You'll actually notice if you read the thread now it largely actually pertains to the game, with both "good" and "bad" posts remaining. I only moved the totally ridiculous general "I hate freemium," exceptionally ranty, and weird conspiracy theories about how we're being paid by EA here.

    Here's how I see it

Yes it's freemeium we hate it but people waiting for sales did do this(I waited for sales on games I'm unsure of or are buggy and hope for a update) I paid for the chaos rings trilogy at once full price so I'm not a freemeium junkie only freemeium games I have on my iPod is dragon up (because of the 8 bit dragon) and pixel people. Both have good iap which we know ea hasn't had since doing freemeium (NFS wasn't to bad)

If you like this then great and you wanna throw iap in it then good.im downloading it when it hits US I might not do iap or might find the cheapest but just stop bitching good god.

Oh, it's good to know that praising a particular review from an established site for the game is general "I hate freemium" trash.

And thank you for moving my final post from the thread.

What's hilarious is that just goes to show how out of touch most of these flamers are if they believe that there's even any benefit in paying off the media. That's wasted money in a free to play game, you just buy installs and set the cruise control to your full money bin.

Really the best way to send a message back to EA and the devs is NOT to download this when it shows up. Downloading it will push it up the list in the free games and get it more exposure which will cause more casual gamers to download it.

I'm not a big simulation racer as it is, but I tried out the first RR and enjoyed it enough to buy the first 2 games. I guess that's where my time with the series ends. EA has done some pretty deplorable things in it's time as a game company... this is just another reason for me not to give them any more of my money.

That's what's kind of amusing about this whole "#### Firemonkeys, download it and give it one star!" thing. Downloads is exactly what they need, and arguably the most valuable thing you can do for them if you're not going to buy any IAP is just downloading the game to boost it up the charts.

The accusation that somehow the rise of freemium and F2P games is 'our' fault because 'we' didn't rush to purchase every new indie developer's latest game at whatever price they asked of us, is ludicrous.

Freemium games have developed because the technology to bill someone instantly for a virtual good now exists where previously it did not. From a purely technical standpoint it's extremely easy to implement and has little-to-no maintenance attached to it - it's almost foolish for a developer not to include at least some IAPs in any game. Sure I might not want to pay £0.69 for 100,000 gold when I can just spend an hour looking for it in game, but someone will.

And what the vocal minority opposed to IAP in any form fail to grasp is when I say someone, I mean quite a lot of people

It's clear that in 10 years time every game will have some form of this and it's merits or faults will probably be discussed something akin to how a game's control is dissected in reviews today. Good game bad but bad controls. Good game but poor use of IAP. Whatever.

RR3 is not out where I live yet so I haven't had a chance to sample it's IAP but from what I've read and seen so far, I think they made a mistake in making this game free straight away. They probably should have given it a medium entry price(in iOS terms - think £4/$6) made it so that the 'premium currency' was that little bit easier to attain in game but still difficult, and they'd probably find they'd make quite a bit in IAP - plus they'd get the amount we all initially paid. After 6 months or a year, then make it completely free to play. Do it right and you get all the release coverage and exposure all over again for a game and then you can sit back and let the IAP coffers roll in.

Developers have hearts too. Firemonkeys have hearts. EA has a small one. Don't go full rampage.

If having a heart means being able to love, feel compassion and all such sweet things i do believe the dev team of firemonkeys has a heart.
But if you believe that EA has a heart, even the tiniest one you're making a big mistake. It's a cold ,brutal money machine. They have absolutely no interest in anything else but making money. I don't like it but it is what it is. Just be aware that if you purchase anything EA touched it's to squeeze money out of you and not to give you a satisfactory gaming experience.

You know what the funny thing is, I saw some pics and as it turns out even if we were just joking you are absolutely right. It's mind boggling and sad in the same time.

I have to say this thou, Eli is right (unfortunately) about F2P model in general and that it is the future of iOS - dark one
It is not going anywhere soon and we will see alot of it from both major and indie companys as we progress in time
That shift is been going on for better of two years, it is just more obvious now when major names like EA and Crytek are announcing it to public, and major MMORPG are converting to it.
There is no doubt others will follow, as it makes for great revenue.

