If you play strictly offline, it may be possible to complete game, since you can win with sub-par cars if you exploit the various shortcuts. However, if you play online, you have no chance. The 3000-4000 gold coins you get from leveling to level 1000+ (that will take about 500 hours, even assuming the level progression is linear) are not nearly enough to upgrade the top cars. The Agera R fully upgraded costs more than 1500 gold coins alone. So, you can drive the top cars, but you can't win online since you'll compete with upgraded cars. You won't earn the gold medals online. You might complete the game offline, though, once a few of the times are corrected.

Still, the amount of gold you can earn remains a paywall. Even if you grind to level 2000 (1000+ hours), you still won't be able to upgrade everything.

All of that is assuming that you never cave in and spend any gold on a timer. Which becomes a problem, because in the later races with the supercars, I find that a service of at least one items and often of several items is necessary after every single race.

  2. Yeah, I see your point that definitely most games with inapps, you really don't have to spend the total amount that could be purchased, but just was shocked that he seemed to view this total so high at $5000.

Seems to me, as I mentioned before, that many games are designed for total inapp purchases to be around $100-$200 or so. With the developer hoping that people would buy around $10 which should suffice to finish the game completely without fancy things like paint jobs, extra cars, no waits etc.

But really only people who are close to completing or have completed the game would really have a good idea, and with the flack about RR3 have cars that are $100 us dollars to buy, for some that has completed the game, it could be possible that if you bought all inapps and bought to negate all wait timers, the game could total $5000 total.

But of course as you say, this doesn't mean much. The main question that most people have in mind now is how much would an average (not semi pro TA user) realistically have to shell out to get a couple of good cars, maybe pay for a little wait timers, etc, and be able to finish the game.

But you are right, that $5000 figure does just fuel more ranting, especially from people that haven't played the game yet. I kind of wish EA started off this whole wait timer and freemium modelling a little slower instead of trying to get so much from this game, but anyway, maybe they will reduce some of the inapp prices, even though I don't know how you could do that cause some people have already bought them, and they would be mad to get early adopter blues from these inapp purchases. Unless they get an early adopter bonus for the inapps purchases maybe.

    I dunno...

I should have stopped reading after you said you haven't played yet, but I kept going, against my better judgement.

This AI is more fun to play against than any AI I've ever played across all platforms, including every iteration of the Forza series and the first 3 GT games.

Damage is a little dodgy. If you run into a wall going 150mph, things should be a lot rougher than they are in-game. That being said, with their current IAP model, EA would catch quite a bit of heat if you had to realistically rebuild every time you realistically wrecked. Be careful what you ask for. Ultimately, running into walls negatively affects your performance, and if you do it enough in one race, you won't be competitive until you fix it up.

The game scales based on the upgrades you're using. You don't have to purchase every upgrade to stay competitive on the tracks you have yet to gold. Once you gold them, staying competitive with your TSM friends is a different story, but whether or not you choose those last few upgrades is irrelevant to successfully completing the various circuits.

I don't understand how you can make judgements based on something you haven't spent any time on. Everyone is entitled to an opinion, but at least make it an informed one based on personal experience with the product.

I am not defending the game, it still has flaws that need some ironing out, but rate it after you play it for a while.

For those struggling have a play with different camera angles. The game looks spectacular from behind the car but from behind the wheel you are able to judge corners and braking significantly better

  7. Nightc1, funny how I posted how sad it was that there were very few TA high post rate senior members posting here, then you come in, and are shown the door. Oh well. That's how life goes I guess. ;)

I disagree with your review and my reasons why

The games now infamous timers have been reduced to a more playable time. Many believe that the original times being to long was just set as that to test out the server(s) load before the OFFICIAL launch in few weeks remember its not OFFICIALLY out as yet. There is nothing stop a player from doing one series then going to another series to wait the repair of the car then swapping back.

You can learn and master a stage without buying IAP, its possble to become first in a stage without modding the car BEFORE you take on your friends.

