I like the front page comment section because when you guys post reviews/opinions then we get to have discussions about that particular subject. I suppose that could be shifted over to the forum side where it could be moderated.
I agree. Eli, I read the Guardian article and it didn't like they were belittling the TA community, at all. In fact, I felt the opposite. No need to feel ashamed dude. This forums has the power to sway EA's feelings and clean out the IAP crap in the game within the next 2 weeks. Trsut me, it has that much of power.
Review scores at least have a point, how does this game compare to other games in general, how much exposure should the game get, etc. Seeing a five star review perks my attention on something I wouldn't otherwise consider, like Pixel People or Arc Squadron. I've never gone through a comments section and gone "hmm yes what an interesting point iap IS terrible, isn't it? it is kind of like hitler."
You know I say that stuff a little tongue and cheek. Sarcasm is difficult on the Internet. That being said, EA is as close to a tyrant as you can get in the video game industry. Clearly no Hitler, so don't get bent out of shape by my deliberate hyperbole. But they've done some things to this industry that have had long-lasting, negative impacts for decades to follow. Furthermore, I stand by what I said. All of those groups, EA, Firemonkeys and the developers that advocate F2P, deserve all the hateful press the get, and then some. TA is right. F**k all of 'em.
You sighed because you arrange your "diplomatic" arguments in such a way it appears you're siding with the publishers, while the Guardian writer made it clear that the anger is motivated by reason and admits he has his own doubts about the way the industry is headed. You both use sound logic, but he gives the impression he's a gamer first and foremost. You sound business-like, which works well in some circles, but not so much a gaming forum.
If you guys made a 12 page (I have more posts per page) thread about the iap on the ea page I'm sure that'll be seen. Flooding this site with complaints is kind of falling on deaf ears. You guys got two weeks, head over to the official forums and rant away!
Free 2 Play, great it is gonna be plastered with damn adverts along with having pay options forced in your face every 5 minutes.
What's up with your sudden interest in Justin Bieber, and what does he have to do with RR3, if anything?
Jobs is rolling in his grave with how non innovative apple has been recently. Plus the iPad mini wouldn't sit well with him.
Now I am totally perplexed and angry. At the beginning I click on "no notifications" (don't accept or something to that effect). Then why am I getting notifs whenever my cars get repaired?
And Microsoft Windows is the most "popular" operating system. And Android is the most "popular" phone at the moment. What's your point? Ubiquity in numbers, especially when free, does not mean good. The gameplay itself might be amazing, but I can absolutely 100% guarantee you that this whole "wait to repair" debacle will NOT be popular.
Yikes. I can't play this and frankly, not sure i would if I could. This makes games like Asphalt 7 and the NFS game IAP models look like a work of beauty. Even if you paid a premium price (well, A7 was always just $.99) and still got a few IAPs, it's chump change. I hate but at least understand why many devs are going the freemium model, but this is way above and beyond the approaches of other games. The wait-time thing is used in some RPGs and card games, but in a racer? Yes, even I play in short bursts, but often will play multiple races in a session regardless. I can't give a firm opinion since I'm not playing it, but this sounds like a disaster. EA appears to have destroyed this franchise.
Kind of yes and kind of no. The people shouting the most about the new F2P mechanics of this game are the kind of people who would normally have said "here, take my credit card, I don't care how much it costs" if this game came out at a fixed price. They are not the same people who complain about 99c games being too expensive. So no, *we* the minority did not all make this bed, the masses did. It's just a shame that in the rush to the bottom they ended up making our bed for us too.
