Thanks for the update GPS! They should have just changed those "lucrative events" instead of the whole system. Oh well it's their game they do what they choose...
Yes thanks @GPS and I agree with you completely @THEday. The net result is rather than discouraging racers from driving the Le Mans 10-lapper repeatedly, they have effectively made it the ONLY way of progressing once you're above a certain level. I really wish there was some benefit to going back to older series but they're all pretty redundant at the moment - because with the increased fame needed, in practical terms you can't earn enough fame from them to increase your driver level. I am at level 174, with c.200,000 fame needed to go up a level and earn 30 gold. If I went back and re-entered each series all over again, winning every race, this is what I would earn (approximately - and prior to Ferrari/Grip additions): Amateur - 7 Series - 238 races - 122,300 fame (0.6 levels) Pro/Am - 9 Series - 368 races - 261,100 fame (1.3 levels) Pro - 6 Series - 171 races - 153,700 fame (0.77 levels) Expert - 6 Series - 281 races - 282,500 fame (1.4 levels) Master - 5 Series - 189 races - 216,200 fame (1.1 levels) Elite - 5 Series - 195 races - 200,200 fame (1 level) Legend - 10 Series - 461 races - 585,000 fame (2.9 levels) Now you would say that this would be a massive undertaking (even aside from the fact that PR requirements or gold cars I haven't gotten yet exclude about many races) and you'd be right, because you'd be going through the whole game again! It would involve 1903 races (or thereabouts) to earn 1.8m fame and thus go up 9 levels, which would bring me in 270 gold coins, which is less than half of the discount price of my next car - the Agera R. Ludicrous. So here's my suggestion: reduce the disparity between fame earned across the various series and knock the Le Mans race down to, say, 5 laps and 12,500 fame, perhaps even making it less time-efficient (it's not only the most lucrative but the most time-efficient way of earning fame). Bring the fame required to level-up down to 50k. Allow drivers level up automatically when they complete each 25% section of a series - or increase the gold rewards for completing series, so people will invest gold in upgrading their cars to meet the PR requirements (I've about 20 series left unfinished because spending money on that seems pointless when I've new faster cars yet to access). Have level-based divisions with gold prizes for each in the weekly time trials - like they do in chess competitions. This would also encourage players to upgrade the cars they have to get faster times. They will only do this is they think there is a reasonable prospect of winning. More competitions like the Nissan fashion show. Great way of encouraging gold investments. And reduce the fame for winning the same race a second and third time etc. That would encourage people to mix it up
Yes to all that! You're right, there really is not much incentive to play and keep playing.. I love this game, I've said it many times, IMO it's the best racer for iOS. But the skewed (towards spending real world dollars) economy makes it absolutely ridiculous!. And yet here I am still racing..
Ah, I remember when it launched first and one could level up. I think this one is the fourth increase in the required xp to level up. They really did a great thing by increasing the gold rewards for levelling up, definitely hats off for that and I was very grateful. However, now by changing the whole xp system for levelling up, they have essentially kaiboshed the whole thing and completely nullified it by making it a phenomenal grind. Mr. Nices numbers (thanks for that) are just scary. Looking at the Elite series, one has to run 195 races to go up one level. I put that sentence there on its own just to look at it again. 195 races for one level. What would that translate to, about ten hours of play? Its cheaper to just buy the gold than invest about eight to ten hours for what, around 20 to 45 gold (?), give or take depending on level you're at. Changing the xp on one single race would have solved their problem immediately. It didn't need to be for every race. I'm quite sorry now that I actually bought some gold to reward the changes they made to levelling up rewards. Despite its technical brilliance, and there's no taking taking away from how amazing it looks and how much of an amazing technical achievement it is because it simply is an amazing game on an iPhone/iPad, I still am hovering over that X in the top left corner. I'm pondering have I reached that point of just deleting it and forgetting about it because its quite simply cost me too much money already and is just simply too much of a grind of time now that could be spent more productively. I think it has. Out of curiosity, how often would one have to run the last race in the endurance series in order to level up? Its a 30 minute race so maybe it is still an option to use it rather than running a whole series for one level.
