It's actually pretty cool racing people you can put words and comments to, that's a nice feature, though the ai definitely needs work, lots of it.
I respect AppSpy and read their reviews, but I don't think RR3 has been reviewed fairly. If I had reviewed it just after the soft release, it would have achieved 2 stars (out of 5) because of the heavy waiting times not allowing you to get anywhere. After they tweaked the timers (I think it was 24h after release) I would grant it 4.5/5 stars (out of 5), because I feel it's fantastic now. If I had been them, I would have waited until EA releases the game worldwide to see how the timers end up being and give the score accordingly, mostly because their low review had to do precisely with timers: the thing they're tweaking and polishing in these days...
Hmmm... Interesting, I will have to think about this concept and boot up some games and see. Always thought a driving sim meant like going into pitstops and doing things like taking your tires off, fuel management, and the such. Thanks, will think about it from the physics aspects too.
Repping it up! I saw a stack yesterday with TSM as well. I'm wondering if its a data thing. I wish Firemonkeys would come out and say "guys these are the issues that you'll face because its not the final product". Then we could back off the opinions a bit and just enjoy what we currently have and stop the head scratching. It's so funny that a lot of peeps keep going back to the 1st series to beat each others times. Wastedyuthe your 1st position at Southbank elevates you to "Elite Friends" when I look at the track. I cannot challenge you until I win the race. Today is the day. You're going down punk
Hey, congrats, and welcome to Toucharcade, my friend! Normally TA isn't this crazy of a place like in this thread. Enjoy your stay here and if you ever need any help, please ask! Take care, I am a racing/motion game fanatic, and love racing games on ios, especially Real Racing 2.
Oh and you gotta love the track marks on long races. With your cars performance levels dropping, the track all torn up and your friends trying to pass it can be an intense finish sometimes. Another feature I'd love is when paused it gives the current standings of the drivers. If anyone happens to being in starting position other then last place can you please take a screenie and post it. I'm doubtful but it's such a random game at times I don't want to rule it out just yet
Thanks mate! It's funny that the mobile platform has become so good for racing games. I didn't predict it but it really suits the platform. Something tells me that you're going to love RR3 man
Damn, I hate it when requests get accepted midmatch!!! And KillyBilly you are the only guy on my list who has gotten far into the championships. Also, let me know how my TSM AI fares. Haha
One important thing Firemonkeys need to fix is cutting corners, there are a few point to point races where you can cut off a good 8 seconds from the best time just by driving over the grass at spots. The final few corners on classic Silverstone are the worst, you can just rally across the grass and save 6 seconds.
Is it even possible to win those 20 man cup races? The start distance between 1st and 20th is so big, I've never actually seen the 1st place racer. After the race finishes the 1st place racer has some retarded time that is faster than the 2nd place by 20+ seconds.
Agreed. These sort of glaring oversights make me think the finished product will be a different beast altogether
The TSM data is most likely from someone who had a really good run, thus you need luck and speed to keep up. It's something they need to look into and balance a bit as it's only going to get worse as more players get better vehicles.
Wow, thought you would have named something else as the primary concern. The way you make it sound, it sounds bad. Would have never thought about this as an issue before. Do you think damage is overly exagerated compared to real racing in real life?
In real life you would be banned from the sport driving people into walls like this game does! the AI just doesn't see you at all, you are completely invisible and not there to them.
Wrong. I think they can perfectly see you. I mean, they purposely hit into you. They drive into you. They know your location. Firemonkeys designed them as such. To be honest, I couldn't care less about damage. But it is in curcuits like Indy oval that they drive you off the road and the immense speed you lose means you can forget about a proper placing.
Hell yeah. In F1 for eg, you need to leave room of either side (1 car width) for a car to ovetake. And you cannot drive into a car, at all. Instant 1 race suspension.
