Universal Real Racing 3 by Electronic Arts

Discussion in 'iPhone and iPad Games' started by matthew-13, Feb 13, 2013.

  1. Just spent 5 gold to service two parts so all back in green again. Another 7k to earn then my second car bought. 1 1/2 hours playing so far and not a thing spent on this game

  2. Yeah, from all the negative remarks about this game especially in the other bashing Real Racing 3 thread, I have lost all hope for this game. It is so sad. But you are right, much better racing games are out there like Asphalt 7 which is temporarily free now for the rest of you that don't have it. People criticized Asphalt 7 for even having any inapps. RR3 is much much worse with timer waits, even huger inapps, and a completely freemium model.

Ok I've been playing this game now for 2 solid hours and I CAN STILL PLAY! But heck, I need a break! :D

I have 2 cars now, the Nissan and Focus. I have upgraded the engines on both. While my Focus did it's best in the end, it did need an hours service, while I then proceeded to try out my new Nissan and go on to win another 2 races. I ended my 2 hour session winning the Nissan Showcase Indianapolis Speedway Cup. I have R$2230 after upgrades and winning my last race, and 13 gold coins, and am at Level 3. I have completed 20% of the Pure Stock Challenge (8 out of 11 events).

All this and I haven't spent a penny on this game. Go and spend £5 on RR2 if you like, but if people are cautious with their upgrades and repairs on here till they get their second car, they'll have plenty of top quality races for FREE.

Top quality graphics on my iPad 2 too, and where are these ad's people go on about? I haven't seen one yet. Very clean and friendly UI, great gameplay, great management system.

Haters hate all you like, but I'm SO glad I didn't listen to you!

  7. Negatives so far:

Ok ideally I would like the AI to react more to your position- give you space if they see you etc. Their "intelligence" should dictate they don't want to wait for repairs either.

For those who do want to pay for IAP's, they should offer more for the money or lower prices.

Umm..... that's it so far. Honestly.

Yup EA seems to be on a real role. They make that POS game, Battlefield bad company 2 and pull that from the shelf, then they make a beautiful game and provide the worst pricing model ever. EA wth are you doing !

And the post above is the real nail in the coffin. For time shifted multiplayer to truly work they would need to have kept all the game data on the server, not locally. Otherwise you wind up with things like the above butchering the experience for everyone else. Why they didn't make this a premium priced game and dodged the whole iap mess is beyond me.

Wow, it didn't take long for someone to proudly post a picture of themselves stealing/cheating. Well done.

Yeah after a good few more hours with the game (which I've spent zero iap on and about four hours of play give or take), I'm gonna go with this point of view.
If you're careful with the first car, then buy a new one when you can, you will have no problems.
Effective management of your vehicles will mean you never have to pay. Just be careful with the first one, it will easily get you far enough before servicing or repairs are necessary if you are careful. Avoid collisions and simply run it until it forces you to change oil.
Then get your second car, repair one and race the other. Then build up your garage and when you have a choice of cars to use, the repairs are completely irrelevant if you simply manage them correctly. Which I assume is part of the real world.
Look at it as though you're running and driving for a racing team. Not just trying to rack up wins at any cost.
There's a great game underneath all the rage against the pricing model. You just have to look beyond it.
I've put a decent bit of time into it and only ever had one point very early on where I had to stop for a ten minute repair. At which I badly needed a cup of coffee anyway.
It does actually give plenty of currency and I just got another car at half price for some reason.

The pricing model and possible waiting times did initially phase me a bit but now after actually investing time (and time only, no real money), my definitive conclusion is that it is indeed an excellent game and that the time issues actually cause you to invest more planning, put thought into it and engage more with the game.

Flame away if one must but as I'm experiencing the game, I'm enjoying it more and more each time.

    Yep,I'm playing RR3 now and then :D

  20. It is a shame yes, but it won't stop me enjoying the game. Ok I won't be winning against those guys anytime soon, but still doing well in races regardless even though I don't always come first. The good thing is you always earn money! Just don't bash your car in :D

Had a little break from my initial 2 hour race fest, and on my way to saving for my 3rd car. Then I think I'll start upgrading them more- but 3 cars should at least ensure servicing won't be a problem ;)

    Really loving this game!
