RR3 is good...if you have other games to play while you wait and notifications turned on. Flame shield on.
I was thinking about getting this game, but with all the bad reviews and criticism, I might have to forget about it, even though it's free I think I might reinstall real racing 2 and asphalt 7.
After the 2nd day of testing this i don't know what is more annoying, the iaps or the racing system (witch is made this way to support the iap system). So today i decide to try some head to head races... I choose one from the 1st tier and when the race begun i saw that the opponents car was a better than mine.. I said well it's ok, maybe i am better driver lets give a shot... after the first 100yards i was running alone in an empty track because the other one was some miles in front of me.... I retired the race and said... ok i was bad luck.. i m gonna try again the race to see if the new opponent isn't so advanced... guess what.. the second time the other car was even better.... The result: i have a car full repaired without timers to hunt me but now i cannot play the event i like... instead i must play an other event to earn some money to upgrade my car or buy a new one but then guess what.... i ll have to repair it so i cannot play my fav event again... Interesting just interesting... Imo the better decision for EA would be if was putting the talent of firemonkeys to a totally new racing game witch would be from scratched designed for being freemium (like CSR). They tried to use the success of RR series to a freemium model and there is where the things has being strange and we have all these complaints around the internet... P.S: Also i m feeling the physics a little bit more to the arcade side than the physics from RR1 or RR2... Maybe it is just me but i think that i prefer the old settings.
One small problem I have with swapping cars all the time is that you get used to a slower car, swap to a fast beast, then back to a slow car again and repeat. I love the handling in this game, I just wish that I could play it more in one sitting, I love the 3 lap races which last 6-8 minutes with a full pack of cars but it will half my oil, do that a few times and it's waiting time again along with any damage done and other parts. Progress feels really slow.
Quick minor observation: People complaining you have to wait 2 minutes even to get your first car delivered- It actually prompts you to click the button to pay 1 gold to receive it straight away, as part of the tutorial of how they work. This is not a negative point imo.
If they are the same events I'm thinking of (i never bothered checking the name in game) but I did have a similar problem that was only solved by upgrading the car to the max, minus the one engine upgrade that costs some gold amount that I can't remember. It got a third in each, but it was not easy and took a good few retries. My consolation was that at each try, despite failing mostly, I did actually get some cash. I know that probably doesn't help too much. And it was the ford that I was using.
I agree with everything. The balance of the AI is certainly the worst part about the game, and it rears its ugly head once you have 5/6 cars in the stable, so the timer doesn't affect you much. As for the physics, yeah. I think the breaking power here is more pronounced, mostly to cater to the casual audience. Also, less powerslides than in RR2 even with no assists whatsoever. What I am disappointed with is the lack of slipstreaming. I mean, seriously? It is a fundamental aspect of a complete sim racer.
Something on servicing. Please don't delete this mods!! There are 5 different services. Each holding up for varying amounts of times. So, as you repair a service, another comes up 2 races later. Breaks the flow. Sneaky on the part of EA.
I am thinking the upgrades *might* work for one of the events. But for the other, it is wrong. The Silvestone autocross times by TSM is ~35s. I drive very well and cleanly and get a 52s at best. Even with max upgrades, I don't see myself getting any more than 10 seconds, at best. Surely a bug here.
Ah, Eli doing a powertrip half arse mod job and deleting the text but not bothering to link to the review. AppSpy review: http://www.appspy.com/review/6723/real-racing-3?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter
I added one person from GC and played a head to head in which said person was automatically set as the opponent. The game was almost evenly matched. I haven't had time to play after that game but I'm guessing if you add around 20 people who you know aren't gonna spam IAPs, and if you aren't ahead of everyone else in your career, you're gonna have fair races throughout. In the few games I played today, out of 22 racers, I rarely ever reached the top 3. Normally I end up between the 7th and 15th positions. By the time I reach the 7th position, I feel like the only one racing cause the poeple in front are light years ahead.
Would you agree that 22 is too big a grid? I know, we want big races yada yada, but I really feel it is. 16 would have been perfect imho. Or let there be qualifying runs! (but this would make an already LONG game longer) PS: I wonder, why does the opponents never crash, spin or veer off course?
hey, does anyone know if you can re-play the tutorial that came at the start of the game with the 911 GT3 RS? It'd be cool to do that, since I still got a long way ahead to reach to that car
Possibly so because I can't find one right now that even has that extremely low time. This may work, it may not but close app down fully and turn off wifi. I'm wondering what time will load up with no connection (if on phone, put in airplane mode). Might be a default easier time rather than a very fast tsm time. No guarantee on that though. Oh, meant to say, reducing assists or even turning them off (except traction control) is pretty effective as well.
I do feel as though that review is spot on. It's a great game but I just can't have fun with it due to the pricing model. I not going to be nickel and dimed to death; there are ways around this. TF2 upped Valve's revenue by a factor of twelve, and that game is completely free to play - no nickel and diming like we're seeing on iOS.
yup. I still think 16 was the sweet spot. 22 just feels too much. And by the time I hit the top 10, with the time I spent maneuvering through the rest of the grid, the top players are way ahead of the game. Qualifying probably isn't the best idea. I didn't like it much in RR2 anyway, and it makes less sense here cause the game's INCREDIBLY long. I kinda like that in a way, but I don't know if I'll play it till I hit the exotics. NFS Most Wanted's gameplay time was really good imo +1. I accidentally closed the app just as I started the tutorial.. Can't find a way to redo it :\
Sorry dude, we get lots of shit from other sites when forum members directly rip full article text. To be fair, you didn't link it and I edited it from my phone to avoid potential drama. But, yeah, let's continue banging on that "Eli is the worst" drum for not letting you lift content direct from other sites. *sigh*
An hour into this and i gotta say, i'm loving it! My car is running on empty as far as oil goes, but it's still going (I don't want to wait 15 mins to get that sorted). I've raced 8 races so far, and upgraded my Focus twice. But now saving up (just need another 10k) for a second car (the Nissan) so I can still race while one is being serviced. I've come first in 6th of the races, 4th and 7th in the other two. Going to keep racing till I can't go anymore or have enough cash for the second car Time shifted opponents aren't actually that aggressive. They tend to stick to the racing line that's all. They usually give u a little room to sneak inside them on bends, or you may need to cut the corner a little. But the lack of AI isn't something I personally would complain about so far. I've only had minor repairs too, and spent a few of my gold on getting them done straight away. Still have 21 left. It has told me i'll do better by upgrading- but I need that second car first. There is definitely some strategy here in what u want to spend your cash on. I think when I get the UK version of this, I'd be quite happy to spend a few quick on a pack to help get me started, and that'd be all I'd need to spend on it.
I can't believe I'm saying this, but RR3 is making me wish for CSRs gas mechanic, at least there I could plan my play sessions without constantly running into nickel and dime time walls. The worst part is that it costs as much to do maintenance at 90% as at 9% which blows out ideas like doing a mass maintenance run before bed. You will simply be piddling race bucks if you try it. Seriously, who in the great hades thought this system was a good idea?
Not for me though. Somehow they come off line to squeeze me off-track. But amongst themselves they are well behaved and stick rigidly to the racing line. *facepalm*
