play out like an arcade anymore and it left me in a racing simulation bliss.
That looks sick. I can't take another 9.99 hit though; if it's at 5.99 or under, I'm buying on launch.

Sorry for the confusion, it is the same video. IGN had an exclusive on it which has now expired, so we've been able to make it available through YouTube as well - the big difference being, now it can be embedded on any web page Alex
If I were to guess I would say anywhere between $5-7 would be good. I doubt it will be $10, I don't think these developers are as greedy as EA.
Greedy? They've been working on this game for how long? 6 months? More? Have you seen the photos of their office they've posted and the 20 or so guys working on this game? They could have easily built a PSP game instead and sold Real Racing for $30-40 no problem. This is a racing game unlike anything you've seen on the iPhone. To call setting a price point to something they could reasonably recuperate their investment with as "greedy" quite honestly is laughable.
Well considering this will probably be a candidate for game of the year, I could see $10 as fair. I was referring to Need For Speed. ANyway, you keep comparing PSP and DS to the idevices. The idevices have a much more casual audience for the most part, so most people are gonna disagree with you for supporting higher prices. Take a look at the Top Paid apps, most of them are a buck or less than $5, thats just the way it is ... idevice gaming, pricing, is much more competitive than PSP and DS games given the fact that there's a ridiculous amount of apps being released every day.
This looks A LOT better than NFSU. They could easily make it to the Top 100 Charts @ 9.99. 36 cars vs. 20 cars in NFSU. There's like 3 views vs. the one in NFSU and seems like there are a lot more tracks. I don't know about you, but this game looks worth way more than 9.99 although I hope they don't price it more.
I agree $10 is a steal. The Sims is sitting at number one, selling for $9.99. I don't care if the majority of the audience is casual, a developer like Firemint who puts a lot of work into creating a high-quality, deep product shouldn't have to bend over and devalue their product because of spoiled, cheap, casual gamers. There are plenty of racing games on the App Store, with a wide range of prices and levels of quality that all gamers needs should be more than satisfied.
I managed to keep my zen and passed on NFS but I think my fingers would just click on real racing even if its 10 bucks lol You can tell from the videos that the devs really pour in a lot of work and polish into the game. 10 bucks would be the least we can do to reward them so that they can make more games like this. How about a racing game MMO? (sorry off-topic)
