It's not surprising. It's a really good game. The only one's upset are the kiddies who can't handle the game mechanics. It's really good for grown up older gamers particularly. My friends are eating it up. Service system makes Driving skill > free time to waste on a game. Like none of us have any more like when we were in college. In Mario, it's don't run face first into a goompa. In RR3, it's don't ram your car into shit or your service times escalate. Now that I've got several cars, continuous play. 1 Get 5-6 races out of one car, put it in for service. 2 Pick another car, race it, put it in for service. 3 Check first car, if not done, repeat 2.
Thank you! I only scored a 3rd place this am on my first try. Everyone has same weekly challenge right? GT3 RS was going to be my next car anyway, due to the different new race series it opens up. Then when I saw it was 50% off for that. I was like OMG, I just spent all my dough on GT500 upgrades, 'but MUST grind this out NOW!'. And I did Sweetness! I would have spent $1.99 to boost funds up... but since I don't really live in NZ, don't have CCwith address there... etc... oh well. I send a couple bucks Firemint's way when it's finally released. I drove all my cars into the ground, saving vs. repairing, in order to get from broke to $86K. Didn't know if 50% discount was temporary, so I didn't want to wait. I didn't notice the discount banner the other day when GT3 first went up... Then repaired all at once, LOL. Ending a great run... was bed time anyway.
The target market I think plays perfectly into skilled gamers who have grown up and have other hobbies, and life. These gamers will do other things in life. House/yard chores and maintenance, real car maintenance, time with wife/kids/friends, other hobbies while the timers tick, tasks are endless.
Sorry, that's not their target. Their target is the "gamer" who doesn't have other things to spend time on, therefore they end up spending money on getting the timers eliminated. That's their target.
was checking to see if RR3 was released in the US yet. I typed "real racing" in the search bar, and Real Racing/2/HD games aren't showing up any more for me. US store. @timicro Your car looks better than mine would lol.
O M G... never. ow. Short-ish races are good. Sometimes 1-2 lap isn't long enough to overtake all the cars. 3-4 seems like a decent sweetspot. If I can't in that number of laps, probably won't. But THAT is painful. I just realized, no leaderboards in gamecenter you would have held that statistic for awhile.
Hmm, the way you drive doesn't particularly affect your service times. I rarely crash or go off course these days but my car only holds up for 5 to 6 events on average, sometimes much less. And stop intimidating everyone here dude. You had your time in college to play games. Now it's our turn.
MECHANICS... They need to make money out of this game for us to eventuallly see a RR4. They need another IAP feature. Let me explain. Starter packs are good for kick starting the game. You buy additional cars at a bargain so you can switch between cars and play more consistently. R$ is to buy things mostly. But it will become essential for not-so-good-driving casual players who beat their car more than they earn. Gold coin is for impatience management and to buy top upgrades and cars and painting. They are too expensive I think, but you pretty much choose what fits you with them. One problem is that a player that is enough of a good driver and patient enough will quickly reach a point where he has a few cars, he gains R$ consistently and is saving his gold coins to buy stuff rather than spend it on repairs. How can EA get money out of this guy? By offering him what he should have had in the beginning: paying for a playable game. And MECHANICS would do just that. Let's say EA keeps long repair and servicing time (hey, it's a free game, so). You buy mechanics to improve wait times: 1 mechanic: -10% - 2$ 2 mechanics: -25% - 5$ 3 mechanics: -50% - 10$ Pit Crew: -90% - 20$ Wait timers are part of the game and they impact how well you will tend to drive. But without resorting only to gold to save time. That's a feature I would buy. Because I honestly feel I owe EA/FM some money for this game, but not in the amounts suggested so far. Mechanics seem a reasonable approach to me.
Great idea ! It would be almost like buying full game. I like idea of repairing and servicing, they just need to make easier to manage it.
Not bad. I like, would consider. Along similar veins as Jetpack Joyride's pay extra for a coin doubler boosting earning. But this keeps it in context of the game.
Euhmm i'm upset and i'm 34 btw!! Fyi service times have absolutely NOTHING to do with how messed up your car is.
Exactly. Repair times for damage isn't bad at all. The service times are horrid to say the least at this point.
Just when you thought it was safe to go back to youtube Part 2 has landed. Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel
At 2:26 of that video, I knew I [F34RTEHR34PER] was beaten already lol. Love your videos btw. Hopefully my next video will be a lot better than the last one I posted. Out of curiosity, how are you getting such a clear commentary recorded while you're playing?
Sorry to ask again (will be last time for a while), but has anybody been stuck to where the program crashes and quits to home at the start of every race? Haven't updated.
What determines the reward at the end of a race? I've just improved my position from 2 to 1 on Turbo Burst Australian Open Cup in my BMW Z4 sDrive and I got rewarded 12k credits. I'm pretty sure the first time I did this race it paid a lot less. It would be nice if it was made clear upfront what kind of reward you're racing for.
I think your driver level has a lot to do with it. The higher the level, the harder it gets, the more rewarding it is. And the duration of the race. Endurance races pays more with longer km. I got 24k for my 67.2km run yesterday.
