The thing is, most people play video games to get away from reality. If I want to repair a car, I'll go out to the garage and change the oil in my truck! Think of it like this: "Hey, I have 15 minutes to kill, think I'll play a game!" Five minutes later, you're waiting for your favorite freemium game-timer to tick down so you can play again. That is stupid. Games are supposed to be fun. Where's the fun in stressing out that you might not be able to play again for the rest of the day if you hit one more wall? The "stress" factors should be in the game play, not in wondering if you'll be able to continue to play at all. ETA: Perhaps you could at least reach a spending cap at say $15, at which point you would "own" the game and not have to pay anymore.
Have you played this game yet? I don't understand how it is that everyone has managed to form such firm opinions on a game that isn't even out yet.
Maybe cause the whole wait while your car is being repaired has killed it already? How about deducting it with the earnings of that race?
That's exactly what I am sure many people are trying to say here! While freemium isn't a bad thing in every way (you are getting the game for free afterall) one thing freemium doesn't improove is the game itself. That's the problem. And come on, in the end we want the best game possible, right?
Real Racing 2 was a day 1 purchase for me because I loved the first game. After reading about this freemium/wait real time for your car to get repaired nonsense, I will not be purchasing this game. I would have no problem paying $10 to unlock the full game and remove all of these restrictions but I refuse to be used as a cash pinata.
Having watched the iPhone 5 and iPad 3 videos, it's safe to say those amazing graphics from the first teaser trailers have been toned down ... dramatically. It looks great, but nowhere near as good as the original teaser videos.
I remember at least one of the videos had text that read something along the lines of "footage is not final."
No it wasn't. Watch the interview with Rob (forget his surname) of Firemonkeys. That same video is running in the background and he says the footage is running, in real time, on the new iPad's A5+ (he says plus, he means X) chip. At that time the iPad 3 was THE top iPad model. It was not the PC/Mac version.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UQhuTO7qcWE 1m 30s in ... watch it and weep. Same video, same quality, says it's running on iPad 3.
+1 000 000 I wouldnt write it better !!! Opinion of inteligent human being. All this thing about timers, waiting and freemium is sick and sad. Very sad. I would buy it for 15 bucks, no doubt. Imagine. You come back from work. You have still things to do. After all is done you have one-two hours for yourself. I want play game. Damn it, but Im not that good in game so I crashed my car. I have to wait. There is no space to practice and get better without paying. If they add option to actualy buy game IAP it would be great, otherwise congratulations you just ruined one of best game series on iOS.
This is from the Android version of the game. Early Real Racing 3 Hands-on Gameplay Footage: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=9j-5IkCiEj0
Many posters seem to think you have to pay with iap to unlock cars and upgrades, where is their source for this exactly? Do not all articles say that you unlock cars and upgrades as you progress through the game (as you do with just about every other game with a ranking system), rank up and then buy said upgrades and cars with money you earn in races? You then wait for delivery of said items and go off and do some other races with another car. Isn't that correct? Didn't anybody read the articles? It has been said that the gold coins will speed up the delivery of said items. I can't find any article that says you need to buy gold coins to upgrade and unlock cars. You do have the option to use them to buy car packs (three road cars, first car in each class and so and so forth) but that's not really the same thing as not being able to unlock them with out gold, now is it. And if $9.99 gives you the first car in each class, some upgrades and gold coin for repairs, well isn't that you're premium price right there? Doesn't that specifically negate all the negativity you guys are throwing at Firemonkeys, EA and Real Racing 3? I know this post is essentially a waste of time but many just seem blinded by the free to play moniker and just can't really look at what you're actually getting if you do buy some iap. Maybe a balanced look at all the factors rather than a semi hysterical over reaction should be considered.
Who actually buys IAPs? I don't get it, I'd rather pay £5 for the game than £5 worth of IAPs, I don't know why. I can't see where they get their money, do people here use IAPs?
