If there is a dictionary example of freemuim I want to have a picture of this in it.

Lol theres way worse. This freemium model is not bad at all once you gat a decent sized garage. I usually just do 1-5 races a day anyways

I hate to say it but the Freemium here isn't terrible. Some of the premium currency only stuff sucks but overall it is pretty up front about the costs. It isn't like other games that hide a lot of the grinding and freemium trappings behind menus (GT Racing 2 and 2K Drive) or by jacking up the prices of cars and upgrades with miniscule payouts (Asphalt 8).

In RR3, after the initial go of getting a few cars which admittedly does kind of suck, the game gets to be pretty fun in terms of both racing, but also in terms of time management. In working my way through the career, after completing the first series quite slowly, I always had multiple cars and series progressions going at the same time. This means that whenever I was servicing a car for one series, I had another car ready to go in either the same series or another.

The one thing RR3 has going for it in my opinion, is that the prices for stuff to progress isn't astronomical. Sure if you are a collector and need every car and upgrade, then the game is going to get frustrating, and you will probably need to spend money if you don't want to grind. If you are just looking to beat all of the series like I was, then it is more than doable without spending any cash and now that there is real time multiplayer and decent payout tournaments, it is even easier. Also the update I got yesterday, as has been mentioned, gives a crap ton of gold for leveling and I even got a few extra gold for completing a series to 75% (20 instead of 5).

This game isn't perfect and yes it has a freemium model that isn't perfect, but at least it doesn't lie to you about it and that is part of the reason I still play it. Trying to progress in GT Racing 2, Asphalt 8, and 2K Drive is aggravating, annoying, and overall frustrating since it isn't really up front about how long you are going to need to either wait for timers or grind for credits.

While progressing through the RR3 career though, I always feel like I'm moving forward. Again, competionists need not apply unless they are willing to spend some cash for gold but just getting through the game isn't all the difficult. Marathon sessions initially can't and won't happen but once you get a few cars for available series, you can play to your hearts content typically with out stopping.

I'm not defending the premium currency only cars and upgrades by any stretch, but the game seems to be making strides to hand that stuff out to the dedicated players on a more regular and consistent basis.

Easily the single biggest and most important update to the game for the player since the early days.
The balancing of gold payouts for levelling up has been substantially increased and has, in my opinion, made the single biggest contribution to balancing the game in favour of the player yet since the early days when it was completable.
I can actually see potential in completing it now. It'll be grindy without a doubt but certainly possible.

As an example, subject to some variables and scaling, level 61 gets 20 gold, level 177 gets 32 gold, level 256 gets 40 gold and level 356 gets 96 gold and so on all the way up to level 1000 (which I must now achieve just to see what the reward will be, it should be good).
There is now a lot of potential gold to be won.
It will of course still need a lot of grinding but it is definitive light at the end of the tunnel.
I'll have to reassess the numbers but it looks as though there is a whole lot of potential put back in to the game and potential completion without having to spend the previous huge numbers on gold.

Considering I never cared less about the servicing and timers at any stage and always considered the minuscule gold payouts and the huge cost of gold to be the single biggest stumbling block in the game, this is easily the best step they've taken.

A huge step in the right direction.

They will be publishing something on their own website soon enough outlining the changes and the new levelling up payouts but as exampled above levelling up payouts show, there is a whole lot of potential in getting a lot of cars that were previously walled off and that they have in fact made a huge change to the game in exactly the right direction.

I totally agree with you, gold wise this update is a turning point.

I've been playing the 10 lap race in Endurance Kings every day, lately. The payout is huge and with the current update I can foresee to buy the Veneno, the Agera R and other hugely expensive car by the end of the year (but you must take future updates with new cars into account).

Of course and even the F50, despite being a gold only purchase, is actually very reasonable in comparison to some other prices at 160 gold at the full (no discount) price.
It's still not exactly what you'd call cheap but it is very much in the "attainable" category and even more so with the new rewards.
Of course, you're level is a factor as to how easy or hard it is to get but at least now it actually is a factor. It had become more or less irrelevant before this. Now it has a genuine impact.

It definitely backs up what I've been hearing about a change in EA in relation to iap and attempts to balance more. It bodes much better for a couple of games I'm looking forward to but had fears about based on previous but I have much more optimism now.

Its nice to have some light at the end of the tunnel now :) rather than know that they were some that simply never could be got (well, without spending lots of real dollars).
It is genuinely one I can't but be very happy and impressed that they've taken this new route.

Hmmm this game is still a very very very very grinding game, but God damn it if it is'nt the best racer out there.
I bought the Atom V8 when it was on sale and still am yet to unlock the race series I can use it in haha.

Absolutely! This is the best update so far for this game. Very happy with the Gold payout now. As said before. This game may have just become completable. Thanks Firemonkeys.

