http://youtu.be/LxwHWLKplWE Lol just found that vid funny If anything its probably going to be like madden 13 social, i wouldnt mind it too much. Auctioning cars and stuff :3. But i also wouldnt mind paying $9.99 for a non freemium title
I hope you're just kidding. GL deleted weapon unlocking in MC4 to get more money through IAP. This is something everybody should already know: if a game has IAP, it will force you to buy it. IAP for content, consumables, etc., it doesn't matter. The dev will do any thing to make you buy every IAP from his game. I'm sure people remember those awful messages "You don't have enough coins. Do you want to buy some?" from most modern games. And one more thing: there's a huge difference between FTP and freemium. FTP is just a premium game without the premium tag. You can get everything without problems, but you can also buy your way through the game, or sometimes just buy some costumes. Freemium has the most aggresive way to make you buy some IAP: paywalls. From time to time, you'll reach a level you just can't get through without buying some in-game currency. Why did EA wait that long to say that RR3 is going to be "FTP"? Because that's a bummer for everyone. And why is that a bummer for everyone? Because every damn time a dev says that he's making a FTP game, in fact he's making a freemium game. They are just hiding the unhideable.
My problem with IAP in these games is it feels like I'm paying to cheat. Any car/track or whatever I unlock has to be from my own effort. Sometimes I really like a freemium game but I don't pay a penny because buying the extra gold/ammo etc ruins my sense of progress and achievement. Unless there are cosmetic IAP's or Advert blocker IAP's EA are not going to see a penny from me. Am I the only gamer who feels this?
Uh, i'm a bit confused what do you mean they deleted weapon unlocking? GL isn't forcing me to buy IAP because i can just earn it through playing.
Doesn't sound good. Lets face it, if they are releasing the game for free, then the game will be driven by iap. How else are they going to make money on it?
Really puzzled by this decision... The franchise has been popular in the past and a lot of prestige, so I don't think you can really compare this game to other games in the app store. RR3 is essentially a AAA release for iOS. This game went from a guaranteed day-one purchase to one where I will wait to see what their freemium model will be.
I think it was best for Firemonkeys to do 2 versions of the game. Maybe something like 'Real Racing Time Shift' which focuses only on the social multiplayer aspect with all the IAPs they want. And a proper Real Racing 3 game with a fully-featured carrer mode and pure gaming without the IAPs, or maybe IAPs for those who wanna finish the game quickly. From a marketing stand point, this game will have two major audiences. Which of course are the casual gamers who just want a free game to show off with their friends and compete on Facebook for 'ghost-like' lap times. And then there is hardcore gamers, who want to go through a meaningful career mode and tune the performance, try out different settings for the car, and maybe compare lap times in the game with real life. I don't think they can satisfy both audiences by releasing 1 game. 2 games, each one tailored for a specific audience makes much more sense.
Okay, if this costs for each car I'll just go out there and kill myself. But, a lot worse than it, when I buy some iAP like these, I feel like I'm getting an "unfair" advantage over others. Not that I'm better than anyone at anything; I just choose to spend my money, and that resonates like a lame thing in my head. As far as I can recall the only examples of well integrated iAPs are in Worms 2 and Where's My Water? They're both inexpensive and add an awesome bunch of stuff to the games. But here you should consider those as DLCs.
I've made it through like 5 prestiged in MC4 without even thinking about iAP. Any game with a similar system is WELCOME, because it'd OPTIONAL, and UNNECESSARY
Forget it, he's clueless. That's why I lol'd at your other post. Because mc4's iAP is not even worth mentioning I bet they make plenty of money of gullible, impatient noobs, however.
Been waiting for the game for a year. Freaking LOVED the first one. I'll get it and see how bad it is. But god, who knows if I'll keep it
