Thank you. I have a feeling, though, that this just might turn out to be another drama like Dead Trigger m
Actually I listen no music... dude! But it's only to say that it's a kid game... or child game, with reasonable graphics!
So if I get the jist right, no one wants IAP, also no one wants to spend up to let's say $20 for a console quality product on their phone. Seems to me either way the dev's are stuffed ( much like most of this thread) no matter what they do.. People will complain about spending $10 or more up front cause they're being robbed, and wait for a 99 cent sale. If its free but has Iap then there is outrage. It would be fantastic if all dev's could just put their product up for free for everyone, kinda like a charity, I wonder how long we would have an App Store for?
Please tell me which casual gamer (the Temple Run kind of gamers I refer to here) would like Real Racing 3? I understand this model in an arcade racer but a sim racer? Sim racers are hardcore in nature. I say this game will not get the support from both the hardcore and casual community. AND contrary to what all the bigwigs here think (Eli in particular), the game will NOT meet success.
You seem to be insinuating I'm confused. I'm not. Not everyone uses these devices purely for gaming. I'd be willing to bet the vast majority of people that own an iPhone, an iPod or an iPad couldn't care less about gaming. So, I'll say again: a gaming platform can't survive without gamers. Furthermore, I'm not confused about EA's intentions with this game. I'm not confused about the success of pricing structures like this one. I'm not confused about why, or how, or when this horrible transition started. I get it. Don't patronize me with your drivel. I am more than willing to pay appropriate prices for titles that deserve it and nobody is screwing me over. I am making a conscious choice not to participate in this travesty. Finally, you can't blame consumers for this race to the bottom. Both sides have to take responsibilities for their actions, and developers use some pretty shady tactics to get themselves noticed.
I've figured out what's been bugging me about this game ever since pulling it down from the app store. Let's take a look at the facts : * Excellent graphics - check. Anyone who disputes this is likely blind. * Constant badgering for IAPs - check. I've already had the game pester me to upgrade my car and buy new cars between each and every race. * "Casual" controls with some skill roof - check. Pretty much anyone of any level -can- play, but there's room to do well within a certain bracket. * Forced wait timers - check. They're prevalent, and they definitely impact your enjoyment of the game, they also impact how *long* you can play before either being forced to dump cash or forced to stop. * Excellent presentation - Check, it's slick, polished, and gives a good impression right from the get go. Now interestingly, there's another game which features all of the above, and much like the above, managed to draw the ire of many vocal people who could not understand how what could have been a genuine "ipad seller" got turned into a money grabbing venture with little consideration for the impact on the -game- part. Figured it out yet? I present : CSR Racing. NOW WITH STEERING!
The comments on TA are now a news story on the Guardian newspaper's website. http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology/appsblog/2013/feb/13/real-racing-3-freemium-fans
Bu..bu..buuuut Real Racing 3 also has a drag racing mode where you don't get to steer. so yeah... I present: CSR Racing. OCCASIONALLY WITH STEERING!
Well, I find it to be sort of embarrassing that our community is now internationally recognized as being terrible.
