EA's Real Racing 3 Preview With Donald Faison (bunch of pictures) Unfortunately, there isn't much pics of the game but there is a cool Real Racing 3 box that they presented to him ,I think it contained iPad. Anyway, if someone wants to hit him up on twitter and ask some questions about it https://twitter.com/donald_faison he posted some pics also "Today Scrubs star, Donald Faison & EA Mobile gave guests at the Electronics Arts office in Los Angeles a private preview for their new game Real Racing 3. " Here are some screenshots I posted back at page 77, alot of people didn't see them
It's my personal belief that Real Racing 3 will be sold for a premium price with the high possiblity of iAP. Personally, I don't mind the latter condition at all when you think how terrible the alternative would be. You still pay for RealRacing 1 and 2. Those games have not become freemium either. And indeed when you look at other premium EA games as already mentioned here before. Or the high sales on some 20 (!!!) dollar titles. I personally believe this game to be premium so passionately that I am telling you guys here and now that I will eat my iPhone 4 if this game does turn out to be freemium. Yes, I do agree that once you get in the action it really doesn't matter anymore. But here is the difference: in Real Racing I use the cockpit view (near static) and LOVE watching the replays (much slower panning scenery.)
I'm afraid about freeminum. U see on their TV in upper right corner RS and C numbers? RS is like XP, C - coins, so, IAP possible.
I would be really really suprised if the game was freemium. But at the same time, is anyone really expecting the game to be IAP-Free? I mean, don't get me wrong, i'd like that but there's no way this is gonna be the case here. I just hope it doesn't ruin the gameplay.
I do expect to see IAPs, and I personally think they'll be somewhat intrusive like Most Wanted, but I don't want RR3 to be the next CSR Racing, which is almost useless without IAPs. I can't wait for next Tuesday for EA's San Francisco event. They're all clear everything up, and give us a release date.
If RR3 was freemium... I'll play it but a little bit Actually I'll start to wait for: Fast and Furious 6 - BY Kabam Studio (Android & iOS) Release 24.05.13
I agree, iap free would be nice. But you're also very right that it just can't be that way. Just about everything that comes out now (and with a long time now) has iap. It is the business model of the App Store and it is the best way to maximise profits. Which is necessary if we want to someday see a Real Racing 4. Or another Dead Space. I also hope it doesn't break the gameplay but I am already committed to getting iap when it does come out. I'd just like to have an Aventador early Anyway, at the end of the day, you can either buy iap, everyone has the choice, or you can grind away to earn. And is it really grinding if the game is very enjoyable? Surely its just playing more.
This is now an EA game, of course it will have IAP Going to milk this cow until the milk runs dry, and then keep on trying until the cow dies.
If people stopped paying for iAPs then they would be forced to develop games without it. Simple as that but clearly won't happen. If games are free or 69p maybe bit more, then iAP would be acceptable. But these games that cost £5+ asking for iAP is an absolute joke. These big game companies are not broke, people always buy their games, so its a joke that they expect people to pay more than they already have.
Not really a joke. It's just a way of maximising their profits. Apple does it all the time by charging more for a product considering the cost of the raw materials and manufacturing in any iDevice. So does BMW. Lexus once charged me 5000 for a radio and a sat nav screen. It's what every business does, they want to make money as well. If you can get the millions of people who currently buy iap to stop, well then the business model would have to change. We all know that's not gonna happen anytime soon though because people complain too much when a game is more than 99 cent anyway. I'm glad I'm not a developer trying to make money on the App Store because you're damned if you do and you're broke if you don't.
While I don't disagree (at all) with any of the above points, let's not let this thread become a debate on IAP ethics (or lack thereof) like so many others before it. They're there, they're not going anywhere, and for now there's nothing any of us can do about it. That said, press the damn "release" button already EA! If I'm left drooling over trailers and dev diaries much longer, I'm gonna die of dehydration!
I think there is some other press event next week, Tuesday maybe. Which kinda disappointed me because after there was an event in LA last night, I was hoping for a sudden worldwide drop. Next week maybe. Hopefully.
Sure is, but i wouldn't ponic about it In new Pocket Gamer podcast they talk quite a bit (@10 minute mark) about RR3 and possibility of it being F2P. My guess is they will release it on 21st, because next week we will have alot info on it since they are doing that event for journalists
Dudes What's going on with those developers? Canceling games, delaying games, putting games on hold... The problem is exactly they believe they are superstars (like Rig73 said) which hampers the part they play. Which is not the specific case of this forum here.
http://www.touchgen.net/real-racing-3-coming-feb-28th Yes, finally They weren't joking when they said "End of february"!
First, let me make it clear that no official announcement has been made as to wether RR3 will be freemium or IAP driven. The conversation has confused some members into giving up on iOS gaming completely (or at least saying for melodrama). That said, the issue with IAP is not as simple as "don't buy it if you don't want it." Freemium and IAP-heavy games are designed differently -- they cultivate the kind of gamer frustration that tradionally-priced games try to avoid. Think of the ridiculous difficulty spikes in the later Zenonia titles, or the tier gaps in many freemium racers. Freemium games also tend to discourage or evev disregard skill in favor of brute force, which comes either through massive grinding or, most likely, IAPs. With a few exceptions, games that feature only cosmetic IAPs or DLC tend to perform poorly compared to the more aggressive freemium models (think Punch Quest). In any event, we're squarely off topic here.