In theory F2P is not a bad thing, I consider my self a PC gamer first and as it turns out in practice it is a bad thing for core gamers - only.
Games are being watered down, build to be more casual and easier. Not a fan of that,we never asked for that, it has ruined alot of good franchises, and RR3 is a prime example of that.
From a technical standpoint, game is a masterpiece. It can't be denied.
I am confident it will make alot of money and brake some records in process as it is /now available-will be/ to a larger audience just like Eli said.
I do get why they are doing F2P , more money they get more new projects they can make, as a result, we get more games ( just not good ones)

People need to remember that companies sole existence is to make money.
Money makes the world go round, and no - companies don't care about us or what we think about them and their strategies. If the cash flow is good all is good (for them)

I put my hopes for good, interesting and unique games in indie devs
Which will be bought off by major publisher and converted to F2P if their game succeeds - that is the circle we are currently in.
Not much you can expect to see in future of gaming but wonderful graphics, generic storyline, and mechanics built around F2P model
It seems that is a formula to success

I'm not defending Eli in any way, i'm disgusted that this thread was created and personally have my doubts of his integrity when it comes to RR3
This is a tech demo with time limits that you can unlock parts of it with money

Thats my rant , sorry for bad grammar

hey, does anyone know if you can re-play the tutorial that came at the start of the game with the 911 GT3 RS? It'd be cool to do that, since I still got a long way ahead to reach to that car

Tell us something we don't know.
He actually posts a lot and reads the site a lot I'm sure and is very well respected both within the industry and in general.
I'm sure his aware of everything that's going on and is probably equally disappointed of the coverage and the incorrect perception of the forum that might develop, as the rest of us that actually just post are.
Creating this thread was the only real solution considering the anger and the venom and the wildly off topic posts.
The other thread is for game impressions which implies actual gameplay.
As opposed to unrelenting criticism of ea, Firemonkeys, freemium and iap. And then it degraded to even endorsing hacks. So yeah, that kind of stuff is more of a rant and a rage, which I suppose could be put in general game discussion despite it not even being that.
As opposed to even some form of intelligent discussion on the game itself which is what the release thread is for.

    Hey look a real review!

On a side note, lol @ the pruning thats been done in this thread. Devs need to hear both sides of the consumer's take on this. These vocal consumers are the same ones that invested in the earlier titles which helped the dev grow into what it has become. In other words, you don't bite the hand that feeds you, and you don't s**t where you eat.

    WOT????????????

The President of the Real Racing 3 Defense Squad changes his mind and now has become a haterz like his true self??????? Can't take the heat I see. So sad, when the going gets rough, the tough turn into haterz.

You are leaving Eli all alone with no aid. Poor Eli.

The way you behave one might think you got a big, fat check from ea. Or you are brain washed and you can't see clearly. Either way the iap in this game (this particular game!) is completely f$&@ed. Putting from the start two separate 100$ purchases is shameless and offending. And even this won't give you everything... This might have brought the worst side of touch arcade forum, but also brought the worst side of ios gaming.

Eli, your a smart guy, just take a break from the internet for a day and try to look at this objectivally. I know you really want to like this game, now you are in denial phase, but it will all pass...

    Lolzzzz

I'm still annoyed at how people go crazy over a videogame and don't realize that there're so many other games on the appstore.

The only thing worse than this IAP model is the grotesque censorship that we are seeing here on the forum. Oh, but it is 'wacky conspiracy' to call out EA on an outrageous, bottomless pit of consumer gouging.

Can't wait for the full review of this game, where we will be assured by Eli that there is no paywall in this game.

I do wonder. I remember TouchArcade's review of Dead Trigger being a big hoo-haa some time back. They called it a tech demo.

Will they have the balls to call this a tech demo too? Or a thinly disguised game which is actually a blank cheque for EA? What will they say? I am curious.

Somehow I want to read their review of Asphalt 7 to see what they had to say about it but I cant seem to find the review. Any links will be good.