For someone who was unable to get the endurance kings race what is an another best way to farm for gold?

I like round 16 in GT1 grand tour. 5 laps at mount panorama. The other good one is the final round in Accolade open, 5 laps at Suzuka

Probably Accolade Open, the last race in that. You'll love it because theres so much grip on that M3. I use to grind that before Endurance Kings. Not sure if you can gain a full level from just one race though. Maybe 2 races will get you a level?

Thanks for that. Do you know what the system is for calculating what gold you will get for attaining which level? I can't see a pattern from the numbers you cited.

I tried to work it out by increasing the reward by one gold coin for every five levels (starting from your base of 20 gold coins for attaining level 61) but that predicted a 43 gold coin reward at level 177 and 56 at level 256.

If it helps, I just got 56 gold from going from level 128 to 130 (in one go), which blew me away because I was expecting 8 gold!

Yeah, I don't quite know the exact details of the variables but time played and level before the update seem to be factors along with a few potential factors such as number of versions of game you've had, when profile was created in relation to game lifespan and couple of other multipliers.
It isn't uniquely related to just levelling up and say 0 to 99 applies a certain multiplier, 100 to 199 applies another and so on.

The ones I quoted are examples that I have and are just broad indicators. I'm sure more variables will occur from person to person because of the variety of levels before the update and the variety of periods of time that people have had the game.
I did apply a couple of different algorithms but they just didn't work out. They were close but I'm missing a few of the variables and multipliers that they have incorporated.

I do know they are preparing (or have prepared) an explanation of the new system so keep an eye on this page
    https://firemonkeys.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/categories/200051410-Real-Racing-3
for the details to be released.
I'm sure a link will go up in their Facebook page as well.

There does seem to be an effort to factor in those that have levelled up high already prior to this update and the changes so I think that is the factor that is throwing out the calculations.
Plus on the positive side again, it shows that they have (or intend to) taken in to account those that have already levelled up a good bit before the higher rewards applied. I'm not too sure on that but it looks that way.
Either way, it is definitely a hugely positive step whatever way it has been calculated.

    @rip73

Thanks. I got 28 gold again levelling up once more, so that's 28 for each of the last three levels. This suggests that the scale is not monotonic increasing and to be honest I'd be happy even if that never increased, as long as the gap between levels didn't.

In recent times, I've gone up a level approximately every 56,000 fame points (or it could be 50k). With a reward of 28 gold coins per level, this would mean that I get 1 gold coin for every 2k fame points (28/56 = 1/2), and thus I should use the fame agent for every race I expect to win that is worth more than 2,000 fame points.

Does this make sense to anyone - with their own figures?

Will check out that link too.

    @Mr.Nice
Well, personally I'd save the agent for the two events that GPS and Oscar mention at the top of the page, accolade open and GT1 tour.
That's assuming you'd be paying the one gold coin. When you get the agent for free, anytime will do.
The last race in the Endurance Kings is the real big fame and currency earner in the game so that is the primary one that you should use any agents, but that assumes you've unlocked that far.
Any other races, I wouldn't bother buying the agent.
Mainly because despite the big changes, it's still worth conserving gold coins until you need them.
You will earn them substantially quicker now and more off them but still be conservative with them and a race with only 2000 fame points just doesn't seem worth it.

You're 28 ties in better with what I was thinking as well.
But in saying, I will recommend waiting for agent to go free and then use it on whichever is the maximum lap race in the last series you unlocked as a general rule, preferably the ones Oscar and GPS mention and the endurance kings last one.
The agent becomes free after you've won a certain amount of races consecutively, 3 or 4 I think it is, so just win a few small ones in a row, get free agent and then run a big one is mostly what I do.

I use the agent on that (second) last Endurance Kings one too and it brings me up a level (and 28 gold coins) each time I win, as it awards 56k fame when doubled, which is about how much fame is needed to bring me up a level.

What that means is that the Agent is worth 14 gold coins in that instance, so definitely worth using. I will have a think about the threshold fame return that would justify spending a gold coin on an agent, although will stick to that one and Accolade Suzuka for the moment.

Actually last night I used the all three (manager agent & engineer) each time on the Endurance one and it earned me 84 gold coins and R$1.2m from three races. Granted it took me over an hour and a half to do this but I actually enjoyed it more than the match - and think I have enough to fully R$-upgrade my new Veyron.

Thanks for the free agent tip. A good excuse to dust off the Nissan Silvia!

Just to let ye know, the LaFerrari is coming to the game.
Dunno when because some games have exclusive (ish) licensing deals in certain regions but once they run out, it'll be in so probably worth holding back on some currency or that newly acquired gold if its one you're interested in.
