Ok so I've spent around 6hrs on RR3 and I think the devs/EA really need to go back to the drawingboard on the model of this. I've spent $15 on it which I based on that I was glad to drop at least $10 on it if was standard pricing and that I wanted to support Firemint (oi oi oi). I haven't had any major issues with waiting as I just bounce between cars and I have used coins less then I have earned them. Plus I see the waiting as an incentive for cautious driving. My main issue is with the TSM. They really needed to separate the concepts. Have AI cars in the career and then a multiplayer mode with TSM. This different mode should include the cars you've unlocked and void any damage. This way you can replay tracks to learn them better without worrying about wear and tear. I remember the Apple demo when one of the devs rammed into his friends former ghost and they both laughed at how awesome it was. Now if that happens you have to concede that the car is gone for an hour. The mode of thought SHOULD be "buy it and enjoy it" not "buy it and lose it". There is a good game in here but it needs to be drastically reworked. Pull it from the AppStore and re structure the thing. Otherwise Firemint/onkeys will just be another EA tarnished brand
I love this game. I don't have any problems with waiting because I can just browse the net on my laptop. Let's see how I like it down the track a little...
Seems kinda silly hunkering down for a little bit of RR3 but making sure you have something on the side to play with while your game takes a break and tries to steal your wallet, but to each their own.
Every time I need to wait, I can just browse the internet. I couldn't give a crap about the wait times. I'm only going to spend around 9.99$ to support Firemonkeys.
The thing is, you shouldn't need to wait. I get that you have plenty to do while you wait, but don't you think there's a bigger issue here, like, that you have to wait in the first place? There's plenty I could do in the 6 hours it takes for the game to let me play it again. That's not the point.
Thinking hard, another element missing from the game is a qualifying lap. It can be really hard to get 1st from 22nd if the whole grid has equal machinery. And impossible if there are better cars on the grid. Like the Melbourne track...it is single line. Like Monaco. You can only overtake once or twice a lap without getting banged up. So it is really unfair. Qualy laps will alleviate some of this.
Solution to the RR3 IAP fiasco: Have a new IAP pack that allows instant repairs/oil changes/upgrade installations without the wait time. It should be kinda steep ($10 I'm thinking). This will allow serious players to buy it, while Firemonkeys take a decent profit. Also, the free-to-play options are still there for those that want them, and there are still reasons to buy coins in the form of exclusive cars, as well as the progression cheats that most games have now that will let the players pay to instantly advance if they can't beat a section, or will atleast let them buy some type of advantage with real money (think about how the IAP in modern combat 4 and in Infinity Blade II works).
This is just like the Dungeon Hunter series. 1 & 2 was great, then came DH3 with its IAP and timers for upgrades. Where is DH now? This could be the end of RR
This has been mentioned somewhere in these 90 pages of hate. I would purchase this instantly, and $10 would be a steal. I'd pay $20, which is about as expensive as it gets around here, and be happy as a clam. I genuinely wish this were an option and truly don't understand why, with a game as deep as this, that caters so well to the hardcore audience, this option wasn't included. As it is, I won't spend a dime on this. Your way? I'd spend 20 without blinking an eye and enjoy the hell out of what looks to be a brilliant game.
Can't say I have I'm pretty big on ethics in general though, which does seem to be rather unusual from the norm.
I think you missed his point. There has been jail breaks and piracy on iOS with a long time already so the length of time this is in development is irrelevant to any iOS 6 jailbreak. This will run on 4.3 or higher and going back that far in iOS has been jailbroken for a long time now, longer than this is in development. And piracy was an issue longer before that anyway. The freemium model may have certain purposes that I'm not going to debate with you but anti piracy of cracked apps is part of it. Lets not be naive enough to think that piracy is not a problem and that 10 dollars apps don't get pirated up to the neck, they do. And if this was actually a 10 dollar app, you'd be looking at a minimum 30% piracy rate, easily. The amount of times RR2 was pirated would shock and dismay. And no I'm not going to quote exact numbers but its very easy to estimate by checking certain places. Anti iap and freemium, no problem, rage away on it and the balancing but don't for a minute think making it premium would mean they'd actually make any money. Don't dismiss piracy as a non factor because the fact is, it is a huge factor and a major problem to the viability of big games and developers.
It's interesting looking through old articles and information on what this game will be like from the point of view of a few years back that is. Could make an interesting museum piece somewhere
