Jesus, dude. Words. I almost wrote "and I use hate pretty liberally here" after I read my post over, but I got lazy and didn't much care. Funny, because while I was reading your post, I was thinking about how I almost wrote what I almost wrote and what would have been different about your post if I had, in fact, written what I almost wrote (yes, I do think the world revolves around me). And then, almost on cue, your post winds to its conclusion with a mention of how, unbeknownst to us on a conscious level, we are all socially connected. Weird. Anyway, that's a lot of words.
For F's sake, it was on a couple of websites (Cnet being one of them) saying it would be out in Canada as well as New Zealand and Australia. Not TA lying.
Wow, what a way for TouchArcade to treat its users. I had several posts moved into this forum. I can assure you that the posts in question were NOT rants, conspiracy theories or weird complaints. They were deliberately polite, articulate and well-constructed. The only thing "wrong" with them was that they were in disagreement with Eli's point of view. Have a look if you don't believe me - links below: http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?p=2676030#post2676030 http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?p=2676056#post2676056 http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?p=2676075#post2676075 http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?p=2676100#post2676100 http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?p=2676127#post2676127 http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?p=2676151#post2676151 Way to go Eli, keep that democracy going strong...
Yeah, i lost my faith in eli also! I mean, i thought this was a forum to discuss the goods AND the bads about games but that shurely isn't the case anymore, especially when it involves EA! How somebody can praise this extremely freemium tactic is beyond me! I know what his next job should be: head of public relations at EA! Sorry eli, but that's just the way it is
My $0.02 I don't mind IAP, as long it gives really good stuffs, and it does not obstruct me from enjoying the game without. Summonor's Wars, Ascension and Temple Run 2 are those I don't mind shelling out bucks when I feel like to. And for those who say nobody is willing to pay a buck for a mobile game anymore nowadays. Come to think about these: Battle Academy is a US$20, main content alone, app which seems to do so well and the developer is making Panzer Corps for iOS. Magic 2013 is F2P and costs US$10 to unlock the full contents. WotC keeps to making new IAP decks to feed her pocket. Any complaint? Not that I know of… Bridge Barron is still the top notch bridge game in the Store. It provides more than satisfying experiences in both single player and online. How much does it cost? Check it out yourself. Battle of Bulge is another recent game asking for US$10 Cave games are well known for their price tags and well, even though they have stopped making arcades, AFAIK, the mobile and Xbox depts still survive and kicking. Do I need to add more? Please don't stop me from sending US$25 to Firmint guys(only if the AI were as good as it shows on TA Plays)! But I am not wild about he idea send them US$1.99 weekly. I am owning the game, not renting it.
Yes. Add "censored thread" in the title. I can't believe it. EA ruined the franchise and it's on the best way to ruin touchArcade forums. Time to say goodbye.
I don't know what happen here 'cause the RR3 is NOT release yet in Asia. In my point of view is --- PATIENT --- is a good medicine to what was happen right now. Sure, there is a light at the end of this horrible journey.
Anyone else find it ironic that TouchArcade has a go at their users for moaning about high prices and waiting for price drops, when they run two separate apps and a website that informs users of price-drops?
Finally some good news guys! In the NZ app store RR3 slipped to 61 from 45 in highest grossing. The race to the bottom has begun!!
Ummm... Just so this is clear... We are not allowed to complain about the design of the IAP on a forum created to discuss iOS games, in a thread discussing this game? At what point does this kind of moderation go from 'keeping people from shitting up a thread' to brutal Pol Pot style police state lunacy? I wasn't aware this place was like this, surgically removing any post showing dissent. This sure shows how destructive this kind of IAP is, does it not? Heroes & Castles - awesome, unobtrusive IAP that people are happy to shell out if for no other reason than to show devs we want more content. Real Racing 3 - ridiculous, insulting IAP that has been designed from the ground up to gouge the player and frustrate them. This is our Rubicon, folks. Don't support this title and don't be shy to say what you think about it. Spread the word.
It was the most anticipated title this year for me and I really really wanted to like it. Also I am not a Freemium hater in general if it is done well and I don't shy from paying a couple of bucks by IAP if I like the game. All that considered, I am still officially done now with "Real Waiting 3". They totally destroyed the game in every way possible by making it FTP. Absolutely ridiculous wait times paired with equally ridiculous IAP-cost (if you want to play it through or even for a longer time) And it's not even *that* much better compared to RR2! I really hope they crash and burn (sic!) in an epic way, so they come to their senses and make good paid games again. That is all.
I jailbreaked my Touch just to mess with this games, IAP. Good luck to all those who get a taste of my TSM.
Is this really true? If yes, I am shocked. No freedom of speech. It's a right every American has in the constitution. A game doesn't only consist of the gameplay, controls, graphics, sound etc. Today, IAPs/freemium form a part of a game. That is why it is touched on when iOS gaming sites do reviews. Now, of course if a game implements IAPs badly, you get a lot of negative comments. Removing them is not the right way to go and will lend credence to the fact that you are sleeping in the same bed with EA/Firemonkeys. Yes, if there is downright insults or discussion about freemium in general, then they can be removed. But if they specifically touch and discuss on the freemium model of this game then deleting them is wrong on many levels.
Hey Eli, wanna know what is truly embarrassing? The fact that you guys are going to cow to this disgusting IAP model, and not call it for what it is in bold letters across the front page. Bleh, I honestly can't imagine how this could have been done worse. This goes way beyond money grubbing, and if this is the future of iOS gaming then the whole thing is doomed. The full TA review of this game is going to expose the truth one way or another. You guys may as well shut down the comment system now because the dude does not abide.
Please guys don't complain here about the recent censorship by tA editors and moderators. Eli Hodapp isn't the owner of the site, it's Dr. Arnold Kim. Complain @ MacRumors. I just did it. http://forums.macrumors.com/showpost.php?p=16845818&postcount=41