Its possble to finish first in each stage, of course you will need to apply upgrades to your car as you progress due to stages getting harder. The only time it gets really hard is when you up against your friends times when you come back to the stage. On doing a stage again with your friends you may not come top but you still get award for doing the stage and a bonus for beating your friends i have awards of 10,000 bonus just for beating my friends so its not at all impossble to get half the cars infact right now if i wanted i can buy one of the Race Spec Sports cars if i wish and thats from around 3 days playing only without the use of IAP

Yes there are upgrades but i have yet not come across upgrade that is more expensive then the car itself so far. Maybe if you ADD them all up in total they maybe as dear as the car?? I cant comment on the wait times for the high cars as i not got one and once again since times have been reduced maybe this apply to car bits as well

I like to know where you get your figures from more so it costing you a eye watering $5,000 maybe in Virtual money then yes, when you have more then car to look after of course its going to cost you Virtual money but you dont have to spend ANY real money if you so wish to keep them on the track. For around £34 (i think) you can buy one of the Gold sports cars BUT you can still get it from gold you earn each time you level up or get so far in a stage without having to use IAP, there is 1000 levels remember...

You dont have a console machine in your hands this game has been designed for moblie phones and tablets the game is 2gig as it is if you doing to want depth its going to be too big for it to be portable....... there is only so much that they can put into the game

Exploit by cutting corners....ok i take it you not real racing on TV and how many times Racing Drivers do cut the corners to get them save themselfs them extra seconds....thats not exploiting that's called skillfully driving.

There been photos publish of cars appering where they shouldnt but how do you know its a hack and not a bug? Plus if you have lot of GC friends they will take up all the positions first before adding other players to fill up the numbers, you wont come across many hackers unless its your own friend then remove him from your GC list.....

Offline or Online doing a stage for the FIRST time is not that hard to finish first, it gets hard when you take on real times either against friends and other people.

  9. Switching topics completely...

So what if I felt like a complete tool taking selfies in the car by myself. I'm hoping the intimidation factor will be worth it

Interesting. I've read mostly complaints about the AI being... well.. not very AI like. That the other cars tend to stack up and don't react realistically (even at all) to you being there.

I appreciate you looking past my not having played the game. Connector was wondering where the regs are... I was mainly piping up to just give him a little feedback of where I was on all of this (hence the quote).

How do you make purchasing decisions? I do a little research ahead of time and seek user feedback to help make decisions. Sometimes I fly in the face of others negative feedback because some of it just doesn't apply to me and I'm still interested in the game (or whatever the product is)... sometimes I read something negative though that does make me decide it's not really worth my time. Time is money. I only have so much time to game... even when a game is free.

I agree first hand experience is the best way to judge something, but with thousands of great games out there... and some of these games eating a whole lot more of the limited storage on my iPhone I have to be picky.... not that the game is out in my region anyway.

I'm not trying to deter anyone from giving this game a shot at all. Just really replying to Connector... as I quoted him in my post.

It could have been worse. Not that I want to encourage anyone.

I, very much, look forward to reading your feedback on the game.

Watching driving cars around tracks IS boring, but actually taking the wheel in my own hands is totally different experience. I have to agree, that this games' playing perspective as in months gets me on top of my smiling zen mountain.

I have to confirm your and others calculations, that one can play totally without IAPs without problem. Still progressing, leveling and earning. Timers really bring even more interesting "managerial" edge to all the fun.

Not only racer, a puzzler aswell.

How much will RR3 cost me if I want to play 2 hours a day (uninterrupted, no timer waiting) for one month?

Hey Nightc1. Just making sure you're aware that a stack of us promoting the game actually hated the pants off of it at the start. These are not EA fans or people that enjoy freemium models. Just the opinions of gamers who have found gold buried in a dog shit

Amen to that, Lost Deputy. I almost cried on freemium news and wanted to roll on the floor screaming afterwards.

That doesn't matter anymore. Live with timers for a while and it will be fine. Then you'll be able to enjoy a full game for absolutely nothing.

Also, does anyone want me to add on GC? Nick: PedroCst
I got my other acc deleted so I have like 0 friends.
    My Focus RS, Challenger R/T, Z4 M and 911 GTS 4.0 are waiting :)

That's a good question... RR3 is saving data to iCloud so maybe game data can be restored from there. Worst case, you may have to back up your documents folder using iExplorer or iFunBox and then restore it when you download the US version...

Seriously, the "So and so has just completed something something Event # in Real Racing 3 and beaten you!" alert spam is really starting to annoy me.