I got the bit between my teeth for this game again about 3 months ago, I am now on the Accolade series and I unlocked the Le Mans series, but I think I'll stop once I've raced the Aston Martins and the Airial Atom V8 I shamefully bought in a sale. EA and FireMonkeys just know no bounds to their greed, but what are the options? I'm incredibly tempted by Real Racing 2 HD but don't know if the physics are as good, or do I continue with GT Racing 2 that I have dabbled in? I certainly don't want to feed any more money to EA, I must have spent £20 or so as it is since RR3 was launched, that should have been the cost to fully unlock the game, it was alright at the start when the cars were all unlocked, now you see them in sale and it's like 'hey look at this car on special offer, oh wait it's locked so you can't get it! Have a big slap in your face from EA and FireMonkeys' All through the games life they have just made it more and more difficult to play without spending big money, which is the pain as the game is so good. If I wanted to complete the Accolade series I need to get the 918 but that's 150 gold I think, as I have around 20 currently, it's going to take several gameplay hours just to get that car. Is it worth it all?
Echoing others, amazing game, disgusting money system. Count me as another who regrets spending his $20 for gold. I'm not as far as most in this game and couldn't win Le Mans so this new system has made it impossible for me to level up and Mr. Nice's numbers put it into real perspective. After seeing Firemonkey's answer I didn't play yesterday, couldn't bring myself to it.
Hey folks, I've just noticed something else which I think is new, and a backward step. I'm pretty sure that car servicing is now only happening while connected. I played a race at Bathurst last night and then went to bed, turned WiFi off. I raced the Nissan GTR which had a 3 hour service time. I only now got a notification saying service is complete. Which makes me think that servicing stopped when I disconnected. Anyone else found this? I guess it's to stp clock winding, but I mostly play offline so it kinda sux.
@Rip73 I am at level 173 or thereabouts and I level up after 3 or 4 10-lappers with the agent, suggesting a 200k limit at my level. I am sure that used to be 5 (wins of the 10-lap race), so I think they already mitigated their damage wrought by the recent change. Anyone else found that? @MarkyR74 I don't know. I didn't get it until they upped the gold rewards and then only with the showcase discount. It is a great car but then again all the Accolade cars are great. I say get it if you can get it for a discount because you're getting a lot of the 120 gold spend back from being able to complete two series (Accolade and East/West Throwdown - although PR reqs are steep). @GPS I find repairs don't happen unless I'm in Airplane mode when I start them and close the game safely before turning Airplane mode off (almost the opposite of your problem). Why not instigate a repair with Wifi off/in Airplane mode to see if that makes a difference, because repairs that I remember to start that way run fine for me while the game/network/phone is off.
Tested it on Android version but not experiencing the same phenomenon. You could try to repair the Silvia whilst in airplane mode and then click on the red flag in the top LH corner of the main screen to see if the countdown (which should be changing in real time because it's less than an hour) stops or continues.
New update on Android has introduced a new special series to win the Audi R8 spider, you can buy the Veryon roadster and race in another new series plus the Audi Le Mans racer is half price for a week. Nothing on Ios though so far. It also has career goals and some funny amounts of gold and cash on offer like the store on the IOS game, the top package is 1019 gold?? Then it's 476 gold then 183 gold etc. Utterly ridiculous, it's like they've had some statistics bean counting mathematics department come up with these amounts!
Ha, I thought the same thing with the Gold, random amounts?? I haven't noticed the Audi Spyder thing yet... Cheers
They have a blog entry up about this. Summary : They realized higher level players were leveling up faster than they preferred so they increased the fame requirements for leveling up.
Yeah, totally daft? Yeah it has some new thing called Speed Rush TV challenge, a new 7 day event where you complete goals to get the R8, I guess it's the same as the Le Mans challenge was. Although you click on it and it states coming soon. Good thing is the half price Audi Le Mans racer, I have the M3 GT2 now for the Accolade series, will need to grind like nothing for the week to get 2 mil for the Audi, then I can grind away at the Endurance Kings racing series haha.
Events are definitely one of the most amusing features in awhile. Sets up really unique situations and goals -smashes in to three cars destroying their windshields for the win heheh-
Does anyone know if I have to complete the first round today or could I wait a few days before starting? I clicked "Later" when given the option because I'm on an island with little Internet access
