Real Racing 3 Rants, Conspiracy Theories, and Other Weird Complaints

Discussion in 'General Game Discussion and Questions' started by BrettArchibald, Feb 13, 2013.

  1. Who is rob murray and what was his role in Fire Monkeys? About how big is Fire Monkeys?

About my info, I don't really know how credible it is either. But the developer who works on a car racing game, says he was positive, but could all be false info.

I think Rob already had his sack of cash when he sold Firemint to EA :)

The resignation was reported in the press about a week ago. It's public domain... and my friend does not give a crap and has other things planned. For me I left the company ages ago. I'm allowed freedom of speech - the thing that irks me here is Firemint was one of the best companies I worked for and EA are basically going to flush it down the plug hole. As I said before it will be a real shame when it happens.

I read a great interview with the ex Bioware directors that left. Great, intelligent, pioneering dudes. They said that even with all their experience and resolution it was extremely difficult to resist the EA influence. I think they referred to it as the "EA bear hug". Sorry for lack of link.
In the game dev industry what takes priority as an individual employee? I would expect it to be security and income like most other industries. Or is there an element of pride? I look at Valve. They wont be posting he biggest margins this year but at least there is a respected relationship between developer-product-consumer.

Not trying to rattle any cages but look at this quote I found that a T.A rep stated 2 years ago which showed up on google just now and no I wasn't looking for it. (i find it difficult saying something like this without being misunderstoo)

I'm not sure mentioning names would be fair or not but TA was sadly wrong about firemint.

"Just like chillingo, this will be business as usual for firemint who will now have access to the global benefits of EA" - TA

Well in some ways I actually wish this person was right then the game real racing would be a pleasure and not a mess that it is, not surprised though but business as usual this is NOT.

    What a shame :(

Still, I always knew ea was like it since they bought up westwood... Remember when they apologised for the final command and conquer game because it wasn't actually command and conquer at all? And then they go and develop a flash based game that bludgeons it even more.

When will people stop paying into it :(

    From the same source and paragraph;

"They're not going to buy them for untold millions, fire half the staff, and have the rest making flash based Facebook FarmVille clones" - TA

Sorry but wrong again, This looks like it could actually be a reality...

Sad times ahead for IOS folks, better get supporting those true indies!

For the benefit of impartiality... Sort of I really really, wish this guy was right...

Personally i think it means that money is better spent on developers like foursaken who do a really good job on games like H&C

I know you know who you are that wrote this but please don't misunderstand me, that's why I blanked out your name to be nice :s
